Barton G. The Restaurant - Chicago
After successful opening in Miami and Los Angeles, the restaurant is now opening a sister space in Chicago. The creation of events impresario Barton G. Weiss whose innovative approach to entertaining has received worldwide acclaim.
The restaurant does not take reservations for dessert only. Table reservations are exclusively for guests ordering entrees.
Bar Menu Available Sunday - Thursday 3pm to 10pm
Friday and Saturday 3pm to 11pm
Food and experience were awesome..the wait for service and food was super lacking. It's pricey, but not overpriced.
Barton G makes the “presentation of the food” the star of the show. It’s like a gala- where every dish makes an entrance and is flooded with flashes from the endearing patrons as they make desperate attempts to get the perfect photo.
Super fun, whimsical ...and expensive. The experience is worth it.
Wonderful cocktails. Great food. I enjoyed the “old fashioned” pork chop-served with a sauce made from the “old fashioned” cocktail. The jambalaya and lobster Mac n cheese were also fabulous.
The dollar bill dessert was decadent.
Although costly, many of the dishes can be shared. Absolutely fun time. Must visit.
Amazing experience! Great for celebrating a special occasion. The food tastes great and service was excellent. While the elaborate presentation of the meals are fun they do take up a lot of space on the tables which are not very big. Also, the dessert we wanted had sold out. We were told that everything is made fresh so they do tend to run out of items quite frequently. That was disappointing.
The service was very slow and off. Our food runners brought the wrong entree to the table. When the food finally came out, one of the entrees had human hair. The manager came back and said it didn’t come from her employees, insinuating that we were lying and the hair came from us. They comped the entree but still lacked a genuine apology for the mistake. The price compared to the service is not what you’d expect. Still came for the experience which was nice and fun but not somewhere I would dine and recommend on the regular.
Brunch. You need to have at least 6 people to share a regular order Interestingandvtgeatrical but no added value to the brunch experience.
I would recommend Barton G for a fun night with friends. The presentation of each course was unique. and delicious!
My only complaint is that they do not honor reservations. We had a 7:45 reservation and didn't get seated until 9:00. They did offer us a table upstairs, but then you miss the ambiance of the restaurant.
Not worth the money. Front desk disorganized, many complaints about how long post-reservation time seating was taking place.
On walking in the place was fun, inviting and sexy. My party and I were sat immediately, right next to the kitchen, great place to see the masterpieces come out. I was very impressed by the presentations of the food. Not so impressed by service. Busser rudely took charger right for under me reading a menu without saying a word. Water took longer than expected about 10 mins. After drink order, food order took 45 mins. No one could speil a dish. Although they could talk all day about presentation. I had salmon and I never knew there was a sauce in the paint can I could have had with my meal. Short ribs came out tough but chef was very commadating and sent us out a delicious lobster pot pie, mac and cheese was good. Filet mignon had no sides which would have been a good time to upsell considering we were hungery and had no idea sold solo at 51, great peice of meat though. Server did however push for dessert with all his heart. Next time. I think it was way to many people on the working the were practically bumping into one another. I think server knowledge, service, and refinery would make this place a gem.
Expect to spend a lot and you’ll have a good time. Great place for special occasions. The food and drinks were amazing and worth every penny!!
Excellent service ...laughing out loud shrimp was my favorite I’ll be back one day
Everything was good but one of the bus boys blew his nose in the bathroom and didn’t wash his hands
As soon as we heard Barton G opened in Chicago my boyfriend and I planned right away to go and experience the restaurant we love to dine at while in Miami.
We missed our first reservation so we actually stayed an extra night in Chicago just to make it the next evening. It was our 2 year anniversary and we knew we wanted a special dinner.
The food like always was amazing. Drinks were good. Here’s where they lacked; when called to confirm my reservation - I was asked if I wanted sparklers with dessert for the occasion and I said yes. No sparklers were brought out with dessert and actually our anniversary wasn’t even brought up at all throughout the whole night. There was a large party behind my table where it seemed every employee was tending to. This is not an excuse for the poor service we received at Barton G. We have gone to Barton G probably close to 6 -7 times in the past 2-3 years. For a restaurant of that caliber and dining/ cost experience - that’s almost unheard of. And to fly from NY just to experience it with no acknowledgment made this a less than fun/ memorable experience for us.
For being open for less than a month - you guys need to get it together as far as service goes. That’s one of the reasons why people dine at your establishment.
Food and presentation was good. Service still has some kinks to work out. I will give them another chance after they've been open for a few months.
The presentation was on point! The service was excellent. I would definitely go back again.
new restaurant just opened. just need to work out the new kinks other than that everything was great.
Overpriced. Food was poor. They were out of many things. Poor slow service. Restaurant was so hot. Also, as good came out of the kitchen we saw contamination - one of the desserts is a huge tower of cotton candy. The tower fell over and landed into the waitresses hair, and she still continued to serve it to her table.
Exceptional presentations. A truly unique dinning experience
This was a horrible value, mediocre service and nowhere near worth the price of the bill. A place to go one time. Won’t last.
Food wasn’t good but presentation is very interesting.
Smells like Benihana inside, poor service gross food
While the "circus" element of this place is over the top, the table was far too small for the large presentations of food. The height of the pieces were mostly way too tall as well - we could barely see each other to carry on a conversation. Our waiter, although very nice, was poorly trained and seemed to be confused most of the evening. We were seated in the upstairs room which has a whole different vibe then the downstairs restaurant. It was more like being in a banquet facility - ambiance was pretty boring. Patrons should be warned of the potential of being seated outside of the main dining room. The food was average in quality and taste but the prices were at the higher end so we expected better. This venue is probably good for a larger group of people as there would be more table space for a few presentations rather than four in a small table top the size of a small card table.
Everything was fantastic. Food presentations are phenomenal. Service was quick as well. Highly recommend!
Awesome experience, Lamb shank was delicious meat was falling off the bone, steak so tender you can cut it with a butter knife, and 1 drink will have you feeling nice! WORTH IT!
We went to celebrate my sons 29th birthday. The restaurant is beautiful. The
idea is fun . We ordered appetizers. The sliders and pop corn shrimp were very good. But it was ridiculous the size of the portions for the price, tiny....
My meat loaf came Raw and cold when I cut into it. I had to send it back. They made me another, which was fine. The presentations are very cute but that’s all I really have to say. Your paying for the serving pieces that get reused over and over. They are fun and large. If your sitting at a table of two don’t expect to see and talk to your companion across the table.
My review :
They need to either lower the prices or make the food portions larger. The best value for the money is dessert.
From the moment we walked in they seemed very unorganized. We were walked to two different tables that weren’t set in the main dining room before they brought us to a third table upstairs in what seems like an overfill space. To be completely honest the upstairs space was awful, it reminded all of us of a crappy wedding reception space, not to mention the speaker above us was blown so we were listening to it crackle for the entire dinner. Our server was sweet and knowledgeable, she did a great job explaining the drinks and the menu. The food presentations were neat and creative, however the food itself was awful quality and preparation. My duck was extremely over cooked, as was my fiancé’s jambalaya. They should focus a little more on the ambiance and food if you want any repeat business here in Chicago. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, at that price point there are hundreds of better restaurants in the city.
Victor (?) did a great job taking care of us. The drink service was very slow (35 min - acknowledge 3-weeks into opening still working kinks out) but victor was empowered to comp our drinks and ensure we had everything we needed. Fun place. Will be back.
This is a great restaurant for instagram, but not really to enjoy a meal. The plates that were used made it near impossible to actually talk to my wife because the table needed to be nearly five feet wide to fit the plates. The food was nothing special at all. We had oysters, which hadn’t been properly cleaned so they were gritty, lobster, which was cooked well, but the shell wasn’t peeled well meaning I had to manhandle the shell with my hands because there were no crackers, to start. Followed by the Bronzino for myself, the plate again caused issues not only in the display but the eating. Different parts of the dish were spread over four different locations and there was no indication of what paired with what. My wife had the tuna, which had a great show and the tuna was good, but the accompanying mushroom pockets were okay at best. While the place is very cool to see once, I don’t think the cost was justified. If the service was good I think it would have helped, but we got drinks at the beginning that were finished before we got our starters and didn’t get an offer of another until we were ordering dessert. Overall, okay to go once, but I would have liked the food and service to be a lot higher quality for the price. Also interesting little piece, we weren’t asked once about the food, it was all about the displays.
The servers are not attentive. The food was not good! The props was fantastic something we never seen before.. The restaurant can use more staff!
This was a fantastic experience. My guests and I had a great time.
Props steal show. Food is mediocre.
The staff needs a refresher on service.
Amazing food and amazing service!
Excellent service my waitress was phenomenal pleasant, attentive, great performance
We had an unbelievable experience. The restaurant looks amazing. Service was so good. The food so deliscious. Awesome ambience! Great music!!
They need to work some kinks out. I visited the Miami location at Christmas time and service in Miami was stellar. So compared to the Chicago location they definitely need to do some work. The waitress forgot my friends drink. It’s very slow in getting things removed from the table. Waiting for different entrées. And the whole restaurant wasn’t full.
The overall experience was fantastic. The food was well seasoned and the presentations were very attractive. The only issue that I unfortunately have to report is that the wait staff and my waitress must’ve had a miscommunication. I discovered the next day that my leftovers were not packed up as I thought. I called and left a message for the GM explaining what happened and have yet to hear from them.
Food really needs work -
It was a absolutely amazing and exceed my bday expectations
The experience and presentation was amazing. Of course you’re probably wondering how’s the food... well wonder no more. The food is just as exemplary as the service and presentation! I cannot wait to go back!
