   I would have given 5 stars for good and service, but rhubarb trifle dessert was terrible, my wife tried a spoonful and it was tart, watery and English cream was clotted.. Peach cobbler also tart and cobbler topping very hard We expressed our dislike to waitress who agreed that rhubarb trifle didn't look good. It was missing one spoonful and we were charged for it. The test of the food was absolutely wonderful,the view spectacular. We will definitely be back as we live in region

   The service was spectacular. Our view was amazing as we had a window seat. We ordered the truffle fries as an appetizer and while they were good, way over priced for the portion size. We also had the shrimp tempura and the Beacon burger. The burger was slightly dry. It looked huge however, it was mostly lettuce.

   We had a really nice lunch with a gorgeous view of Lake Ontario. When our waitress first came to our table we were busy talking so we asked for a bit more time. Then I thought maybe she forgot about us. Practically every window table was full so it was a bit busy. The lunch menu is not very extensive but we were able to find things we liked. It would have been nice to have more than one soup option (French onion) but there were a couple salads to choose from so my friend had the kale salad without bacon and they were accommodating. She said it was delicious. We started with the cauliflower bites and they were very tasty too. I had the haddock with a house salad instead of fries and it was very good. Overall it was a very nice lunch and I would highly recommend this restaurant.

   We started coming here a couple years ago when we realized that the food quality had improved considerably. Because it has great views looking out over lake ontario and was never too crowded -- others had not yet figured out that the quality had gotten better -- we felt that this was a great secret spot known. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed by the quality and presentation of our dinner last night. The prime rib was grey (instead of medium rare) and the burger was pink inside and tasteless (instead of cooked through). Staff did try to make it right -- returned with very rare prime rib. Sad to report that we would not want to take another chance having dinner here again. We would likely come for weekend brunch still as well as drinks on the patio.

   Very attractive premises. Servers were attentive and cheerful. We both had the prime rib, cooked to our individual expectations. There was a Yorkshire, mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, all very tasty. Wine prices were very reasonable for this area, lower than most others in our community. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience. We definitely will return.

   I have been many times - but this time was a disaster. Service was great but it was the food that was so disappointing! We had fish and chips and chicken parmesan. The was over battered and burnt, the fries were limo and cold the coleslaw runny. The chicken parm was deep fried? Who does this? It was burn dark brown, dry and tasteless. Hoping this was just a really bad day in the kitchen.

    You can't get better value than at the Beacon restaurant. The menu is varied and upbeat, the food outstanding, the service always very pleasant and personable, and the ambiance always bright, calm, and invigorating. But the highlight is the best view of Lake Ontario this side of Hamilton. Outstanding!

    We visited the Beacon for dinner during the week January, hence not very busy. The staff were friendly and very attentive and accomodating to us. Had the braised ribs which were very tender not overly saucy, and the salmon that was cooked perfectly too! Limited selection of appetizers at the Beacon, a couple more items to select from would have been great. Good experience and recommend this restaurant!

    The view is great but the food was not good. Burger and Fries and steak on a bun and fries. Fries hard and cold on both plates, steak mushy and too much sauce so fell apart trying to eat it, burger so so. For the price of 23$ each plates, totally not worth it.

    Very nice experience have been there a few times, our server was awesome food was great but the Yorkshire pudding was very dry to us and there should have been a little ojus with it on side. I will go back again in the summer.:-)

    It was a very tasty dinner although my son ordered his steak med rare and it was more like blue rare, they did correct it and brought him a perfectly cooked steak but it took quite a while for the waitress to come check on our food so that is the reason for the 4 stars. We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Sunday night. The rest of our dinners were great . We would go again if we were in the area

    Met some friends for dinner and all of our meals were top notch. The salmon succotash was excellent! Highly recommend this venue. The location and view are perfect and you can carry on a conversation without having to talk over the other patrons.

    We've been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. The food has always been great; the view from the floor to ceiling windows, from end to end of the restaurant, is incredible! Highly recommend this restaurant!

    On a Monday night we ordered prime rib dinner. Always a good pick except that night. Meat was tough, maybe reheated and waitress was advised. She offered us a replacement but we didnt want to do that. However, complimentary tea/coffee wud have been nice. I sent a note to restaurant thru their website to let them know. No response. No apologies. I know they can do better. We have experienced that. Perhaps going on a quiet night is not good. Hard to keep things fresh. Maybe. It would be nice to hear from them.

    The meal I ate was delicious. The beer I had with the meal was stale but thankfully the drink was replaced free of charge. My wife's steak was satisfactory at best. The service was great though.

    The service was great. The food was not. The prime rib was not rare, smothered in gravy, too much food on the plate etc etc. very disappointing. The Beacon has one of the best locations and continues to be less than mediocre.

    Had a lovely lunch overlooking the lake on a beautiful day. Enjoyed the lobster grilled cheese- lots of lobster and the fish tacos. Waitress was friendly and attentive.

    All items were excellent. The roast beef was tasty, done to perfection and included Yorkshire pudding. Salmon was tasty as well as ceasar salads. Of course the view is superb as large windows over look the lake. No sunset as it continued to rain.

    Excellent experience- we will be back! Only complaint would be the slight musty odour when entering establishment. We know the building is older and is close to the water and has experienced flooding in the past Not sure how this smell could be resolved ? We LOVE the spectacular view! Food was excellent!     This was to be a special 60th birthday celebration. Reservations were made for 8:00pm in advance We waited approximately 10 minutes to be seated. There wasn't a table set up. My guests and I pulled the tables and chairs together. We sat outside the server did not offer to wipe condensation off the table. We wiped the condensation up with Kleenex. I brought my concern up the manager. Ivy was apologetic and offered to buy us around of drinks. Service ended up getting worse. 6 prime ribs dinners were ordered. When the dinners were served we discovered we didn't have steak knives. Each of us ended up cutting our steak with a butter knife until the server came back out. We asked for steak knives and salt and pepper. Still no salt and pepper. We mentioned we would like salt and pepper again and it took over 10 minutes to get some. There were 6 adults at this table four of the adults frequent the Beacon often also spoke highly about their experiences. Two of the guests had never been there before and were very much looking forward to a special night out. Please note there were two servers/ hostess it isn't just one server's misdeeds. I have given you my feedback and I look forward to receiving your feedback regarding our experience. Thankbyou

    I have to admit that I was a little concerned that it would be 'just a hotel restaurant' and nothing more. The outside of the restaurant seems rather dated and doesn't present well. However the view of the lake is beautiful, staff was very good, and the food was delicious and portions, generous. If anything, the overall appearance was hiding a very nice surprise. Although I thought the wine list was as little thin for a restaurant plunked in the middle of Ontario wine country, the wine prices were reasonable, for a change. I wouldn't hesitate to stop there again.
