The food and service were perfect! Ben our server was excellent! Thank you
Wonderfully located on the north side of the river, this restaurant is conveniently located for a meal in the city after work. The ambiance is perfect, not too stuffy, but modern and well appointed. The service is terrific, in addition to greeting everyone at the door, the server, bus, and management (Billy and Pat) were very also attentive and seemed to know most patrons. The ones they did not know, were welcomed as if they were old friends. Honestly, this is one of my favorites. If you are looking for a vibrant (and louder) bar scene, stay in the front. The back is quieter and perfect for conversation. It is two places in one! If you are looking for great food, excellent service, and in a great location This is a winner, every time.
Girlfriend and I ended up having an argument. Not at all the restaurant's fault and service was very accommodating. I don't believe other guests were disturbed. If so, I apologize. Thanks, Beacon Tavern, we will be back soon hopefully sans arguing.
I came to Beacon with a group of friends whom I hadn't seen for awhile. We all loved the food, the ambiance, and the service, which made our get-together even more special.
Lovely restaurant tucked between the Wrigley Building & Trump Tower right on the river. Food was great and service very attentive. A bit pricey but I would definitely go back.
Great time. But several entres were cold upon arrival.
They treat you like you matter, here. Refreshing these days.
The somewhat hidden location makes this my current top choice for fine dining in Chicago. I'm sure the owners would love to have lines running out the door and, indeed, its quality certainly merits such popularity. But, until that day arrives, I will enjoy the relative peacefulness and ease of getting into this gem of a restaurant at the owners' expense.
The imaginative menu and quality of ingredients are a credit to the chef. Boutique wines, available by the glass (at reasonable prices), multiply the charm and originality of the Beacon Tavern. The cocktails are out of this world.
The front of the house is attentive and knowledgeable without being obsequious.
Don't let the fact that it lies in the shadow of the "He Who Must Not Be Named" Hotel and Tower keep you from enjoying this fantastic place by the river.
The food was amazing and unique and the service was WONDERFUL!!!
Excellent burgers and great location. A little tough to find as its tucked behind a couple of large residential buildings.
Good food and drinks for brunch.
They gave us two free glasses of champagne for our Anniversary
Restaurant host and wait staff were awesome. The location was beautiful and the fish and chips were delicious.
Beacon Tavern is tucked away on the little stretch of river walk in the shadow of the odious Trump Tower. We were relieved that you couldn’t see the name from the restaurant, and could almost forget that it was there. Excellent food and service with a cozy ambience. Highly recommend!
Had a great meal with friends before archtectural river cruise @ night.
Read the reviews. Expected much better food this fish was best food served. Our server was nice, but did not volunteer daily specials and again, not interested in addressing our unappetizing sea bass. Overheard a female server welcome a table & she was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu. She provided those patrons with a great experience!
Creative ingredients, great gluten free options and perfect portion sizes
Near perfect, as it should be. Lobster fritters are the best on the menu.
Decent food, pretty expensive for brunch. Noisy music, but they were great about turning it down. Very good service
Waiter recommended the Dover Sole for two and it was awesome!!
Good food and the staff was very attentive. I find this place is good for business meeting and lunch engagements.
Great location and ambience! Start with the cheddar biscuits and oysters...excellent...the Scottish salmon was sushi grade, the pork chop was huge.
What a great find! It was so hard to choose from the fabulous menu, but we loved everything we ordered!
We came for breakfast the morning after my daughter’s wedding. The staff was wonderful and very welcoming. We had three tables and it all went seemlessly. Great value, lovely, delicious breakfast, excellent fresh coffee, elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely return.
Been to Beacon Tavern many times. We have never been disappointed. Love to take people visiting Chicago there. Great menu, quite ambiance and wonderful staff.
Thank you Ben, Luke and Will
Always a great experience at Beacon Tavern
I had been to this restaurant a couple of times last year and loved it. This time was a complete disappointment.
This was our first time at Beacon Tavern and we really enjoyed the experience. The dining room is very pleasant, and we were seated in a quiet area. A nice contrast from the noise outside. Our server was great; friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food was delicious, starting with the relish tray. We had the pork chop and the short rib entrees - both were excellent. And we finished with some cookies to go. A perfect night out for dinner!
Absolutely excellent dining experience every time!
Delicious food and drinks, great ambiance, excellent service!
My favorite restaurant, great for a date night or any other special occasions. Love the ambiance of this place! And the service is superb.
Great knowledgeable staff terrific food creative drinks
Delicious vegetarian options with a cozy atmosphere.
Had a relaxing fun lunch with girlfriends. Service was great and the atmosphere relaxed
Had a great cocktail suggestion by the waiter and great seafood suggestions! So close to a Riverwalk so we went for a walk after
Delicious food with attentive waiter. Service was fast enough without rushing you. Our waiter handled our large group of 9 with ease, no mistakes. Menu was delightful with thoughtful dishes. I had the Heritage Tomato with Crab and Vinaigrette dressing. Delicious!
We’ve been here before on our Chicago visits. It’s highly conveniently close to the Trump Chicago hotel. Especially if you don’t want to pay those highly inflated hotel prices!! The service can be hit or miss, as is the food. This visit was good. And, it was not terribly busy. The main back rooms area seemed they were more so (i.e. louder crowds). Anyway we had requested the high top table in a quieter section of the bar area. Way far from the main door entrance. We had an order of the cheddar bay biscuits. Tasty. The $17.00 spicy Uncle Eric’s aioli burgers a good option. They only have the happy hour reduced priced menu Mon. - Fri. until 6 pm. We were here on a Saturday night. In the better Chicago summer or early fall weather, they have an outdoor patio dining that fills up quickly. If they have enough servers to accommodate you.
A very nice room. Attentive service. Dover sole was delicious. Pork chop and salmon not outstanding. I would like to see an expanded menu
very nice atmosphere, loved the single candle, attentive service, everyone loved the food. it was a first time for all and everyone said they would come again 111
Our server was attentive but a little pushy with ordering. He did pour the wrong white wine over another white wine and did not change out the glass. All else very good
Excellent service, very attentive without being intrusive. Large portions so go easy on the starters. Lovely ambience in an upmarket pub setting. Would go again.
The location was good near many hotels. I had an appetizer and a salad and that was enough but the entree options are somewhat limited and pretty expensive. What I had was excellent, a roasted carrot salad and the mussels. I would come back here if in the area.
