Pre concert meal...great atmosphere and different food choice avoiding you franchise dives
My favourite place
It was amazing
I had a reservation. It was honoured. Hostesses were pleasant. We got a nice spacious table. The server was efficient and seemed happy. The vibe was cool and the music was at the perfect volume. All in all a great experience
Amazing service and atmosphere. Food is tapas style so great for sharing. Fun atmoshere and music for a night out . Jefferson the manager is always so kind and welcoming. Love this place ❤️
The food was great. It's an inventive and creative take on latin cuisine - as such, it is latin inspired. We had the yuca fries, empanadas, chori papa, and pulpo - for the most part all good, but the pulpo was just a tad chewy. Wine offerings are just okay. The ambience is lively with music in the background - definitely not the place for a quiet evening with meaningful conversation. Service was fine. It took about 10 minutes to be seated, despite the fact that there was only one other person ahead of me. We ordered four items from the shareables section - 3 out of the 4 came out at the same time. It would have been nice if these had been staggered. Overall, a bit overpriced for the experience - but, it is Toronto, and I figure we are paying for the real estate location....
We made a reservation for 6 people on a Saturday night and once we reached the restaurant our reservation had grown up to 9 people. The restaurant was fully booked but our server was so kind and helped us secure more seating for our party right beside our table. Her service was wonderful- extremely warm and attentive which is not what you would expect at a King West hot spot. The food came out overcooked but I think it would be worth another chance on a less busy night. Ceviche is a must try! Ambiance was fantastic. Music and energy are perfect for getting your Saturday night out started. If you're trying to move to the second floor for drinks, go earlier. Pablo's was full by 11:30 and we could not get in so we went around the back to Escobar's. Cool spot but the crowd got younger as the night went on. Staff was great though.
Great atmosphere and food. Service was attentive to allergy needs. Food was generally very good although the OG Duck Chaufa was a bit of a letdown.
“literally the best idea ever”
- Olivia, Baro Server
Wonderful server!! Also thank you to Jefferson for your hospitality!
Great food, and great service!!!
I am a huge fan of Baro, it is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I recommend it to everyone!
I was disappointed to see that some of the ceviches that were previously on the menu had been removed.
I cannot have gluten and some of the ceviches that were removed were the gluten free options I had come to love previously. I love the food, and have for some time, but I am less inclined to come back if the GF options are fewer.
Everyone I was with, loved the food and will be returning soon.
Overall staff seemed overwhelmed during our brunch visit even though not that busy. Other tables also noted this. Took too long to get condiments salt and pepper so food got cold. Really like this restaurant for dinner, food is usually great, drinks impressive. Will go back but not for brunch.
The restaurant has a very nice decor and ambiance. When I spoke to the staff over the phone I explained to them that we were celebrating a birthday I also told them upon arrival. They really didn’t do much for the birthday person other than leaving a generic piece of paper on the table stating that it was someone’s birthday. No happy birthday written on the dessert plate. Nothing! The food was nothing memorable. The food at bar Isabel or Fonda Lola was far superior to this experience. So much so that members at the table were pulling up photos on their phones reminiscing about the wonderful dishes we had at those restaurant. The octopus was rubbery. We ordered the empanadas there were 4 of us at the table and they brought 3 they should have charged us for an extra one. At Ge the end of the meal we ordered americanos and both mugs had chips in the ceramic right on the rim where you would drink from. The dessert options were not extraordinary. Churos and shortbread cookies.
The staff were pleasant enough but the night didn’t leave us with a culinary experience that we will rush to repeat. I left the dinner and went to another party with friends and told people not to bother trying this restaurant. It wasn’t memorable.
Food is pedestrian. Server was overbearing; she kept trying to clear our plates/dishes even though it was clear we weren't done yet. As a result, it felt like we were being rushed even though restaurant was nearly empty.
We went with a group of friends and our waitress was very attentive. The noise level in the restaurant is LOUD so I found that we had to yell over one another just to speak to the person across the table. I ordered the Tiradito - found it was too over dressed with sauces. Wasn't able to even taste the fish. So I would not recommend it. The Fish Tacos were very basic. Albondigas - these were my favorite of everything I ordered - I recommend ordering this. My husband ordred the Arroz con Pollo and enjoyed that - good portion size. Drinks were competitively priced for Downtown Toronto. The interiors of this restaurant is stunning! Great ambiance. Went upstairs to the bar after dinner, which was a nice way to end the night.
Good food and service but the noise level was unpleasant.
Location is really good. Service was perfect. Food was ok. Overall we had a good time.
My Son and I, visiting Toronto for the first time, searched randomly for a restaurant and chose Baro because we liked the menu and the sassy vibe from the website. Baro did NOT disappoint. The food was amazing and the service was great. We had ordered chicken wings and Chori Papa, both really good. My son liked the smoke BBQ sauce with the wings and the Chori Papa was creamy, and delicious. Before our appetizers arrived, AJ behind the bar gave us a sample of the award winning guacamole, salsa and chips and wow it was good. Four different kinds of chips made that CGS over the top.
For mains the son had the whole fried fish (great) and i and the Og Duck Chaufa. Crazy good and you have to try it. The son took the left over and raved about it the next day.
AJ then gave us a sample of the Churro for dessert and it was excellent.
We had such a good night celebrating our birthdays and will go back next time in Toronto. Thanks AJ and Christina for making our night extra special.
Excellent service. The Mastercard Priceless Experience was incredible. Food, drinks value service all of it. Escobar was perfect for the occasion as well. Am going to recommend this to everyone I know !
Everything about this place was wonderful! The food, the ambience and the staff were excellent. My girlfriends and I will definitely be back and soon!
Amazing food and great service. Can’t wait to go back!
Horrible quality food and service! We ordered fish tacos..salad..and ceviche. The fish was really old and stinky we couldn't eat it (feel sick the next day from one bite). The salad was plain just arugula and ceviche was okay nothing special. They didn't offer us to order something else since the kitchens was closed. The food should be inspected!
The food is great but overly expensive. Despecially the duck entre which is just a giant bowl of rice with some duck in it. There was no warning that that is what we were ordering.
The food is extremely flavourful. The Yuca Frita is a must-try! The tres leche cake is delectable!!!
This is my second time here. The food was the reason that drew me back. Everything on the menu is great. Service is awesome. I will for sure come back and also recommend this to friends.
Had a great anniversary dinner at Baro. Service was great, food was delicious, and the drinks were awesome. Will certainly be back.
Food was very good, very cool ambience. The chips are various root vegetables chips not only corn tortillas, Guacamole was espectacular!
Pisco Sour and Baro Sour drinks were very tasty as well!
One of the best restaurants experiences I have had! Food was amazing, every dish we tried was delicious. Our server made choosing our share plates much easier and her recommendations were great! Best service I have received in any restaurant, will definitely be back!
Amazing food and energetic ambience. Staff was super friendly and so welcoming. I would highly recommend.
Great spot, great food, great service, however music was a little too loud to hold a proper conversation in a group. There were 5 of us and it was difficult for us to hear each other from across the table which was a pity because everything else was fantastic!
Amazing unique food, engaging staff, and a great modern atmosphere
Had our Anniversary Dinner at Baro Saturday night. We were given a complimentary dessert of house-made Alfajores and the hostess offered us tickets to a TIFF show that evening! A great date night on King Street!
Brunch for two!
Arrived Saturday afternoon for a brunch. Loved the interiors - spacious, open, cozy and eclectic. Shared the Empenadas and Chori Papi (egg skillet dish). Food was on point. Flavourful and creative. Service was also great.
Would return again for dinner!
Food is always on point. Our server Laura was very atttentative. Always a great experience.
Great food and the atmosphere is nice. The prices are reasonable too for the potion sizes.
The manager was nice and made sure our food was good.
It was awesome
Friendly hosts, great atmosphere, service was average.... expected to be wowed by the food but was unimpressed. Inca trail salad was salty, tiradito was presented beautifully although sweetness from the passionfruit & lulo was over powering, chicken wings were average. Emapandas were a tasty starter, and churros a sweet crispy end, everything in between not so much.
They had no air conditioning and had fans around the restaurant. Brutal to eat in 35 degree weather next to the kitchen. No compensation, or drink offer. Not even the 3$ popsicle at end of night. Bad customer service. Disappointed. We won’t be coming back.
