Always a must do when we go to Whistler . Charcuterie, bourbon and bacon... how can you go wrong?
Great food and a fun atmosphere at Bar Oso. The food is share plates, small tapas and little sandwich-like montaditos. Excellent, very flavourful and surprisingly filling. The wine list is well curated and has something for every taste. The people watching from the front window seats can't be beat. There is a friendly, welcoming buzz to the place with the customers striking up conversations with one another. Although you could rack up a bill here, it is also possible to have a great time and enough to eat for less than $100 for two for dinner. By Whistler standards, this is downright affordable!
Food is exceptional, but be smart and avoid busy times. We had to wait 40 min before getting seated, but as we were eating the place started to open up.

Excellent Tapas and Wine in the heart of the Village.
Everything I ordered was fantastic (spicy tomato soup, lamb meatballs and beet salad), and all the charcuterie plates I saw and the empanadas looked fantastic. The servers were super conscious of allergies and any special requests. The menu seemed small but everything was great portions that I ordered. Would definitely recommend a reservation, many people were trying to walk in and were turned away even in the middle of the day.

My husband and I had a great night at Bar Oso. The amiabce is great for a more casual expierence for tapas and cocktails. While the dining style may be more casual the food and cocktails service was first notch. Chris and Oshi (spelling? ) Were phenomenal bartenders who where very knowledgeable and took great care of us! Aly was a marvelous host who made sure we were well taken care of. Any time we are back in whistler we will return!!
Unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience. Food served cold.... food not even turning up... we left and went and looked for dinner. If you are looking for a light meal and fancy drinks then this may be the place for you.
We visited on a weekend evening. It isn't easy to get in but I had reserved ahead. Local roasted beets with goat cheese, yum! Scallop crudo at the waiter's suggestion. My husband wasn't sure about raw scallops, but I ordered them anyway, thinking I could just eat the whole dish myself. We both loved it! So many things going on, so many textures and flavors. Delicious! Tiger prawns were outstanding. The lamb albondigas (meatballs) were good but my least favorite. Simple. Not a big lamb flavor, I could have believed it was beef had I not known better. The warm olives are really good. Some unusual varieties and warmed to perfection. On other visits we have had their charcuterie platter, which cannot be beat anywhere, and the padron peppers, which I also recommend. And the Montaditos (various things on toasted bread) are super, too. We made a meal of the tapas and noted many dishes to return for. We finished with the Creme dessert, flamed in front of us at the bar. A perfect ending, lighter than creme brule, and topped with citrus fruits for a fresh finish. The staff all joyfully keep an eye on the guests. Although we had one young woman serving us, another young man came to see how we were doing and told us of his love of the scallops (we asked), and the skilled chef's at the counter often cought our eyes and received our additions as well. Clearly everyone is very happy to be there. Especially me :)
Made our (2) reservation based on others review. However, we found it very underwhelming and extremely loud. The small tapas (Pintox) are way overpriced. The beef tartare was very good and a good value as was the Crema Catalana. The chacuterie platters looked very good and appeared to be a good value. Overall its a place we won't go back any time soon.
A classy little Whistler oasis
The food and service was fantastic! One of the best charcuterie boards and creme brûlée we’ve ever had, and we’re picky. Great recommendation on wine. The best meal we had in Whistler and would absolutely recommend Bar Oso.

Got there on opening and as we had seen how popular the venue was and were warmly greeted given our pick of table, service was attentive but not overbearing even as the crowds built up, a good vibe to the place and the food was perfectly prepared and portioned
Relaxing dinner after day on the slopes. Noise level good so we could enjoy our conversations.
Bar Oso is amazing. Charcuterie board plus any of their G&Ts are the way to go.
Limited menu. Very tight space. We felt like we were sitting in the kitchen. Wait staff was friendly, but the food is overpriced for what you get. We left after a drink and an appetizer and went somewhere else for dinner. It would be okay as a first stop on an evening out. They do have a creative drink menu.

The food was great! The drinks were yummy, the atmosphere good, but I would have liked backs on the bar stools. Not a huge deal, but still.....
Excellent authentic spanish food, great for tapas for lunch or dinner. Relaxed environment. It's a very small place so you have to book ahead. We loved it!
Fabulous tasting menu! We thoroughly enjoyed the artful food, the recommended wine, and the casual ambience of Bar Oso. We will definitley be back for another dining experience!
Food was excellent! Our server quite honestly wasn’t to interested in serving us and doing her job in quality food check etc... it seems more important to hear how your co workers gym routine went. Also, found it frustrating that I had to ask another sever for our bill as she did not pick up on the queques of empty drinks and wallets on the table.

My boyfriend and I went to Bar Oso after reading great Opentable reviews. I made a Saturday night dinner reservation for 6:30pm. The restaurant was already packed when we arrived but we were greeted by the hostess and were seated immediately. I'd recommend a reservation if you're able to secure one!
The first thing I noticed is that the space is small. All tables are seated close to each other so you'll be able to overhear everything being said at the table next to you. The music is also very loud. It didn't hurt the experience but it certainly didn't help. As for service, it was great. The hostess was friendly and our server was great too. I was a little wary because some reviews mentioned the lack of attentiveness by staff but we had a great experience. After taking our orders, our server checked in on us about 4 times over the course of the 2-hour evening and that was plenty for us.
My biggest disappointment (and I hate to say this because I had such high hopes for this) was the food. We had the fresh & cured charcuterie board, octopus "Jorge" style, the lamb meatballs, and duck liver montaditos. I would say that the charcuterie board and duck liver montaditos were both 9/10 experiences. The Jorge style octopus and lamb meatballs were good but nothing special (6/10). These two dishes came out strangely lukewarm and very bland. We weren't impressed at all.
The cocktails, on the other hand, made me swoon. I had the Trophy Wife and my boyfriend had the Oso Sour. Both were definitely 11/10. We were ecstatic about these two drinks. I would highly recommend trying whatever cocktails you can! They were absolutely phenomenal.
In conclusion, I would definitely come to Bar Oso again although it would most likely be for drinks rather than dinner! Thank you for a good 4-star experience!

Love this place! Always amazing.
We came for my 30th birthday dinner and absolutely loved it. My husband is a beer drinker but he ended up having three different cocktails, each one was delicious. I had the spicy margarita, a regular margarita and the sangria, all of which were really great.
Our food was delicious. We just had a really nice time overall, the food came quickly and the service was great!
45 minutes to get your drink is just too long. Love the place, but the service was not great this visit. In the past we have had a much better experience!

Seated at the bar, overlooking the magic of Bar Oso's food preparation, I could not get enough of it — three nights in a row. It's hard to decide what's been more captivating: the amazing aromas of literally everything I tasted (who would've thought that cumin is the perfect addition to a soup of tomato cream? Maple glazed bacon in their Oso Sour? Terrine de volaille with a heavenly fragrance and consistency? Oh and those short ribs?) or the perfect coordination of the movements behind the bar in a highly organized, ultra dense mis-en-place, featuring 2, sometimes 3 virtuosos assembling food; balancing serving plates of chocolate cake, sliced to precision with blades dipped in boiling water; sous-vide simmering meats; cheeses and charcuterie — both cured and fresh — arranged to perfection.

You would think a Spanish tapas place would use really good olive oil but alas this place wasn't the night I was there........ Sad
Earlier in the day, I went to another bar and had a small portion of nachos, which turned out to be enough for 4 people. This place goes to the other extreme and portions are very small, as you expect with tapas. The food was very good but the service was was a little slow. It was busy time, but 1 more member of staff would have helped. Good for profit, I guess, but not so good for customers. Overall a nice meal, but not the greatest.

Great place. Has some organic wine which was why we went there. Had the scallops which were sliced really thin but great, and the charcuterie board where everything on it was yummy. Had the special ham app and the shrimp app - my husband said they were delicious. There are only a few reservations on OpenTable per evening so make your reservation early, this place fills up!
The tables are a little too close together. It was difficult to get in and out.
