Uno, Dos, Tres..Baro! Derived from the Latin American slang word for “barrio” (meaning “neighbourhood”) we bring you our Baro, home of Chef Steve Gonzalez. The Latin spirit is undeniably contagious. From the southern tips of Patagonia in Argentina and Chile, to the lively street cultures of Colombia, Uruguay and Brazil, the energy of its diverse people radiates throughout the cities. It livens the neighbourhood and awakens the Baros! Baro is first and foremost a restaurant, showcasing an exceptional cocktail program and refined dishes along with fan favourites from Valdez. Baro will also feature a 2nd floor Raw Bar Lounge. To top things off, we created The Loft, a 3rd floor, 1,850 sq. ft. event space that we know you will love.

Baro Ratings and Reviews
The server was awful she shouldn't work in a restaurant
Rude obnoxious and arrogant
Loved the food!! Loved the atmosphere!! We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful server - woman from Costa Rica - who was very fun, made great menu selections for us and really added to our enjoyment of the evening. And the food was fantastic.
Great first experience. Our waitress was great. Very friendly staff!
Underwhelming food for price(salty). Poor management of two hour table limit. Very noisy. Regular diner on king strip, less value for money than other restaurants in the immediate area. 6pm reservation, arrived early, advised at 8pm after noticing the waitress hovering that the manager came over the day there is a 2 hour limit and that they needed the table. While an exciting concept poorly executed.
An amazing place with attention to every detail from the incredible food choices, the amazing menu and the stunning décor. I cant say enough great things about the place.
Amazing place! Service was fantastic and the food was incredible. It was a dual birthday and the staff left a hand written card for us wishing us a happy birthday! Very nice touch!
Food and atmosphere were great. Our waitress was so fun and sweet. The hostess at the front was rude, did not smile, seemed annoyed and was not welcoming at all.
Portions were very small. An eggs benny for $16 is normal downtown but the portion was very very small. It was a great atmosphere for a group of us to catch up. Their tea selection was awesome; a blue ginger and lemon tea changed colors and was soothing for a breakfast.
Great decor and Latin inspired dishes like chimichurri and flank steak and empanadas and arepas. Great cocktails and margarita pitchers
Service was a bit odd. Waitress was the usual stuck up foolishness on King West but the rest the staff made up for her. Nothing there is overwhelmingly good but I do suggest the duck confit rice.
The ceviche flight was outstanding. The fish dish however was a bit over cooked.
We enjoyed our meals very much. I ordered the Platas of Empanadas and a Taco. I probably could have ordered 1 more thing. My friends ordered mains. Some dishes were pretty reasonable and a few were a bit pricey. My suggestion is to have small versions of some of the pricey options like the Duck Rice.
always a good experience just wished the chaufa rice was available for brunch..
Having traveled, dined and partied in Colombia Baro elevates the quisine to fresh and sophisticated levels while adding fun street food twists. Generous portions make it good value and the staff were knowledgable and fun. It was a great night.
Food was totally uninteresting. Service mediocre. Only good thing is ambience. Won't last in my opinion.
Food and service were great! Katarina, our server, was very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. Only issue we had was it took a little long to get drinks at times; otherwise everything else was great.
Excellent, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Great food. Amazing vibe. Loved the music.
Baro has a very nice, energetic vibe, but the food does not impress. We were a group of 7 so we ordered a good chunk of the menu. Some of what we ate was ok. I think the duck fried rice was the best thing I ate. Unfortunately, the raw beef appetizer was inedible - cold potatoes wrapped in beef. It should not be on the menu. Pork main was way over cooked. Overall nothing we ate was memorable. Toronto has an amazing food scene and Baro did not compete. I will say the cocktails were delicious. Maybe a good spot for a drink before eating somewhere else.
First time at the venue as I live down the street and in the industry. Overall experience, customer service and food was excellent.
Always a great time, great service, great atmosphere- we have been coming here since it opened and there isn't one negative thing I can say about Baro ! Love it !
Excellent food and ambience . Music is a little bit to loud if you want to talk. But over all. I will recommend it and i will be back
the tall costa rican waitress girl was excellent. she did a great job and made us feel good!
Not cheap, but fantastic
Our server Jameson was wonderful. And thanks once again for acknowledging the special occasion and surprising the ladies with a bottle of bubbles - greatly appreciated!
Great ambiance and latin music. Food just ok. Good for the night club upper level
We loved it when it was Valdez and love it more as Baro! One of our favourite go to places for our friends and family. Sangria is the best in the city and the food is authentic and delicious! Can't wait to check out the roof top when it's done. Staff and manager were fun and welcoming!
My husband and I had dinner at Baro on a Monday night before we went to a concert at the Rogers Centre. We got there just before our 6PM reservation, and it was deserted. By the time we left (around 7:15) it was absolutely packed with not an empty chair. We had started with the guac/salsa appetizer, followed by the flight ceviches, pulpo, chori papa and OG duck chaufa. We paired our dinner with a bottle of prosecco.
Everything was flavourful and a delight to look at (my husband was particularly taken with the mini shrimp ceviche tacos).
The one negative comment I have is the nickel-and-diming approach. We asked for hot sauce and were charged $1 on the bill. Also, we ask for extra chips to finish the gauc/salsa and were charged $5 extra. Given that our bill was almost $200, it seemed very petty to charge $6 extra for things that are typically complimentary. (We were also not told of the additional cost until we received the bill.) It left a bad taste in our mouth and we will not be back… Los Colibris is still our fave Latin place in the city.
The service and ambiance in the restaurant were top notch.
We had a bottle of great wine for $50. We really enjoyed a couple of the choices on the mixed ceviche platter, but then things went downhill from there.
Our waitress said the 'Duck Confit' was highly recommended. By the menu description and price (over $30) I was expecting a significant piece of duck. Instead, what arrived was a huge bowl of fried rice which had one or two slivers of heavily fried duck hidden among loads of rice and some garnish. While there may have been some nice flavours, the whole thing was so salty and served so hot, that I didn't really notice how it tasted. If this rice bowl had cost $12 in a Chinese restaurant I might have enjoyed it. The 'pork belly', (also well over $30 I can't remember the exact price) was actually some crackling next to a pretty dry and tough pork chop.
I returned the duck, and chose some more ceviche as an alternate. But when this arrived the salt level was off the charts. By the way my mouth was tingling 2 hours later, I would guess this might have been MSG, not salt.
Again, the service was top notch - the whole return of the duck/replacement ceviche was handled in a friendly way and the rice bowl was removed from the bill. I can imagine a big group of friends overlooking any of the above in favour of the atmosphere and location, but I'm sure there is much better food and value to be found elsewhere on King West and I can't see myself returning here anytime soon.
Great atmosphere and wonderful service, will definitely recommend it!! Thanks again for the warm greeting!!
Food was mediocre unfortunately but service made up for it
Really well made food, creative and beautifully presented. Service was professional and friendly. Nice looking restaurant. Highly recommended.
Went to Baro for the first time for a Bacheloette party on Saturday, August 12th. Amazing food and great atmosphere. We all had a great time! Would definitely recommend the place!
Good was either overlooked or undercooked. Very pricey for the quality of the food. They even charge for spicy sauce. Host was rude went we announced ourselves at the entrance
Overall it was a good experience. The atmosphere and food were great. I was slightly disappointed with the speed of the service (it took a very long time to receive our main course and my food came 8 minutes before my friends).
Loved the Octopus and the Branzino! Great night with friends.
Great vibe, music, food and staff! Cocktail list is amazing!
Great atmosphere and service and the food is absolutely delicious!!!
The food was amazing. It's a bit pricey but so worth it. The only issue we had was that after spending over $250 we were told that there was a reservation at 8pm (we had arrived at 6pm) so we were being rushed. I was hoping me and my friends would be able to stay till at least 8:30pm or a bit longer since we were planning to stay for the music which is on the third floor.
