Bas Rouge Ratings and Reviews
Amazing food an service
A great choice for Valentine's Day or other special occasion. A bit pricey but really is worth it.
Wunderbar! Fantastic tasting menu, and as always amazing food, wine and SERVICE. What a treat. As if NYC came to Easton.
Great service and great food. Still a bit pricy for everyday dining. Great wine list.
Finally a restaurant in Easton that replaces the Bartlett Pear Inn. One of 3 restaurants on the Eastern Shore that are MOST go to. Das Rouge, 208 Talbot, and Heirloom. The top wine list outside of Charleston's in Baltimore. Must try the sweetbreads, 200 year sour dough bread starter. Service was simply stellar.
We toasted the New Year with a delicious lunch in a beautiful, warm and friendly surround -- we look forward to returning soon
The place is lovely, the maitre'd gracious, the food and wine exceptional but the waitress is imperious and unhelpful to the point the otherwise perfect experience was spoiled. How sad.
Bas Rouge is a superb addition to the Easton dining scene. Beautiful dining room, exquisite service, amazing china & crystal glassware, and memorable food. At the very top of fine dining here on the Eastern Shore.
Fantastic, as always. Superb service and food. We're so fortunate to have this gem on the Eastern Shore.
An amazing experience - everything was simply wonderful.
We were looking for a spot to celebrate an anniversary with fine dining. Food was excellent, I had duck and my wife the lamb. Portions are very small comparable to restaurants in large cities somewhat out of place here in the more casual Eastern Shore. Portion size undermined its overall value. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Three course dinner with champagne and wine was $160 per person.
It's just a fantastic venue in DT Easton and the food is outstanding. Also, has the best staff on the shore. Be prepared to pay close to $100/person with cocktails.
Superb in every way--service (!!!), food and drink (wine list is especially impressive).
Just as wonderful a second time. Husband had the red drum. I had duck. All courses were creative and yummy. Astonishing wine list - whomever is selecting knows their wine. Great professional service. Have no idea who bankrolled this place and the salad place next door but so happy they did. NYC fine dining in Easton. Happy Day!
Truly amazing down to every detail. Defines fine dining with 100% class.
The overall experience was impeccable. The oyster stew was the best we've ever eaten and coming from New England we've had our fair share. Two minor critiques. The aperitif Lillet was ample, but next time with a twist of orange and not a whole fruit slice, it's not an Old Fashioned. Also, the meal could be served hotter, it was a bit tepid, but incredibly delicious. No complaints, just some tweaking, we absolutely loved it and will definitely return. Nice to have something so well done in all areas from the room aesthetics through the meal.
Fabulous wine list, expert sommelier assistance. Our champagne and Vosne Romanee were both memorable. The Burgundy wine glass alone was worth the vist. Wine service impeccable.
Bone to pick: "Rack of Lamb" is false advertising. Two of the tiniest lamb chops I've ever seen arrived, more like an appetizer. No salad options. Dessert and the wine were stars of the show.
Bas Rouge has earned "my favorite restaurant " status from my husband and me. If you haven't gone, do so!! Prepare to experience fine dining done right. Kudos to Chef Harley Peet for his Austrian inspired cuisine. We chose the three course prix fixe dinner which was more than enough to eat, especially when adding a couple of special amuse bouche treats, including caviar on a buttermilk blini. We are so pleased this special restaurant has come to town! Go ahead-treat yourself. You deserve it!
Excellent food & service as always
Service is haughty. Wine list disgustingly expensive. Halibut was dry. Phooey.
Fantastic! We have been vacationing around Easton for years and finally bought a house. We thought we knew the restaurants around the entire area but somehow missed Bas Rouge. So happy we discovered it. The food is fabulous (and we are coming from NYC so we are food snobs). Every dish was expertly prepared, creative, yummy. The entire room is beautifully done. The service is excellent - super professional but not annoying. We loved all of it. Certainly the best restaurant anyone on the Eastern Shore and I would say one of the best restaurants well beyond the shore.
Excellent! Perfectly decorated with perfect service and food - a true gem of a restaurant.
Bas Rouge has quickly become our favorite go-to restaurant in Easton. It's not inexpensive, but the menu is always interesting, the food delicious, the wine list without comparison, and the service friendly, efficient, but unintrusive.
Ok, it's pricy. But the wine we ordered was available locally for $50 and they changed $84...not a bad restaurant makeup.
Service, ambiance, food quality...the best NYC has to offer.
We'll go back again and again.
What a gift to Easton dining!!!
Excellent restaurant! We are fortunately to have such a beautiful place here in Easton serving delicious gourmet menu's. Highly recommend!
There aren't enough adjectives to fully describe Bas Rouse. It has an elegant European decor tastefully done. The food selections and preparation are fresh flavorful and mouth watering! The service is empecable. It scores on all areas. You will never be disappointed for lunch or dinner.
The restaurant is small but lovely. We had a wonderful lunch. The food was delicious! I highly recommend it!!
This is a hidden gem... beautiful and lucsious. The quality of the food is outstanding. The preparation is much simpler than what I'm used to eating dining out but the star is the protein which was not overshadowed by ingredients. I know it is always hard to balance the salt level...some things were perfectly seasoned other things needed salt.
Fantastic, wish I could give it 10 stars. Superb service, fantastic menu, and extensive wine list. Definitely a treat.
Incredible meal and wine, selected from an amazing wine list. Service was impeccable. Expensive but worth it.
The room is very pleasant. The food was very good. The service was pretentious. The menu pricing unclear to customer and server alike. I would not go back.
Amazing ! The best lunch experience of eating a full meal and dessert and leaving not feeling like I need a nap! Beautiful all around! Presentation and decoy!
Our experience was in a word, disappointing. We had known the chef from prior establishments and had been looking forward to a unique experience in a town which can use a great restaurant. Unfortunately, this restaurant has quite a ways to go before it reaches the stature which I'm sure it is seeking. The food was not hot and in fact the vegetable portions of the main courses were cold. One of our diners had veal which was so tough, it was difficult to cut with the knife that was provided. I was particularly disappointed in the sweetbreads appetizer which although uniquely prepared, were overcooked. The deserts although good, were pretty ordinary. Last but not least, the pricing (which I had been warned about) was very high given the quality of the food preparation. We deliberately made reservations early with the hope that our meal would have the full attention of the chef but unfortunately our strategy did not achieve the desired result. The ambiance of the restaurant is exceptional but unless and until the food service improves dramatically, I question this restaurant's ability to succeed.
We dined there for lunch this week and it was an exquisite dining experience. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. Whatever you have to do, don't miss this restaurant.
The service was top notch and as it was my birthday, we received several extra treats from Rose Champagne to Madeleines for dessert.
We consider a salad a requirement for dinner. Everything is on a Prix fixe menu and a salad was not available. Nothing is ala carte.
The food was prepared well but the servings are small by most people's standards . I had Copper River Salmon that was cooked to perfection, but lacked seasoning. My husband had the crab cake that had very little filler but again the seasoning was lacking.
The peanut butter cake was great. I found the lemon tart needing something to cut the tartness of the lemon. We will go back, we always offer second chances. But the price makes it reserved for special occasions to us.
We were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary and wanted somewhere special for the evening. Read many reviews and knew it would be $$$$, but we were prepared, we thought. Ordered the 3 course fixed price meal of Beef Wellington, then asked for the wine menu. Holy Moly !!!!! California Cabs from $168 to $ 1,700. And I didn't recognize a single winery. Switching to the French list, saw $350 to $3,500. I did not take pictures of the wine menu, so my prices may not be exact, but you get the jest. Food and service were impeccable and well worth the money. They even brought us a 4th course at no charge. But the prices on the wine list spoiled the experience. Highly recommend this venue but will stick with cocktails or ice water.
Bas Rouge is the best restaurant within 200 miles of Easton, MD...an over-the-top dining experience.
Elegant decor, world class service , many good choices on the menu and not disappointed in choices made. A special treat in our small eastern shore town.
Wonderful restaurant...beautiful, great food and wine with elegant ambiance and excellent service!
The service was wonderful -- very attentive and knowledgeable. They did everything to bring the experience to the next level. The starters were very good but the entrees, while good were somewhat lacking of the flavors of all the ingredients.
