Fabulous tasting menu! We thoroughly enjoyed the artful food, the recommended wine, and the casual ambience of Bar Oso. We will definitley be back for another dining experience!

Food was excellent! Our server quite honestly wasn’t to interested in serving us and doing her job in quality food check etc... it seems more important to hear how your co workers gym routine went. Also, found it frustrating that I had to ask another sever for our bill as she did not pick up on the queques of empty drinks and wallets on the table.

My boyfriend and I went to Bar Oso after reading great Opentable reviews. I made a Saturday night dinner reservation for 6:30pm. The restaurant was already packed when we arrived but we were greeted by the hostess and were seated immediately. I'd recommend a reservation if you're able to secure one!

The first thing I noticed is that the space is small. All tables are seated close to each other so you'll be able to overhear everything being said at the table next to you. The music is also very loud. It didn't hurt the experience but it certainly didn't help. As for service, it was great. The hostess was friendly and our server was great too. I was a little wary because some reviews mentioned the lack of attentiveness by staff but we had a great experience. After taking our orders, our server checked in on us about 4 times over the course of the 2-hour evening and that was plenty for us.

My biggest disappointment (and I hate to say this because I had such high hopes for this) was the food. We had the fresh & cured charcuterie board, octopus "Jorge" style, the lamb meatballs, and duck liver montaditos. I would say that the charcuterie board and duck liver montaditos were both 9/10 experiences. The Jorge style octopus and lamb meatballs were good but nothing special (6/10). These two dishes came out strangely lukewarm and very bland. We weren't impressed at all.

The cocktails, on the other hand, made me swoon. I had the Trophy Wife and my boyfriend had the Oso Sour. Both were definitely 11/10. We were ecstatic about these two drinks. I would highly recommend trying whatever cocktails you can! They were absolutely phenomenal.

In conclusion, I would definitely come to Bar Oso again although it would most likely be for drinks rather than dinner! Thank you for a good 4-star experience!

We came for my 30th birthday dinner and absolutely loved it. My husband is a beer drinker but he ended up having three different cocktails, each one was delicious. I had the spicy margarita, a regular margarita and the sangria, all of which were really great.
Our food was delicious. We just had a really nice time overall, the food came quickly and the service was great!

45 minutes to get your drink is just too long. Love the place, but the service was not great this visit. In the past we have had a much better experience!

Seated at the bar, overlooking the magic of Bar Oso's food preparation, I could not get enough of it — three nights in a row. It's hard to decide what's been more captivating: the amazing aromas of literally everything I tasted (who would've thought that cumin is the perfect addition to a soup of tomato cream? Maple glazed bacon in their Oso Sour? Terrine de volaille with a heavenly fragrance and consistency? Oh and those short ribs?) or the perfect coordination of the movements behind the bar in a highly organized, ultra dense mis-en-place, featuring 2, sometimes 3 virtuosos assembling food; balancing serving plates of chocolate cake, sliced to precision with blades dipped in boiling water; sous-vide simmering meats; cheeses and charcuterie — both cured and fresh — arranged to perfection.

You would think a Spanish tapas place would use really good olive oil but alas this place wasn't the night I was there........ Sad

Earlier in the day, I went to another bar and had a small portion of nachos, which turned out to be enough for 4 people. This place goes to the other extreme and portions are very small, as you expect with tapas. The food was very good but the service was was a little slow. It was busy time, but 1 more member of staff would have helped. Good for profit, I guess, but not so good for customers. Overall a nice meal, but not the greatest.

Great place. Has some organic wine which was why we went there. Had the scallops which were sliced really thin but great, and the charcuterie board where everything on it was yummy. Had the special ham app and the shrimp app - my husband said they were delicious. There are only a few reservations on OpenTable per evening so make your reservation early, this place fills up!

This experience was a little bit of both worlds - negative and positive. When we initially arrived, we placed our drink orders, and then received no attention or acknowledgment from anyone for 25 minutes (literally). We were well beyond ready to make our dining order and felt rather frustrated by what seemed like we were invisible despite sitting at the bar right in front of 3-4 employees. Perhaps it seemed like we were getting frustrated, and therefore staff began to ask if we’d like to order anything, how we liked our drinks/food, and then moved on to take note of my husband’s birthday and provide him with a slice of cake, which was much appreciated! So you can see my predicament here. I was extremely disappointed at first, but left a happy camper. Do I think the food is amazing? Hell yes. Do I think the service is amazing? It could use some work. Will we be back? Probably, but not before checking out some other Whistler places first!

Thanks for the hospitality, when it was on point though!

On a quick Summer visit to Whistler village, this was a perfect place for lunch. Our salads were not huge but were absolutely delicious. I had the arugula salad with grapefruit and crispy shallots which was really good. House made bread with a lovely dipping relish was perfect. The charcuterie boards seemed popular and looked great for next time. Particularly cosy I'm sure when the snow falls. Would definitely return and recommend. Great service and friendly.

Fantastic spot. As others have mentioned, the charcuterie (meat + cheese + pickled vegetables) is an absolute must - best one I've had! I also highly recommend one of the chef's signature dishes, the scallops - excellent flavours and so fresh. Staff were very friendly, and the cocktails were great, too. I'd definitely come back here!

My girlfriend and I always stop by Bar Oso when we're in Whistler for the charcuterie boards and awesome cocktails. We had the $33 board this time around which gave us a full tasting of their fresh+cured meats, cheeses and pickled veggies. Everything tasted delicious and was a massive portion when comparing it to similar charcuterie boards in Vancouver. Also had The Shaft and Oso Sour for our cocktails which were great. Service was friendly and attentive as well. We'll definitely back next time we're up that way!

Bar Oso exceeded all of my expectations! I made a reservation for our anniversary as we love tapas, and the menu and photos didn't do it justice (great menu and photos by the way). The vibe was perfect, it felt fresh and new inside, was clearly an it place, but still great for conversation and felt intimate. Everything we ordered was amazing (montaditos, cheese board, the Brussels sprouts, and the lamb meatballs). The staff were awesome too. We'll be going back when we're in Whistler again.

We've been to Bar Oso a few times but this was the first visit this season. Top Table did a great job with the interior of this tapas bar. The food is very good, particularly the house made meats. Service tends to be attentive. We like the staff behind the bar except for the head chef who tends to come off as aloof. It's a tapas bar, you're not curing cancer. Get over yourself.

Ever since opening next to Araxi almost a year ago, this has been a favourite spot in Whistler. The empanadas, the cured meats and delicious cheeses with some wine are perfect for lunch, après or dinner.

From the minute we arrived, and our coats and umbrellas were quickly checked, the service was fantastic. Our server took the time to explain the tapas menu to us. We had the most varied and delicious charcuterie and cheese plate ever. We ordered several other tapas plates and we were not disappointed. The highlight though for us was the gin menu. We ordered a BC gin flight, a great feature for us gin lovers! So nicely presented too. Once we'd tasted them all and ordered our favourites for a G&T, the drinks came beautifully presented. We loved everything about Bar Oso, have already recommended it to friends and will definitely be back.

Such a discovery! We were amuzed by the quality of the food. The wine's list is also amazing, nothing to envy to his Big Brother Araxi. We were pleased to meet the Chef, native to Spain, who defines his creations at Bar Oso like "spanish style cuisine". This is not a Spanish restaurant, but the Spanish inspiration is all around. We loved it!
