   Sophisticated flavors and presentation without being stuffy. One of my favorite Alexandria restaurants. I’ve never had anything here that wasn’t great and sometimes it’s amazing. Loved the roasted lamb and the strawberry basil desert.

   We celebrated a friend's birthday at Bastille last evening. We had the delicious shrimp beignets and the special of the day - halibut. Both were delicious. We enjoyed the wine selections and recommendations by the best server, Niemi.

   The food was excellent but the service only average. For a pricey restaurant, the tables are small and not balanced. Felt more like a casual place than a restaurant even though the food was upscale.

   Celebrated my 50th Birthday dinner at Bastille. Enjoyed the exceptional selection of modern French Cuisine. There wasn't a thing on that menu that i wouldn't have tried. This is going to be our new go to French restaurant.

    We have dined here many times from when it was a small restaurant on North Royal to the new location. Up until now, the food has always been good if not memorable. This time? A disaster. Bouillabaisse with lobster? Two pieces of lobster, two shrimp, a number of shellfish. The sauce contained little to no hints of olive oil, tomatoes, garlic, parsley, saffron, fennel, thyme, bay leaf, and orange peel. To be fair, I realize this is the more or less authentic recipe but other than onion and maybe tomato, I couldn't detect a trace of any of the other ingredients. Oh, the escargot? Snails on a bed of a rather bland liquid. No hint of butter, no hint of garlic, just snails and mushrooms. I ordered a glass of wine to be served with the main course. Out came the main course sans wine. Our server stopped to ask if I'd like another glass of wine. After finally persuading her that I had never received the first glass, she graciously brought me the wine gratis. Two minutes after I had finished the main course, a second server came with a glass of wine that was "Here's the wine you ordered". A touch late for the main course and not suitable for dessert. In all the times we have gone to Bastille, the food has always been good, the service attentive but not disruptive to conversation. The time the server was the highlight of the meal.

    We wanted to go to Bastille to catch the last week of the winter menu so we could have Cassoulet. We really like this dish, and it won't be available after this week. It was very good as we've come to expect.

    Great food, ambience, and service. I love Bastille. It’s consistently delicious and the staff is amazing. My mom and I enjoyed an early bday celebration and enjoy the fixed brunch. We just returned from Paris and we were delighted to continue our French dining experience back home.

    We have gotten take out a couple times, but this is actually our first time eating in. We had an excellent brunch! Highly recommend their version of eggs Benedict. Service was good, and the food came up quickly. The dining room is a little bit noisy. We caught the tail end of lunch and it wasn’t particularly full, so I can only imagine what it’s like with a full restaurant. But we will definitely be back.

    We chose off the $59 fixed price menu. The choices were varied and all looked enticing. My husband chose bouillabaisse and I had scallops. Both were great tasting portions. My husband enjoyed a Negroni and I had a perfectly chilled Sancerre. Service was perfect not at all intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Bastille!!!!

    I feel like everything was just sort of...okay? Nothing was terrible but there wasn't anything exceptional about the experience either. If you're looking for a quick bite of French food, and want to be in-and-out in under 45 minutes, this is a good bet. On the other hand, if you want more of an intimate, romantic, cozy experience, look elsewhere.

    Perfect evening from start to finish. Sat in the Cafe and had excellent service from Jacob. Perfectly crafted cocktails and wine selections. Attentive service, food was outstanding. Bastille never disappoints.

    Amazing food and customer service. Prixe Fixe menu has amazing options, all of which look phenomenal. French onion soup, scallops, and apple cider cheese cake were phenomenal along with the wine pairing. I didn't remember to take pictures until the dessert course.

    I was celebrating my bday with family and friends. Our waitress was very attentive, her service was excellent. Wine price by the glass, expensive. The food was salty, mostly fries and my scallop dish. My fault was not to request or warn to our waitress: do not add salt to my or some dishes. I appreciate the greeting card with 15% off but it should be valid up to 60 or 90 days.

    Wonderful service. The food was wonderful as usual. My friends had the steak frites and I ordered the scallops with risotto. We started with the Salade D’hiver and the pears were incredible! My favorite salad.

    Food was very tasty, but the service was not very good. Our waiter was nice, but seemed to be split between different parts of the restaurant and when we would ask him or one of the bussers for something they kept forgetting, and I kiterally had to get up and get things myself. Some of the staff didn't seem to know basics, like what you bring out with coffee...by the time I got sugar for my espresso, it was cold. Basics are important and can make or break an evening out. I left frustrated that I had spent so much on our dinner and so many basics had been overlooked.

    Went for Valentines dinner and their menu was amazing. My wife has celiac and every entree was gluten free. My wife had the truffle risotto which was amazing while I had the filet mignon. Just exceptionally done by the chef. Service was on point all night. Go if you can, it's a semi-hidden gem

    Valentine's at Bastille was a great experience. We ordered from the prix fixe menu and my partner did the wine pairings. We had a reservation for 5:30 and were seated immediately. The waitstaff worked together as a well-oiled machine. Our appetizers were very good and the perfect size for an introduction to the meal. My partner ordered the duck for the main course and I ordered the filet mignon. The duck was perfect. Juicy with a crisp skin. The steak had a sweet sauce on top that paired well. The star of the dinner was dessert. I had the deconstructed cheesecake and my partner had the chocolate and raspberry dessert. Once again, the size was perfect. There was just enough for each of us to try the others, but it was definitely a dessert portion for one person. My partner was really happy with the wine pairings and the specialty cocktail I ordered was perfect. We will certainly be back.

    Excellent mussels frites, onion soup and wines! We chose the bar bc I preferred the ambiance and decor. 4 stars because both dining rooms lacked ambiance, intimate settings and felt sterile. I’m not a fan of booths and chairs are stiff. Excellent food. Weekly Date night with my husband.
