BIERA - Ritchie Market
A delicious and trendy eatery in the Richie Market. It's a busy place and reservations are a must. Blind Enthusiasm brewery is on tap and coffee and tea by Tranacend really round out the beverage choices. The food is delicious and the staff are excellent at helping reccomend quantities to order as it's a "sharing style" of eating and you'll want at least a taste of it all! A bit expensive for some plates as the portions can be a bit smaller than you'd want them to be, but the flavors are amazing and will leave you wanting more!
Food was fantastic and nicely spaced out in it's arriving at the table. Staff were super accommodating to "saving" the patrons off the patio when a storm rolled in and had us seated comfortably inside to finish our feast. Overall a wonderful dining experience!
I dined there with my daughter and her husband, in from Wales. Everything was wonderful. Biera exceeded our expectations. Our compliments to Christine and her staff.
We were fortunate enough to spend some time on Biera's beautiful patio, and enjoy the diversity and creativity of their menu. An awesome night and we will be back.
The food was good and well presented. Setting and service were great. Just too expensive for the serving size. We had no trouble leaving room for ice cream across the street after dinner.
While the taste of everything and service was excellent, the prices were quite inflated for what you actually got (especially the short ribs) Could probably go somewhere else and get a similar meal for 2/3 the price.
Cheese bar is great!
Try Chateau de Bourgogne, 18 month Comte AOP with strawberry wine jelly and Sourdough Foccacia.
Fantastic food, beer, and service.
Unless you're wealthy, EAT BEFORE YOU DINE HERE. Flavors are exquisite but portions are so small it hurts. Had to go to a Burger King after dropping a hundred bucks at Biere.
Nice food, bit pricy but overall a good spot to dine and relax
Nice space but a tad on the noisy side. Beer list is small and lacking IPA and sour beers. Wine list is short and again lacking in big bold reds. Pours are stingy for what they charge. Food menu is also short but very eclectic with the emphasis on sharing. Portions are again on the stingy side. $20 for four large slices of bread is beyond the pale. That said the squid and the Korean ribs were standouts. We would not hurry back.
The food at Biera is so unique and flavourful. There were two of us and we had the sunflower seed risotto, the sourdough bread, the pork and chicken off the grill, and then the white chocolate pistachio pudding for dessert (nothing to drink but water). It was the perfect amount of food for two hungry people, and all of it was delicious. I can't even pick out the star of the show because all of it was so good. We wouldn't let them take the chicken plate away because it has the most amazing sauce on it so we used it to dip the occasional bit of pork, although the pork was certainly amazing on its own. I guess the most mind-blowing dish was the dessert. It had so many types of flavours in it and it was so incredibly smooth. I will definitely be going back to Biera.
The patio is great when it’s nice out, the restaurant is very noisy. Food is good but pricey, service outstanding. Overall, a nice experience if you aren’t looking for conversation.
Great dinner and great service. We had the sample doodle of beer which was really fun. Followed by the ceviche and short ribs. Both of which were really good. The ceviche has some nice spice.
We had a fantastic time there. Our server was so friendly and welcoming, and the food was better than we ever could have imagined. Will definitely be going back.
The food was creative, inventive, truly delicious. This is unique food. This is food for sharing rather than your own individual meal. The servers here are friendly and VERY knowledgeable about their dishes. The beer is delicious and all brewed in house.
Wonderful gourmet food. The Biera chef should be featured on Netflix - Chefs Table. Really.
Thanks for the outstanding culinary experience.
We will be back!
Delicious food and atmosphere.
portions designed to be shared.
We shared three small plates. All three were outstanding. The mead is a perfect summer drink: ginger and lemon, light and fresh. That's almost all you need to know. The table next to us recommended several dishes they were enjoying. So, there's a return visit needed!
The service was good, but the tables are too close for the staggered arrival of sharing plates. The entire experience felt rushed and crowded by the additional service staff delivering and retrieving plates. Plates were whisked away before they were fully done, as the next plate was already on deck.
This comment about pacing and spacing might not apply for a party of 4 or 6. That's where this restaurant seems to find its sweet spot. Sharing between four makes a bit more sense, because the sampling is smaller and more varied. So, this is a great restaurant for a night out with friends. But not quite as good for date night.
Our server didn't know how to deal with different preferences. She assumed that since my husband doesn't drink, I wouldn't need information about the beverage selections. Could have used a reminder that there's beer tasting option, for example.
Loved the whole experience, however I found it a little pricey
I definitely wood found the food and service outstanding
My friend and I planned to go to Biera after I read about your restaurant on Julie Van Rosendahl website “Dinner with Julie”. After a few simple google searches I read even more about this new and impressive restaurant. Biera delivered on all the rave reviews! We started with the sourdough and lardo appetizer and ordered the grilled squid and endive salad to share. We also sampled the craft beer with the sampledoodle and a yummy sweet ginger cider.
As simple prairie gals we loved every gourmet bite. It didn’t entirely matter we weren’t certain what we were ordering the taste was exceptional. The serving sizes left you satisfied but not overwhelmed. Definitely going back to eat again so we can try more menu items!
The restaurant decor is a mix of sparse but natural elements that make the restaurant feel both casual and warm. The noise level on a busy Saturday night was low and allowed for easy conversation.
My favourite part of our experience (after the food) was our server Jess. Jess was friendly and welcoming all while being professional and efficient. Jess is a local (she lives in the neighbourhood) was able to let us know about the curious and constantly lined up ice cream place Kind Ice Cream across the street. She helped us make difficult menu decisions and was just so sweet and friendly. Loved her!!!
My friend and I are looking forward to planning another Edmonton trip just to try more items on the Biera menu.
Amazing food and experience as always. They always make the experience memorable.
A great “new” type of experience. Fantastic sharing plates, incredible beers. We will definitely return and spread the word.
Food was very good. We will come again.
Amazing food! Get the risotto.
Outstanding food and great service. I wish the tables weren't so close together, the dining experience feels a little claustrophobic. It would help with noise levels too.
We were a group of 8 and had one of the 'common' tables, it worked out really well. All the dishes were shared and we loved the squash, chicken and special fish dishes the most. Service was excellent with just enough time between visits to check up on us. I was driving so had the tonic mix and it was very refreshing. Have already recommended to friends and you should go too!
I was in a group of 3. We had originally planned to have dinner in addition to tasting the varieties of beer. As for the beer I would rate them as good to excellent with a wide choice available. However, we found the dinner menu too "pricey" and decided to go elsewhere for dinner. A better selection of appetizers would be welcome.
Excellent all round. Could have done with a lower ambient noise level, but it’s a big room so that’s to be expected.
One of my favourite places to dine at in Edmonton.
Overpriced, small portions. I don't mind this, if the food is fantastic but of 6 dishes there was only one that blew me out of the water. We did not want to stay for dessert to be charged alot for something that was good but not amazing.
Great service, great food....only small issue was our reservation was pushed back 15 mins.
Always amazing food and atmosphere, service is outstanding
The meal we had at Biera was probably in my top three meals of all time. The mushroom dish blew my mind. I would go back and eat that over and over and over. The beer was great too! Biera gets a perfect score from me.
From our first connection with the server to our paying of the bill, everything was amazing! The only thing was that we couldn’t eat more! Everything that went by our table on the way to someone else looked so good! The staff were so tolerant of our asking them what everything was so we could note it down for the next time we’re there. The four dishes our group chose were beyond fabulous, I’ve never eaten food so carefully thought through and well done! Cannot wait to return!!
menu looked great but execution was off. not one dish was something either of us would order again other than maybe the duck.
I wish there were more stars! Biera exceeded my expectations and I was expecting it to be great. Booked my next reservation before I left!
Loved the laid back atmosphere and staff. The beer was all so good but my favourite was the Calmont ale. The food was outstanding and our server helped us determine the perfect number of tasting plates for our table. I highly recommend the potato pasta and the Grilled hen of the woods mushrooms. Will definitely be going back again!
My wife and I went out to Biera for our anniversary. We loved it! Great food, great beer great atmosphere. I would highly recommend going here
