Bâton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar - de la Montagne
Whether you have a concert, catching a Habs game at the Bell Centre, or are just downtown, dine at Bâton Rouge and try our signature ribs and our tender beef steaks, located on De La Montagne.
Terrible experience pre-event in Montreal. Left before food orders were complete. Three servers - each not knowing what the other was doing yet claiming to work as a team. 20 minutes waiting for a soft drink and a wine to arrive- it did not. Rude servers - each handing off to another without doing anything. Was not even busy at 4:45pm. Left and no one even cared to ask why. BATON RUDE.
Another great experience at Baton Rouge.
Cheveux retrouvé dans la sal
It was a subpar meal. I have loved all my previous experiences at their West Island location. It was my first time at their downtown one. It was a Saturday evening after an event at the bell center. We arrived at 945pm. The restaurant was nearly empty, 2 tables of about 6 guests, and a few couples. Most of the staff was sitting and chatting in a booth at the end of the restaurant near the kitchen. They seemed annoyed when we arrived.
It was my hope to extend my evening with my mom following the bell center show for her birthday. She ordered a French onion soup and fries, and I ordered a prime rib (which is always my go to cut at their other location). My mom had commented that the fact that mozzarella cheese was being used would make the cheese clump up rather than the expected result, but the waiter reassured her that it was well appreciated by other patrons.
The meal arrived fairly quick. The presentation was poor. My steak was very fatty and was a deep shade of brown. My moms soup was overly salty and the cheese had indeed clumped up into a gelatinous blob. The fries seemed to have been left out and reheated for us.
My steak at least tasted decent.
20 min after receiving our meals the waiter comes to check on us, my mom gave him an honest review of her order, gave a heartfelt sorry, but nothing came of it. I was surprised it took so long for him to come back, especially since so few patrons were there.
I guess i have been spoiled at their DDO location for years,I have come to expect more based on this from the chain. I have come to realize that their standards for quality, presentation and service are location specific rather than part of the chain philosophy. With so many wonderful other restaurants to try out in downtown Montreal, I will skip it next time around or go to their superior version in DDO.
I dined with colleagues. The Santa Fe chicken I ordered was nicely presented and was tasty. However, this restaurant needs a renovation. There are multiple bench seats where the leather is torn.
Everything was perfect, will be going back for sure!
Cote levée trop cuite
Baton Rouge call me at 4pm for my 6pm reservation to say that they do not accept reservations from Open Table any more . Please let me know if this is true .
This left me in a panic to make another reservation at extreme short notice .
The calamari appetizer hat we shared was perfectly cooked. No grease, and perfectly toothsome.
Our meal (Mine a steak salad and hers I don't recall) was eaten over our respective keyboards at work because lunch wasn't served within the hour allocated to such non-work things.
It kind of set the whole weekend off from an awkward footing so while most individual components were rated quite well the overall rating can only be "Fair".
Go if you have all the time in the world.
Average food for the price. Setvice was good and nice location.
The quality of your product has decreased dramatically.
Genevieve was excellent and wish her the best with her baby on the way.
The place is really nice, food is what you expect. There are special lunch menus and options for all. The only aspect to improve is the speed of service. If you don't have at least 1 hour and a half, maybe you need to pick another place.
Be careful going here before something at Bell Centre. Menu I scaled down to few items and food has the quality of ore made. Highly disappointing
Arriving to a nearly empty restaurant on a Saturday evening was our first warning that our experience here may not be as great as we were expecting. We were seated outside where a few others were dining. Restaurant was nice and clean, staff were friendly. We ordered the white sangria to drink which wasn’t undesirable, however, I’ve had much better tasting sangria for a similar price. Our calamari appetizer tasted fairly good. I ordered the seafood linguine for my main and was unfortunately unable to eat more than a few bites. The shrimp and scallops were over cooked to the point that there was essentially no taste remaining to them and most remained on my plate at the end of my meal. The linguine was adequate, however, much too heavy to finish more than a third of the pasta. My partner had the Sante Fe chicken. His chicken wasn’t tasteless but was also over cooked. His side of rice was dry and appeared as if it had been siting out for quite some time. The highlight was the cinnamon apple slices on his dish which we both shared before taking off to find a more tasteful desert at a different location.
Overall our meals were quite tasty, but unfortunately our steaks were not done properly (either over cooked or under cooked).
We sat in the lounge and the service was fantastic and friendly.
Service was outstanding! Drinks were yummy and the food delicious. Very noisy but it was a busy day!
Good, server was excellent
The other guest's food seemed decent but my burger was horrible, very dry and tasteless.
The food was delicious and our waitress was lovely.
Ribs were SUPER dry . Overall bad food, tasted reheated and not fresh.
I don’t think it’s worth going during an event night. They had such a limited menu that don’t include vegetarian dishes. Also they jack up the prices of the items that are on the regular menu. Not worth it.
Good job!
At best the service we received was less than average. Not enough attention to detail, extremely slow to pay for our bill,
Tout était parfait
items (burgers in this case) for the kids were the same size as the "normal" one, which is ridiculous, it's the kids menu...
Burger was over well-done... Meat was burnt and dry. Ribs were dry also.
I've never had such terrible service before, took forever to get our drinks, then our salades we waited forever, we asked for water three times and never received it. Our food took forever, we had to always wave the waiter down. when our main meals were delivered they didn't take way the empty dishes and we were stuck with a full table.
I believe the price we paid of 175.00 was not worth it I wouldn't even pay 50.00 for the service we received.
We err bit told that there is a very condensed menu when there is an event at the Bell Center. The menu went from several pages to one page with very few options - we should have been notified at the time of the reservation.
The restaurant was quite empty due to a hockey game night across the street so I can't blame the below average experience to the restaurant n being busy and hectic.
Given the lack of customers, the service was not very attentive, 3 of 4 drinks were delivered together, the fourth one 10 minutes later.
The appetizer came with onion rings which were clumped together and absolutely cold. The toasted bread that came with the salmon tartar was cold and tasted stale so that it didn't make for an enjoyable accompaniment to the tartar.
The ribs (their signature dish) were tender but without much flavor and no sauce or gravy to add any flavor. No bread was offered or served.
The server really tried to get everyone to order more drinks and then dessert which I found a bit too pushy.
I personally would not go back given the many alternatives for ribs in the city.
Found prices a little high. Had to ask to have wter refilled, although waiter asked 2 times if i would like another beer.
Our party of 4 very much enjoyed the food, atmosphere and experience of dining at Bâton Rouge. Although I normally dine at "value restaurants", it was nice to spend a little more on a nice meal with my daughter and friends. We will definitely return when visiting Montréal.
On n’y retourne jamais
Our Waiter was awesome. Very friendly and attentive. The food was great, and the restaurant itself was nice and quiet (where we were sitting). Have been to this restaurant a few times when in Montreal, and always go back.
The food was good unfortunately it was cold and the ribs were dried.
Overall for the quality there is better option close to this location.
