The staff and ambiance are first-class; the server's were very knowledgeable and super-friendly, hostess was great, and the chef's came out and provided a detailed description of the meals. The fish taco was delicious, the chori papa and duck chaufa were also great, although I would have liked a bit more and chunkier pieces of chorizo and duck in each dish respectively. The red sangria was not too good, and almost tasted like it was powdered. Some fresh fruit in the bottom would have gone a long way.
Serve hot food with some sort of bread , at list with entree which has broth like beef tenderloin.Plan and organize service, adjust serving food from kitchen and front of the house server and communicate to each other.
Nice place with friendly staff. Loved the taste of the fresh ingredients. The cocktails were expertly made and attentive servers! Left a great impression on me
As I said in my first review, we will be back and back we came! Very attentive and helpful staff. Our hostess recommended heading up to the second floor lounge for a pre-drink while we waited for our other guests to arrive. Nice ambiance and good selection of appetizers. When we returned to the restaurant for our meal a suggested was made that four of us share the "Eat like Jefe" which is a complete meal of Ceviches, Chorizo Tortillas, Duck Chaufa (think of it as Latin American meets Korean Bibibab!) and a perfectly medium rare prepared steak with avocado and yuca fries. Everything came at a good pace and the flavours and preparation perfect. It was a great "family style" sharing experience. No room for desert this time! One request, during traditional dining hours (like before 8:30 / 9:00 PM) turn down the music a little so we can hear our table conversation. Yes I know King Street West is a busy night out / party area, but we go out to enjoy the food and talk (not yell) across the table.
The ceviche is always amazing. Great menu for family style dining and sangria or margarita pitchers.
Outstanding food, great, attentive server. Will definitely return.
Great ambiance! Excellent customer service. Smaller portions but food is good.
Service was disappointing from the moment we arrived. Front staff just looked at us like we weren’t there to eat. Waiter was aloof and forgetful. Food was salty. Overall, very poor experience. Won’t be going back.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal with an amazing waitress. And it wasn’t just one waitress, but many would stop by and make sure we had what we needed but not overbearing. Perfect night in Toronto. We’ll definitely come back on our next visit to your amazing city!
We went for a birthday dinner with two friends. Our server was very pleasant and welcoming. She was being shadowed by a new server who was also very friendly and already knowledgeable.
Our food was outstanding, so flavourful! Everyone loved their meal.
I cannot wait to go back!
The food was delicious but the music was so loud you couldn’t even hear the person beside you. We were disappointed because we went out for dinner to catch up with friends, and found ourselves in a very loud bar unable to talk.
As always we had a great experience at Baro. The service is always excellent. The food and drinks were divine and the music was perfect.
Will be back many Friday and Saturday nights this summer.
Our dining experience at Baro was wonderful. The food and service was top notch. The only downside was that it was so loud we could not hear one another across the table. It was very difficult to conduct business.
A nice casual spot. Great atmosphere. An interesting variety of menu choices. Service is a wee bit slow.
I love Baro! This was my third visit and it’s always great.
Food was amazing, service was fantastic and loved the decor! It’s a unique spot which made it even more fun. Will definitely recommend and go back!
Ceviche! Margaritas yum!
Great place, but on that night, it was uncomfortably cold.
Fantastic still, after our third visit. We’ll keep coming back and recommending to friends
Old friends getting together after a while. We all LOVED the food at Baro. Very tasty and very reasonably priced even with 2 pitchers of Sangria. However, the music was so loud that we had to shout at each other to carry our conversations. The atmosphere was so lively and energetic, the place really doesn’t need any loud music. We would all go back only if it’s less noisy and suitable for normal dinner conversation. Food is excellent nevertheless.
I would visit again in a heartbeat!
Yes I will be back. This was our first time at Baro. This is a good addition to the King Street West dining scene. Recommend you take one of two approaches to dining. There is a great assortment of appetizers that should be shared at the table. The Shrimp Ceviche was excellent. The guacamole came with an assortment of chip flavours, making for a very nice change from the usual. Yuca Fritas went so fast we had to place a second order! I said there was two approaches. The main dishes are prepared as individual servings with accompanying vegetables / starches so you could eat them solo. We added a few more appetizers and scaled back on the mains and shared them "family style". The Arroz Con Pollo was perfectly done. No dryness in the chicken. The roasted cod was equally well prepared. The decor is comfortable with an open kitchen, visible to all. Service was attentive, responsive and not overbearing.
I’ve been to Baro on multiple occasions and it never disappoints. Great service, great food (the ceviche is to die for), great music and ambiance! One of my favourites in the city.
Four of us enjoyed a wonderful pitcher of sangria, chicken wings, guac and chips, pancakes, kale salad, all awesome!! Service great too. Just come.
I found the duck rice dish a bit overpriced. Tasty but pretty basic.
Food was very good. We had the egg's benedict which was creatively done. I really like the tobasco hollandaise. Laura was our server and she was fantastic! Slightly annoying that we wanted to order an item from the menu without mayo but we weren't allowed as per the head chef's rules. Reasoning was that it would make the dish too dry. My partner actually likes very plain tasting food, doesn't eat sauce on anything, and hates mayo so we just ended up not ordering it. Annoying for me because we wanted to order the mayo on the side so we could share the dish, but that wasn't even acceptable to Chef.
Went for brunch and Loved the food! Great service! Would totally recommend it.
I accidentally made our reservation for the wrong time so we were seated upstairs at a small table, which was fine because the music was BUMPIN! (All night)
Out of the things we ordered I would recommend the charred octopus and the pasta dish. The octopus gave Gustos' a run for its money! The pasta was gnocchi type pasta and was amazing. Really unique flavours. Oh and the shrimp ceviche was good as well!
We also had the beef empanadas and chicken wings (which needed some salt) and a fish taco ($8 for ONE taco...... anyway) I didn't order the fish taco, but the other two items I could have done without.
The drinks are expensive, but most of them are at least 2oz from what I remember. So the price does make sense.
I would definitely visit again. I love the vibe upstairs!
Went for Sunday brunch. Margarita pitcher was cheap at $20, the side of rice and beans was the price of a full meal at $12 and was parboiled steamed rice with some beans on it... Maybe 3 tbsps (after cooked). Everything else was reasonable, do not get the sides though.
Superb dining experience! Amazing flavours and presentation! A gem on King Street!
Very few veg options. Limited wine selection. Oysters were ok, the food was very tasty and creative. The constant reminder to finish by 8pm was a little jarring. The ocassion was a birthday and it was nice that the servers brought out a vase with flowers to take home. Being a cynic I wondered if it was one that had been forgotten by another group.
Awesome experience, great service and the food was outstanding!
The food was great, and came out as expected. The service was friendly and perfectly-paced. The atmosphere was great for a brunch, and uniquely-Latin. Other than ending my date on a sour note, the experience was lovely.
Fantastically friendly service, delicious food, terrific ambience.
Love the food and vibe, however we kept being push to order and leave. There were more than a few spots available. Understand the 2 hour dinner, but other tables didn’t seem to be rush.
Nice decor, great food. You can see the kitchen. N
Brunch was delicious - service was sub par. Waitress wasn't very friendly, did not seem interested in checking in on us, had to ask other servers to get our waitress on two different occasions.
But the brunch was amazing! Been here a few times and the food never disappoints.
Amazing Latin American restaurant....will definitely be back!
Every dish we ordered was delicious; we even got a second order of the shrimp ceviche because it was so tasty. That being said, the second order of ceviche had a long black hair in it. We told the server and she was very professional and apologetic about it (the hair was clearly not hers).
Otherwise, the food was really good, service was fantastic, and cocktails were delicious (highly recommend the margarita pitcher).
The food prices are reasonable, but the cocktails will really rack up your bill.
