The Beautiful scenery was matched by the beautiful food!
Lovely venue, such a bonus to be able to browse the books before/after a meal. Service friendly, social distancing and sanitising protocols observed, all with a smile. Have been several times and will return. The food we had was light and tasty and the wine list is great.
Lovely ambiance in the cellar door.
Highly recommendable to family and friends. Will come back again
We went on a weekday, apart from slow service, all good.
Amazing pizza and good wine. The best spot for winter lunch
service staffs need training on what it means by "service"
if you are around the Bowral area then Bendooley estate is a must to see.
from the fabulous lunch to the wine tasting sensational .
Great food and atmosphere. Wonderful staff!! Beautiful place.
Disappointed - too crowded and busy... service slow and not friendly. Don’t go here if you want a boutique experience.
Fantastic place for a special occasion meal! It was incredibly busy but the staff were friendly and so helpful.
This place has everything! There is a vineyard, cellar door, cottages to stay in, an amazing book shop and a wonderful vibe in both the restaurant and the cafe. Bookings are a must as they are justifiably very popular.
We ate in the restaurant, which overlooks the vineyard, and had excellent pizzas and an amazing dessert described as "Tunisian citrus samosas with orange caramel & vanilla ice cream" - incredible!!
The wines here were excellent too and can be purchased at their cellar door. Staff were friendly and we are very keen to revisit in order to try more items on their extensive menu.
Wholeheartedly recommend | Absolutely loved my afternoon & lunch at Bendooley Estate. Food was delicious - the best chocolate mousse of my life! Wine selection was really good being a vineyard. Would recommend leaving some time before or after your table booking to browse the book shop and look at the grounds. I spent about 45 mins doing both of those, plus then time at lunch. It's a nice place to while away the afternoon - so peaceful and lovely ambience. Could not recommend it enough!
Lovely spot for a family lunch outside with room for kids to run around if seated outside.
As a regular local at Bendooley we always real enjoy the experience. The manager is an amazing person for service and attention. We were amazed y the number of guests on this first post heavy lockdown visit. But the quality in all respects was as good as always despite the pressure of full house. Looking forward to our next visit soon.
The dining area was large and chaotic - more like a diner than a cosy restaurant. The staff were doing their best to cope with the number of customers, and the food came quickly, but You felt like you had to fight for service and it was not a relaxing environment.
Nice lunch - however I wouldn’t rush to recommend over other venues in the region.
Service was a little slow and confused, food lacked the punch of flavour I was expecting and the lamb pizza we had was dripping in fat/oil.
It could be covid times stresses, but a sharpening of service standards and menu options would have this at the top of the venue lists in Southern Highlands for me.
While crowded on a Sunday. Service was good. Friendly atmosphere. We had a table near the fire ehich was lovely on a cold day. Food was excellent
Great choice to suit everyone and the food definitely matched our expectations. The Bendooley wine we chose exceeded our expectations. Our wine waiter was brilliant. Our food waiter not quite so but we didn't let it put a damper on our time there. All up, a great experience and we will definitely be back.
First time for us at Ben Dooley Estate. The staff were very friendly and we had fantastic service. The food was incredible. Loved sitting by the fire. Such a beautiful estate
Had a wonderful time, it was just beautiful and amazing
Great food and great place, really good night with friends and great to be back and able to go out again.
The food was sensational. Never been more satisfied and great wine as well.
Wonderful ambience and amazing food, the best steak I’ve ever had!. Lots of books to wander through, great wines and very helpful friendly staff.
Food was amazing again. Meat was cooked to perfection and mouth watering! We will be back!
Every experience at Bendooley is a good one. The food is always terrific, the ambiance of the location makes you feel special and the staff are always accommodating and polite.
We sat for 20 minutes before I could catch the eye of a waiter to order but from then on the service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. This was our second visit and we will visit again.
Overall good experience. Warm, friendly atmosphere. But somewhat noisy. Good quality food at good price
Beautiful surrounds, amazing food and a great selection of books - Bendooley’s/ Berkelouw’s Book Barn never disappoints.
Was very disappointed that we were seated in the tasting area, considering I had made the reservation some weeks ago. Also, I do not think any consideration was given to social distancing. There were far too many diners in the restaurant. The service was not up to what I would consider suitable. We had to ask for the table to be cleared, and then when we ordered coffee, some of our group had finished our coffee and we had to ask for the rest of the order. Bendooley has unfortunately gone from being my favourite restaurant in the Southern Highlands and I will not be rushing back.
A favourite of mine. Several visits to this lovely winery wasn’t disappointed yet again.
Food was delicious, as was the Bendooley Pinot Gris.
Service was very good considering how extremely run off their feet.
Certainly will be back.
This winery is in a beautiful setting, with plenty of parking and an additional full library, small shop, cellar door and restaurant. The main space housing all the books is striking with a glorious open fireplace. There seems to be some confusion over where the cellar door is located as there are two spaces which could house this. We were seated in the restaurant, which after having been into the other space which was bright with an amazing focal fire pit and stack was rather dark and gloomy. After our meal we requested doing some wine tasting at the cellar door, and it was explained it was in the other area (the one we had initially been into). Once we got there, we were met with a staff member who was not prepared to assist us or confirm if we could do a tasting there or not. He walked away from us. We were forced to ask another staff member who was not able to confirm this either but said they would find someone who could assist. Finally, we were informed by yet another staff member we could do wine tasting back in the restaurant we had just come from. This was disappointing given we had just been there, the space was uninviting so we decided against this, especially as it was going to cost us an additional $10 each to do the tasting, even though we had spent over $200 in their restaurant. Some of our meals were delicious but unfortunately not consistent. Apart from our main waiter, who was excellent, friendly, and very efficient we were met with too much indifference to visit again. @ladylongtail
Three of us went for lunch on our first outing since lockdown. The restaurant is lovely, food is really amazing. I had a burger and I honestly can say it's the best I have EVER had. The linguine seafood dish and the duck were outstanding. The shared plate at the beginning was generous too. If you want a lazy lunch in a lovely setting - this is the place for you. Service was slow but staff were really pleasant.
I would highly recommend Bendooley Estate. The food and the service was very good. When I booked I was asked online whether it was for a Special Occasion which it was. It was My Son’s 20th Birthday. I thought they would acknowledge the Birthday but they didn’t. It was probably because they were really busy. I also thought the Bookbarn was quite crowded considering COVID but the restaurant staff looked like they were all doing the right thing as far as cleaning... Will definitely return.
One room too smokey to sit and dine so relocated to bar area where air ventilation much improved.
Food alas was rather hit and miss.
Fettuccine crab dish was so overwhelmed with chilli that dish had to be returned. Request for minimal chilli for requested but when dish turned up was a smaller helping and still strong chilli, but by this time didn’t want to delay as group were well into their dishes.
For me it was a a very disappointing food experience.
My favourite winery in the southern highlands. We always stop by on the way back to Sydney. Bookings are essential. I always ask for the cellar door because I love the big fire pit in winter and to look out the windows over the vineyards. Food is always fabulous and the wine is wonderful.
The food was delicious and well presented. The variety of the menu was not so good for al-carte choices, this may be due to the COVID restrictions but there was a lot of Pizza and hamburger type choices.
Have been here several times and the food is outstanding, the ambience is exceptional and the service is perfect. A big favourite and we will be back again. And again. And again.
Lunch was delicious. The book barn was exceptionally busy and the staff seemed run ragged.
The timed restrictions I understand due to COVID but it seemed to put pressure on the staff.
I will definitely be back but once COVID restrictions are lifted so the lunch can be a little more relaxing and enjoyable.
We had a lovely lunch at Bendooley. The food and wine was incredible and very good value for money. One of our guests was Coeliac and she was looked after very well. The only negative thing would have been with the service - we had to keep asking for things such as a steak knife (with the two steak meals) and spoons (for dessert) - these things should have already been brought out so we didn't have to wait longer. Overall a fantastic experience - we will be back.
Great location, amazing venue and delicious food! 10/10 from me.
Will definitely be back!
