Enjoy an intimate dining experience at Bar Isabel -- a cozy restaurant where creative Spanish-inspired small plate dishes are combined with craft beers and cocktails. The restaurant's elegant interior boasts an intriguing blend of soft lighting, curved walls and a beautiful mosaic tile floor.
Managed under the guidance of Chef Grant Van Gameren, Bar Isabel's menu includes a diverse mix of tapas, cheese, seafood dishes and entrees. Diners rave about the grilled octopus, the cheese platter and the oysters. Treat yourself to some Andalusia cured tuna, tossed with almonds and citrus. For dessert, the Basque cake and sherry cream is a must-try. Bar Isabel is open up until midnight through most of the week. The restaurant extends its closing time to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a good pick for late night dining.
Friday & Saturday 6pm - 2 am
I am not a foodie, so much of the cuisine was above me, but the staff were absolutely GREAT in explaining the dishes, options, preparation, etc. To me, they were the best part of this experience.
My only criticisms would be high ambient noise (it was a Saturday night) and closeness of other tables.
Great food. Would highly recommend.
Excellent for Tapas experience.
If you can only read English like me the menu is defiantly going to intimidate you. The food is so diverse and unique that we had no clue what to get. Our server was great, we tried his recommendation for wine which was perfect and then agreed with him when he offered us the $50 tasting menu. Excellent for me and my girlfriend who have no idea what any of it is. I would defiantly go back.
Bar Isabel never disappoints! My favourite restaurant in Toronto hands down. Food is amazing, atmosphere and service is always exceptional.
Easily the gold standard for dining in Ontario; the atmosphere, the service, but most of all the food! Gosh dang!
Food was incredible. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Love this place.
Food and service very good. Avoid dulce de leche desert- nothing to do with the real one. We were rushed out, coats arrived even before we paid the bill. Go if you are hungry but do not need to talk to your companion(s) as the level of noise is extremely high (and visibility low).
Amazing experience. A unique place offering some very special menu items. You have to be open minded and willing to try new things in order to truly get the best out of this menu. Razor clams were amazing, patatas bravas so delicious, the veal bread with the raw tuna was unbelievable and the dessert is a MUST! Loved the cocktails and unique beer options. One of our top favourite restaurants. Looking forward to coming back!
Great atmosphere, food and service. Would definitely return.
Our server was lovely and their food is so delicious. Definitely go for the seafood.
The host was welcoming and all the servers were pleasant and knowledgeable. We enjoyed all the food. It was delicious. The timing of the different dishes was good so we did not get too much at once. It was a little noisy but we’re a little old so it probably didn’t bother most of the crowed. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Amazing - had a tasting menu!
Excellent food and excellent service.
A M A Z I N G ! what can i say , great meal , outstanding service , the cavatelli were amazing ,, you have to try this
I love Bar Isabel. Food is delicious. One of the best in the city. Looking forward to my next visit.
Had a lovely first visit for my birthday with an old friend! Had the quarter octopus, chorizo verde great for a special occasion.
As most reviewers noted, the place is a little on the dark side and very loud. It is sometimes hard to have a conversation without raising your voice. The food on the other hand, was outstanding. We loved the jambon Croquettes and the Scallops were incredible. The Shrimp a la Plancha was also excellent. For dessert we had the Basque cake. Once again, it was excellent.
Waite staff were fantastic. Went in and asked for the chef to do a tasting menu for the 6 of us. Given a price range to choose and asked how adventuresome we were. Had the right amount of dishes to leave very satisfied and not stuffed. Wines were fantastic. Definitely will return.
Bar Isabel delivers the goods! Delicious, authentic Spanish cuisine!
I had seen great reviews about this place. In 2018, Bar Isabel was rated as one of the Top 50 restaurants in Canada. Our night started off great. The ambience and decor feel true to their Spanish roots. Simple and understated. Our server tended to my girlfriends allergies well and was very diligent at first. But all of a sudden she left without any notice. Not sure where she went but we never saw her again. That was very disappointing. At times we had to call someone to our table to order a drink. That’s not something we’d expect from a “top” restaurant. Other than the service, I enjoyed the restaurant/bar. I’ll give this place another try because of its reputation but if the service is subpar again, I won’t be coming back.
We liked it very much - but it was too loud. We could not have a conversation. I met family on their way through Toronto. We had only 3 hrs to meet. They came off a 10 hr flight from Vienna.
We left earlier because of the noise. Overall super experience. Paul the sommelier was outstanding.
Best dessert in the city, amazing service and environment
Wasn’t impressed with the food, the restaurant was very crowded and noisy making it difficult to have a conversation. Portions were small, price was high. Spent 270 for a dinner for 2 which I think is a bit outrageous. Wouldn’t go back or recommend, I don’t see what the hype was about.
Exceptional service... the moment I walked in, my shopping bag and jacket were taken care of, and they were extremely patient with me as my other guests were running late. They had great recommendations, and the intimate seating set up allowed me to converse with the neighbouring table about what they had ordered in order to get recommendations (it was my first time there!). I love Madeira and have only ever seen it on menus in the Southern US, and was so pleased to see it here in Toronto. The Isabel Fashioned mixed drink was also delicious and strong. I would highly recommend the the bone marrow... it's way better than Cafe Can Can's and I was pleasantly surprised by that. The octopus's flavour was also very rich and delicious. We weren't a huge fan of the squash dish though... it was rather unremarkable. But beyond that, everything was great!
Thank you to everyone at Bar Isabel for another wonderful evening. As always, excellent food, drink and service. Isabel continues to be one of our very top spots for dinner. We'll be back soon.
Amazing as per usual!
Bar Isabel lived up to the hype. Actually... it surpassed it. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was attentive and helpful, but relaxed. And the food... the food was truly delicious. Can’t wait to return!
Excellent food and service, even though it did not appear to be plenty of food, but we were well fed.
Service was outstanding. All the staff who serviced us went the extra mile to make the evening extra special for us. Food was very good and well paced. Now definitely need to go to Bar Raval.
The food was wonderful, our server was terrific, my only complaint was the noise level. It was extremely hard to hear my dinner guest over the loud conversation at the nearby table and we had to lean in to hear one another. Other than that, it was a great evening, I would recommend this restaurant as a definite must do.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. Shoutout to Chef Lucas!!!
You get your money's worth.
Service can be better. Food is good but Overpriced. good selection of wine.
The food is very creative and tastes great.
The service is excellent.
Nice wine selection.
Had two guest from out of town and they were totally happy with our service and his recommendation of the meal we had...
This was the fourth time visiting Bar Isabel and most definitely will not be the last. This place is consistently great every time I have visited and our servers were equal parts knowledgeable, friendly, and
attentive. The menu is fantastic and the “Sobrasada & Foie Gras” provided what might just be one of the greatest bites of food I have ever had. I’d give it six stars if I could.
Very lovely place to go to for a vibrant night out. I did notice that it was extremely loud so if you’re out for a first date it’s very hard to talk.
Took girlfriend there for birthday and we were blown away. Food was amazing and so were the drinks. Quality food and great atmosphere. Cannot speak highly enough about this place, will be back.
Great service and attention to detail! The perfect experience for our anniversary.
Definitely one of the best meals and dining experience we have had in Toronto!
