As soon as you walk in you notice the lights, the decorations and the ambience. It’s lovely and comfortable at the same time. Our server was friendly and knew the menu and made recommendations. We share some small plates and tried the tacos- everything was delicious! Already making plans for what to try next time we visit!

With two ceviche menu items, Bar Sophia is at the top of my favorite places to eat. The decor is lively and artistic, the service is always great, and the food is as beautiful to look at as it is to consume.

What a fun and magical place! I can't say enough about Bar Sophia. If you want a unique dining experience in a beautiful space...this is it! The host Andre always greets you with the warmest smile and is always so attentive that you feel like VIPs every time you walk in. The servers are cheerful, so knowledgeable about the menu, and the service is always quick. And the food...I can't EVEN! Try the empananadas for brunch...they are amazing! Thanks Bar Sophia for always treating me so well!

Well the Video says it all. We arrived the door was open and no one was in the Restaurant… not a soul. If your going to close for bad weather maybe remember to stop your bookings.

Delicious Food. The Brussel sprouts & tacos were excellent. The tartare was good but the chips to carry it could have been a better choice. The dining room was a little too chilly to be in without a jacket. The mixed drinks were excellent.

Beautifully decorated restaurant, light and bright atmosphere with Latin music. It was a perfect day to enjoy lunch on the patio. Attentive service and tasty food. The elote was nice. I had better / sweeter corn but the toppings were well balanced, bright and fresh. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. The presentation was vibrant and the flavors were popping. The churros were a great way to end the meal. Overall pleasant lunch with view on the Halifax Harbor.

The food was phenomenal, we shared a few apps and mains. The brussels sprouts and beef tacos were exceptionally good, the yucca fries were okay, a bit over seasoned and dry. The cauliflower was a much bigger portion than expected (a pleasant surprise) and we shared a mixed meat plate with veggies and potatoes that had tons of flavour although it was a tad dry as well and had no sauce. The drinks were a bit of a let down given the price point. I had the naked and famous which was alright but small and not worth 19$ and I also had a marg with hibiscus and cinnamon that did not pair well with the food at all. However their classic marg was fantastic. Service was decent but nothing spectacular. Our server seemed a tad cold in the beginning not sure if it was because we asked to sit inside rather than on the patio but she warmed up to us a bit throughout the night. The bill was certainly high - we ordered more drinks than usual because I did not love my first two, but we would return for the quality of the food for sure. The music was also great I would go back for margs and apps on a Saturday night.

Excellent food and atmosphere! Tacos are wonderful and the churros are not to be missed. Would also recommend the empanadas, fish of the day and the mixed grill (the latter is huge!) We discovered Bar Sofia in February on a trip to halifax and enjoyed it so much we had to go back on our most recent trip.

We were disappointed the marinated tomato salad had changed, but change was not reflected on the menu. What we were served was missing all ingredients listed on menu, besides tomatoes. Was not worth the price, and it was the reason my friend picked Bar Sofia. It was also odd that they sat someone directly beside us when the whole restaurant was empty. There could have been a separation of one table to create more privacy in the empty restaurant.

Not sure why they have different servers serving the same table.. we had 4 different waitresses and only one seemed interested in her job. Took a solid 10 min for water and another 10 minutes for drinks that were just sitting at the bar; the bartender decided to bring them over. The food was good, and beautiful don’t get me wrong, but I wouldn’t rush back by any means.

Meh. We arrived at 7 for our 7 pm reservation. The hostess was less than pleasant and really kind of stressed looking and it took about 7 minutes to get us to a table. Her main concern was not to wish us a good stay and pleasant night but rather to tell us that the restaurant was really busy and we had to clear out by 9 pm. Nice. The menus were dirty with food and drink stains and tatty looking. The food was ok... the empanadas were dry, the pork tacos were tasty. the waiter poured the entire bottle of wine we ordered into our four glasses rather than only pouring some and refilling later (perhaps one of our friends dining wouldn't have wanted so much wine?). The music was SO LOUD that it was hard to hear anything else but the music. Impression: more like a really expensive university cafeteria where the main concern is moving people through so you can make more money rather than having people enjoy their stay and food and drinks. Will have to think carefully before returning.

Usually have a great time here but this past Saturday was disappointing. We wanted to take our friends who have never been so we weee super excited. Service was sub par. Didn’t get asked the entire night if I wanted a refill on my drink. My husbands chicken and steak was over cooked and my fish tacos were just not as good as they usually are and just looked super sloppy. Going off this experience alone, wouldn’t recommend.
