Alexander was very good in answering our questions and was very hospitable. The rest of the staff was very good as well. Our filet was cooked right, medium, and the sides were tasty. Save room for dessert the chocolate pudding cake is delicious. Will definitely come back next time we are in Chicago.

Another exquisite experience at Benny's Chop House. Upon entering we were warmly welcomed by the hostesses and they took our quotes on that windy Chicago evening. The drink and wine selections were great and every question we had was well answered by our server Kiersten. The food was a1!! All of our steaks were a perfect medium and the sides and appetizers were perfect as well. It was a special occasion so the guest of honor's name was printed atop the menu and he was given a free dessert as well. Kiersten was amazing all around and friendly even though she was busy. Benny's is always my top choice when in Chicago.

First time I was there. I had the bone in NY strip and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The staff was incredibly attentive and made good suggestions for wine and sides. I will definitely be back.

The weather was awful outside but soon forgotten when we walked in the door to Benny's Chop House. The decor is beautiful with classic steak house feel. They had live jazz in the bar that was a perfect back drop with my gin martini.

The food was spectacular! The filet was one of the best we have ever eaten and done to perfection. I was celebrating my birthday and when I opened my menu along the top read Happy Birthday Marla-nice touch!

Food, service, atmosphere, music all top notch.

The food was ok, but way overpriced for what I got. The specialty cocktail I got was missing one of its basic elements, and the glass of wine I ordered never came. The steak was delicious but I found the baked potato and brussell sprouts to be quite ordinary as was the wedge salad. The bacon almost tasted tasted like Bacos- they were too uniform in flavor and color and didn’t taste like bacon that had been fried on the premises. I was very disappointed in my experience.

Food, ambience, and service good...except... We had a 4pm reservation, and the unsmiling hostess refused to sit us in the dining room, insisting that we accept a table in the bar. The dining room opens at 4pm, and we have enjoyed many meals at Benny’s, at all times. The hostess did and does the restaurant a great disservice. No positivity. Seemed so uncaring. Too bad, as this is one of our favorites.

Food is excellent. Bone-in rib eye was grilled perfectly. Sides were very plentiful. My daughter and I shared salad, steak and sides. No way I could have eaten a full meal myself. In fact, we shared a meal and still had leftovers. The service was amazing. Never felt we had to wait on anything, but we didn’t feel rushed either. The creme brûlée was so delicious. The tables are very close together which was a bit annoying. Servers were walking so close by with food for other tables. The close proximity is something I think they should change. I was hoping to hear the jazz music that was advertised on the web site, but I had no idea that it was happening until we left. Musician was in the bar, but we couldn’t hear it from our seat. It also seems very casual. Men in tee shirts with baseball caps. The dress was more casual than I expected. The service and food though were excellent. It was a lovely evening.

We celebrated a belated Valentine's Day dinner at Benny's this past Saturday evening. I had been here before and was impressed then, however this was the first time bringing my now fiance. I can't express how classy the place still is, and how amazing all of the staff that we encountered was. The meal was first class and delicious beyond words. The hospitality of all, from the hostess to our departure was impeccable. Additionally, the live jazz created the perfect ambiance for a truly perfect evening... 5/5, 100%, A+. Benny's will forever be our dinner destination while visiting the city, after this experience! Thank you!

Benny’s was a cool place, wish I would’ve had more time to spend listening to the live music in the bar. We ate at Bavette’s Boef last year and that was hard to beat. But Benny’s is good. We also enjoyed small talk with one of the waiters, Rory was his name. I like when I come into a place like this and a gentleman like Rory gives me a moment and nice conversation. Keep up the great work Rory.

The steaks were cooked inconsistently including a medium rare porterhouse that was clearly medium well to well done. They mixed up my ribeye with my friends and after a few cuts we figured it out and swapped. We bought 2 bottles of wine that we mostly poured ourselves. The food tasted good except for the overcooked porterhouse. I expected a bit better for $ 1300 bucks.

We loved the ambience - especially the jazz duo! Leandro Lopez Varady & Julie Ponce are one of the best duos in the city. When we come back, I would order the oysters & the maple bacon with a martini - a heavenly meal!

This place must be well past its prime. Setting/decor is dated, ambiance was dull, and worst steaks were just average to not very good. Sides were meh and uninspired. Waiter was nice. Our steaks were undercooked too. No way is this a top steak house. Not even close.

Food and service was fabulous, as always. The room was rather loud -- we think caused by one person at an adjacent table (got quieter after that table left). We were celebrating and Benny's totally delivered on making our occasion even more special. Might consider a ride share next time (given how long it took to find the valet to get our vehicle after dinner)

The dinner was excellent. One of the best steaks I’ve had in my life. I would highly recommend Benny’s for a great dinner. However, I would suggest skipping the wine. The wine prices are outrageous even by steakhouse standards. Where many places you can expect to spend 3x or so for wine you’d purchase in a store, at Benny’s it was easily 10x or more. We had a $160 bottle of wine (one of the lower cost wines on the menu) and it would easily be a $15-17 bottle in a normal liquor store. So, you can end up spending a lot of money on relatively tasteless wines. Stick to the steaks, sides and mixed drinks or water and you’ll be happy.

Wife's birthday, and Benny's did not disappoint. We were presented with special menus that had "Happy Birthday" printed across the top. They even gave her a choice of dessert for her birthday - not just a standard slice of cake. It was one of their traditional desserts and they wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate sauce on the plate.
Wait staff was extremely helpful, and they even had a sommelier stop by to offer a suggestion from their HUGE wine menu (I think I counted at least 30 pages, with roughly 50 bottles listed per page). You looking for a certain vintage of a certain wine? Well, they probably have it.
Food was fantastic and almost became an afterthought after the experience we had.
