Managed under the guidance of Chef Grant Van Gameren, Bar Isabel's menu includes a diverse mix of tapas, cheese, seafood dishes and entrees. Diners rave about the grilled octopus, the cheese platter and the oysters. Treat yourself to some Andalusian cured tuna, with almonds and citrus. For dessert, the Basque cake and sherry cream is a must-try. Bar Isabel is open until midnight Sunday through Thursday, and extends its closing time to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a good pick for late night dining.
Thoroughly enjoying, had to sit at the bar,
because late booking, that’s a down side.
Following that everything else was perfect. Food was fabulous, cocktails, we ordered something not on the
List, they were produced to the highest standards.
The Food, you just have to go there. Wine list ..? We picked one we favored, albeit expensive, my son was treating me.
Constructive criticism, wine list, more variety of less expensive imports.
Overall. I will return
This is by far one of the best restaurants in Toronto. Cozy atmosphere, exceptional service and unforgettable food. Bar Isabel has a special place in my heart.
The food and service were both incredible! We loved every plate that was brought out. The waiters/waitresses here are the best, they always checked up on our food and came back many times to refill our water. 10/10 experience, the only downside is the noise level, it can get loud and difficult to hear the person across from your table, but that’s not a deterrent from returning. Can’t wait to go back.
Sommelier and hostess was rushing us to kick us out when we were thinking to ask for another espresso martini.
So, I left and went to another another bar.
Very disappointing as Bar Isabel is my number #1 to go to
A perfect place for a special occasion! The octopus was amazing and staff was very welcoming.
The waitress spilled a water glass in my salad that I hadn’t touch yet and didn’t replace it until I ask for another one. Very noisy and small portions.
Great food. Good service. Would recommend to others. We will return.
Food was fantastic as always. But WAY too loud.
Birthday celebration we all loved the good and had a great experience. Many were new and were Happy about the choice!
Food was fabulous, service was very attentive, the noise level was deafening. Had to shout to talk to my table mates. The noise level really detracted from our enjoyment of the fantastic food.
Some of the good was delicious and some was not anything special. We would try it again though.
Everything was splendid. Love this place so much. But the noise is ... Well, depends where you sit; it can be a real factor. Otherwise awesome!
Delicious tapas style place with exotic offerings (gooseneck barnacles!), attentive service, and romantic, welcoming decor.
Amazing food and service as always. A true gem....
On par with previous experiences.
We had the most wonderful meal at Bar Isabela. I've had similar dishes at other restaurants and this was wayyyy better. The staff was also wonderful. I will be back!
Over rated to begin with. Better tapas bars in the city.
Asked for a specific full body wine and apparently the only one they had in their book of wines to meet my choice was $220 .
Wine was nothing great for that price!
They Rushed our dinner. We had asked to have a few drinks after dinner and they said no. Called management over and he said those were they rules we had to give our table up which no one sat there for the next 20min. Asked if we could grab drinks at the bar and waitress said no only for dinner reservations. WTH is wrong with this restaurant and management. In a city like Toronto there are so many other restaurants that would appreciate people spending over $800 for four! I will make sure to tell people how rude they are and all they care about is pushing you to order quickly and expensive dishes and wine just to rush you out of there.
A pleasure as always! The staff are as welcoming as anyone could be, the food is out of this world and the cocktails are on point. Recommend to anyone who wants a taste of Europe.
Obsessed with Bar Isabel. Our server was wonderful - the blonde man! We’ll be back.
Simple, imaginative dishes and careful and timely service...a treat for all senses
Excellent food and service. My favourite restaurant in Toronto!
Good meal. I did expect more for the price and hype. The service was very good. Wine steward was committed to delivering quality wines. Was very open to changing our wine as we were not 'thrilled' with our choice. Thus was appreciated.
Very good service and nice ambiance. The food is not bad. It is actually very good but I think it is overhyped. So don't expect an out of this world culinary experience, but just go there and enjoy a very good bar/restaurant; I would..again.
Food is good, but if you've ever been to Europe you won't be amazed. Water was room temperature and not provided readily. Lighting too dark and red.
Love love love this restaurant, the food and the service always delivers.
First time at Bar Isabel and it lived up to the several recommendations I had for the place. A pretty loud place if you wanted to have a date night, but great ambience and the food was quite well done.
We live bar Isabel. Food and service are always amazing.
This is one of my favourite places to some in the city! Always consistently great in every way!
The pros - incredible staff, well rounded cocktails, lighting fast run times from the kitchen (under ten minutes for each dish). Well thought out interior design + seating plan. Intelligent menu layout.
The only con - some of the dishes were over salted, particularly the jowl. The quarter octopus was strong, well displayed and charred perfectly.
Would absolutely return.
Staff and food were excellent. Bar a little loud but worth it for the overall meal. The waiter and serving staff were attentive and the wine they aided in selecting was spot on. Since this was Tapas we had numerous dishes and each one better then the prior.
Some of the best food in Toronto! Amazing service & menu!
My mom and I came in for dinner, ordered a bottle of wine and a decent amount of food. I found the pace of our dinner was really fast for tapas (we had 5 or 6 dishes brought almost all at once). The food was decent but not especially memorable. The service was good but not particularly personable. I think this place would be better for snacking and drinks than dinner.
Very nice place food was delicious but a bit expensive
too much noise almost impossible to talk
Our meal was excellent and the service was attentive however we were being rushed at first. Unfortunately as well , the noise level is so high that you literally cannot hear the person beside you. We could not hear the servers explain the menu or each dish. This went on for the entire evening. It really is not pleasant and we wouldn’t go back given this dining experience.
Originally we were sat in between two tables that were both screaming and we were unable to focus. We asked to move and were immediately accommodated. Our preferences transferred from one server to the next. Nice touch!
A bit cold and too noisy, sound carried too much. It was difficult to have an intimate conversation
Great food, incredibly knowledgeable and attentive waitstaff.
Minimal wait time.
Tapas portion sizes but 5-7 orders are recommended.
I’ve been here several times it has always been consistent and delicious! Never disappoints. Great job!
There isn’t a bad thing I could say about this restaurant. The food, service and atmosphere is impeccable.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommended!
