Bier Markt - King Street West (Toronto)
Would not recommend this place to anyone. I ordered the fish and chips and the fish was raw and the batter soggy. There were maybe 5 couples in the restaurant, no one was eating..maybe they knew something we didn't.
Food and service was as expected for a Friday. It was extremely noisy and not a good place to sit down and enjoy some time with friends. The music was way too loud to hear anyone talking.
So cold, heat was broken, didn’t tell us ahead of time. Didn’t even offer us a discount on food and drinks.
I had the pork snitzel with spaeztle. It was ok. I had a server named James he was very attentive with me and my guests
The opentable reservation put us right by the front door on a very cold evening. The front door was also very squeaky and loud when it shut. I would have thought that by using OpenTable, I would have received a better table seeing that I had reserved hours before.
Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was interesting and tasty.
Average and nothing special. Service was okay but not great and the food was imaginitive in spirit but over cooked
Me and my two friends went there recently for a catch up. Our server Owen was fantastic, always on top of things and incredibly friendly and helpful. We ended up getting a mix of things....the Brussel sprouts were fabulous as was the Cauliflower steak. I would actually go back again for that particular dish. I found that on top of Owen being as wonderful as he was, I can say that about everyone that works at Bier Market that we came into contact with. We would definitely go back.
Arrived 20 mins before my reservation time and the group I was meeting. Was promptly seated but was never approached to see if I would like a drink for another 20 mins. Service for food was ok but had to chase the server for the bill at the end of the meal when it was clear we were ready to leave. It was not overly busy. Will give it a pass next time.
Good atmosphere, food and staff. Will definitely attend again :)
This restaurant is inaccessible for those with physical challenges.
Patio was dead on a sunny Tuesday evening, only one server working and she was covering a section inside as well. Took forever for her to come by when we wanted another round (glasses empty for 15-20 min at least). After our second round she asked to close us out and gave us the bill (guess they were closing the patio due to it being a slow night... how was that our problem). We promptly paid and continued the date a few doors down on another patio. Wont be back.
Loves the flexibility of the menu and quality of food.
My rating is based on being on the patio, which was way better than inside which smelled like fish. I don’t know if there was too much going on but it took a while for my waitress to serve me. Perhaps another staff on the patio, especially on nice days like today. Wished the on tap bier list matched the one in restaurant. Beer was good but I really wanted a kolsch on a hot day like today!
Had a great time - every single staff member we interacted with was friendly. A special thanks to Jody for introducing me to the Malacca gin by Tanqueray...delicious!
Overall a great experience. It was a bit on the louder side. Felt that I was having to talk really loud to my friends who were seated across the table. Other than the that the food was amazing and so were the drinks!
I came in with my mom for the first time for dinner for my birthday and had the large pot of mussels with bacon and fries and it was delicious! The cocktails were also a great size and really tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will be back. The manager even checked in on us twice which was a nice touch.
The hamburger was the worst I have ever had anywhere. They were kind enough to remove it from the bill and did offer to bring me something else.
Horrible. The so-called fondue was a lump of soft cheese dumped in a heating bowl of very thin sauce. Somebody really needs to tell the kitchen staff just what fondue is! It's very disappointing, because I have enjoyed the fondue at Bier Markt on several previous occasions.
Restaurant was almost empty at 1:30p on a Tuesday. Staff were great, food was great.
I always get the muscles, which are delicious, but my fiancé and I decided to get the 9 shareables for $45. We got two cheeses and a cold cut meet which was okay, nothing special. The calamari wasn’t good. The Mac n cheese was okay but no flavour at all (needed salt and pepper). We had two different types of sausages that are very good and the mini slider was outstanding. While it’s great to try a bit of everything, most of it was mediocre.
We really enjoyed ourselves. We reserved a table near the band for a late dinner and stayed for the music and dancing. The live band was so-so but the dj made up for it in between sets. Our server was very attentive the entire night. The food and beer were both excellent.
3 of the 5 items on our charcuterie board (select cheeses and kimchi sausage) were alost inedible. The other two were quite tasty.
Oysters were nice.
Service was impeccable.
Great place with a great atmosphere. The drink selection was amazing and the food options were very cool and unique. Love the charcuterie boards!
Chicken was well overcooked on my salad and no salad dressing on the salad. Overall the meal was ok but just that. Sorry.
I borught 10 of my girlfriends here for my birthday for dinner and we had a blast! Food was great, a lot of options, and everyone enjoyed what they had! Their sharing plates are awesome, and our server was very attentive, did separate bills no issue, had great food suggestions and was very quick to refill our water and drinks.
I will be back for sure!!!
Standard experience; service was solid, but food was well below par...the selection of beer was fantastic, which is the main point.
We went for dinner early and the restaurant was empty. Asked for a table of 5 and was denied and got a sarcastic answer that they have lots of reservations.
Walked out and immediately booked a reservation for 5 on open table. We got seated immediately...
Nice patio with great service - she was busy but I never felt forgotten about whatsoever. Ordered two different kinds of mussels - both were great (Thai Curry and Provinciale). Cocktails were funny and interesting and love the many selections of beer ranging from ales to lagers to stouts, both main stream and lesser knowns.
the music was so loud we coul not speak with one another.
