From the stunning stone Cellar Door, to the rustic yet elegant Book Barn housing our restaurant and bookshop, we invite you to experience the beauty and first-class hospitality of Bendooley Estate.
Always a great experience. Love the dining and books.
Excellent food, service and ambience in a beautiful setting.
Pleasant lunch, linguine was tasty, just a little bit too al dente for me. Very disappointed in the pea and bean salad as it was tiny and covered in leaves and radish slices not mentioned in the menu. Nice atmosphere and staff very pleasant.
Service seemed to suffer on busy Sunday we were there. More staff needed perhaps?
We had lunch with friends & our children & we sat outside. This was my second visit & I can highly recommend this place even with children it was fantastic 😊
Amazing food, I had the steak and it was so tender. My husband and I plan on coming back for our wedding anniversary next year it is worth the drive.
From being greeted at the door to the lovely service from the waitress also she gave a recommendation on the lunch menu which we ordered the blue swimmer crab and chilli linguini which was awesome. We tried the bendooley sparkling which was very nice so yes I would recommend for anybody going through the area as a place to go and enjoy
We love coming to Bendooley Estate and this was our third or fourth visit in about fifteen months. As usual the food was wonderful but in our area there was a table of young women who were incredibly loud and needed, it seemed to address the entire area. Their lack of consideration for other guests was not even remotely considered and we could not hear each other talk. There is a separate room and this could have been used.
We mentioned it to the wait staff who just shrugged their shoulders as if to say you are justold people. Felt quite disappointed. We are entitled to be able to hear each other and for dessert we moved to the other end of the room.
Our waitress was outstanding, the food excellent and the book barn has so much character, its a lovely place to have a meal with friends!
Great venue, good food but crazy noise levels.
Inside is better if you want to escape the flies.
Have been numerous times to Bendooley Estate would always recommend it to friends and family but you must book as it is always booked out on a Sunday. Very vibrant atmosphere, friendly staff and great food and then of course you can prowl through the book barn. Will be coming back.
My second time at Bendooley
I was excited to take my hubby, brother and sister in law. They love it as much as I do.
The food is delicious.......bought fresh herbs from the gorgeous kids as we were leaving.
Amazing food and service in the ideal setting
I may If they was in the area but would Not travel the distance we did to
Visit
Great place to enjoy a lunch with good wine and teh best selection of second hand and new books we have come across for some time. Staff are attentive, friendly and willing to please. Will definitely be heading back!
I’ve eaten here a few times and am usually very happy, this time we were extremely disappointed. I booked several weeks ahead and arrived on time. The flies were really bad outside so we asked if we could move inside, were told no they’re double booked, we accepted that and tried to deal with the flies, at no time were we offered a table inside when someone left. We were travelling through so we were quite happy to eat and be out quickly. We were told when we ordered that it would be a 40min wait on pizza, which again we accepted. After 1.5 hours and not receiving our main meals we left. No apologies for the wait and several empty tables inside made it all the more disappointing, also someone that ordered after us received their pizza before us so by that stage we’d had enough. I don’t normally post bad reviews but feel the service we received was atrocious for a well established and expensive restaurant. They are always busy on a weekend and have been around long enough to know how to handle the volume of customers, it’ll be a long time before we come back again if at all which is sad because it’s usually so lovely.
Not your fault.....but the flies outside were atrocious and made us rush our lunch
Great ambience and range of seating areas. Delicious food and attentive service. Great books.
We live in Burradoo, and met up with old friends from Sydney last Friday. We had booked outside, however the wind sent us scurrying in, and your friendly staff found us a great alternative inside. Everything was just right (we both also found a book to buy, and the ambience is brilliant. Our friends repeatedly commented on our good choice of venues. Also loved the wine we chose - yours of course - and they consider themselves connoisseurs!
Thankyou all, once again you proved why you are my venue of choice in the Highlands!
Very impressed with all aspects of this restaurant. Not only was the food delicious and plentiful but the online booking process was easy and ambiance delightful. I really appreciated the quick and friendly service and particularly the way one of the staff noticed and quickly rectified the position of my friend's chair so that it was more comfortable. Relaxed, comfortable and very professional - I'll be back.
Good food and excellent service in a beautiful setting. The restaurant was very busy but the service was prompt and there was no sense of overcrowding.
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal of Moroccan Lamb, every item on the menu looked delicious and to choose what to have was difficult. Others at the table totally enjoyed their meal too. Then there was dessert OMG!!
Always love their service, food and ambience. The staff don't try to rush you out the door, you can enjoy your experience.
Amazing venue and food was delicious. We had great service and would highly recommend to everyone
We had lunch for a girlfriend's 40th bday and had a wonderful time. We were able to taste some wine before our lunch so we chose a bottle of wine we knew we'd like and would pair perfectly with our food. The food was delicious too.
Loved it!! Will be back for sure!!
So relaxing the staff were lovely very accomadating.
The service was very slow! It was a Tuesday so you would expect better.
The food was mediocre. I had salmon and it was over cooked and quite dry.
I just thought there was not enough attention to detail.
Had a really great meal here, everyone's main and dessert was delicious. We were booked to sit outside but due to super high winds we were struggling to keep everything on the table! Staff were very obliging in finding a table for us inside the cellar. Would visit again if in the area.
Beautiful serene vistas..... accompanied by a warm ambience and friendly staff. Can get really busy and service slows down a bit... other than can’t fault it . Menu is accomodating but needs few more additions .will be back again and again👍
Floor staff left such a poor first impression. Seating groups who walked in after us after acknowledging us left me feeling undervalued as a customer so I ended up leaving to dine elsewhere. It was such a disappointment as the venue itself is absolutely beautiful. For a place that's so highly regarded, I'd expect the staff to act like they care a little more.
Every aspect was exceptional. Seating outside, food, service ambience more than I had hoped for
I dine at Bendooley Estate regularly.. i like the wine tasting room .. the staff are friendly and attentive.. the food is great .. wine is great .. I always take visitors to the Southern Highlands here .
Lovely environment, a restaurant where you can hear conversations (rather than being drowned by the noise), and good table service
It was raining on the day we went, but that did not detract from the day! It was just lovely. There is an open fire, and of course the bookshop is amazing and the major drawcard.
We were inside near the front windows with all the doors closed so my only complaint is that it was very loud. Nearby tables were having a good time - they weren't raucous - it's just that the space means nearby noise is over-whelming.
One of our favourite places. Service not quite as good as on previous visits but that will not deter us from returning regularly.
Great food, great atmosphere very cosy location for a quite lunch. Wine from the winery on site is very good and well priced.
Great way to spend an afternoon. The estate is lovely. The staff were very friendly and food/wine was great. We were allocated our preferred seating outside and the whole experience was terrific.
15% surcharge for public holidays did seem a little steep but didn't ruin the experience.
Will definitely be back.
Would've loved a larger range to pick from the menu.
Also a couple items on the menu was a bit overpriced but over all loved the atmosphere.
Lovely venue. Eat inside or out. Very busy. Absolutely crucial to book well in advance.
We were booked for an outdoor table, but moved to the Cellar Door as the weather wasn’t great. Service felt rushed, it was really noisy and it wasn’t until we were leaving, we were told everybody needed to leave by 3pm as a wedding was on. I felt we should have been told that at the beginning, not the end. Food good as always,
