BIERA - Ritchie Market
It was awesome! The food was delicious, loved how they prepared them. The banana pepper, and short rib dishes were so so good. Wasn’t too loud, even for such a busy place. And the staff was great!
First time at BIERA. We really enjoyed the food which was innovative and delicious. It was noisy at times making conversation difficult.
Great food, service, and beer. Couldn’t have asked for more, thank you!!!
Very small menu of very overpriced tiny plates. I guess the idea is to come for the beer not the food.
I recommend Biera any chance I get. We were here to have some lunch and try the new beer they had launched that day: "Substantially Complete". Having the option to pair it with their first release was a good move and it was interesting to see the difference in flavour profiles. The beef carpaccio created to pair with it was excellent. Steak tartare on toast and crab rolls rounded out our order, and after trying some of each, I really wish I could afford to go here for lunch every day. Their creativity and attention to detail are unparalleled in Edmonton. This is without a doubt one of my favourite restaurants.
Second time, and liked it even more than the first. Don't miss the menu items attached to the drink menu. The sourdough with melted cheese to dip in was fantastic.
Great lunch spot, interesting menu, really good
Limited menu, not a ton of proteins. Presentation was awesome, taste was pretty good.
We ordered so many things - four big plates, plus a couple small plates, and cheeses and sides and charcuterie, and drinks. Everything was delicious. A wonderful experience. One or two small server oversights but we came in at tail end of busy lunch so it's totally understandable, and each was remedied quickly with good humour. So great! Will definitely be back.
What a hidden little gem! We have lived in Edm for years and never knew these shops off the beaten path existed. Nice surprise!
The food was amazing! Service was very good once it got started....there seemed to be a number of servers at 4:30 but no one seemed to be on shift until 5. But once the service started, we were taken care of by 3 different servers who all seemed to cover for each other. Nice to see.
Definitely would go back!
Slight bit pricey, but....the treat is worth it.
Went for lunch! The menu had a decent selection of items and the winter salad was very good.
Outstanding food. Best meal I have had in a long time
I would recommend with reservation. When we made our online booking the info said that the table was available for 1hour and 45 minutes for two people. When we arrived at 5:45 (on time), the hostess told us that our table was booked for another party at 7pm. That cut us short by half an hour. Fortunately, service was brisk- a little too brisk - but your food - and prices- deserve more time to enjoy.
The bread was good, but lardo is way too much like lard, and the kefir butter sharp. I asked for Regular butter, was told it wasn’t available, but could have olive oil. That was fine. The ricotta dumplings were very good, and the grilled Acme chicken with Taiwan cabbage was excellent. We had almost finished the buttermilk sorbet and coffee pudding when our server told us they are best eaten together.
Temperanillo wine and OKT beer were good, as were Transcend cappuccinos.
A mostly good meal, but too rushed.
Our server was great and the food was very tasty.
Thanks to a very helpful waiter I had the opportunity to taste five (5) of the condiments (usually only offered with the charcuterie board) spread on some tasty bread. What fun to have the opportunity to taste Fermented Beer Honey (beer blended into a neutral tasting honey and allowed to ferment); Beer Jam (lovely expression of a dark ale); Blueberry Verbena Jam (sour, yet sweet); Strawberry Wine Jelly (more like jam given the tasty slices of strawberry spread throughout. The only disappointment was the Buttermilk Jam which tasted like sugar allowed to go beyond the caramelized stage...Other choices would have been Pickled Mustard Seeds & Lemon Marmalade (which could have been interesting, if made with Preserved Lemon...)
My friends chose the BC Dungeness Crab Rolls and the Berkshire Pork Sandwich. Comments were made on the Preserved Lemon Aioli as well as the Quince Jam. Unfortunately, both contained a fair amount of onions - whether green or pickled white, this is something that doesn't always appeal to a luncheon crowd.
My husband and I went on a date night. It was our first time at Biera. It was amazing! Industrial set up but clean and shiny. The ceiling fan was beautiful! The service was amazing and his suggestions were spot on. The food was unique and we loved trying new flavours curated by the chef. The beer was great and you can get half pints or pints for any of them. The food came quick and was timed perfectly and we loved that they were sharing okates. We built our own charcuterie board and loved it! And the neighborhood is lovely. We can’t wait to go back and I’m already planning to take friends there as well. Well done!
Good beer and food that is off the charts great
We had a fantastic experience at Biera
BIERA is one of my favourite restaurants in Edmonton. The food is almost ridiculously delicious, and it's of top quality. The items on the menu change regularly, and everything that is on there is made with the highest standards. The service was friendly and attentive, and it has a vibrant atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Chicken Katsu was very pink and unappetizing. When I asked server about it I was told this was due to their brining process and ‘we’d never serve under-cooked chicken’. I noticed guest at adjacent table left pieces of his pink chicken thigh as well from same Chicken Katsu dish. Still unsure if it was ok to eat but regardless it was very unappetizing/off-putting and response of the waiter was a bit surly. This part of experience disappointing in what was otherwise a nice meal.
Food was delicious
Unique flavours which they are known for, did not disappoint
I really appreciate a great restaurant that serves excellent food in smaller portions. For a place that seems to pride itself on shareables I was quite honestly disappointed. Food was of ok but I’m not sure who you’re supposed to share it with, I can’t remember the last time I cut myself a slice of cheese so small at midnight. The beer was really good and actually good value for craft. Service was hit and miss. Took half my order whilst I was still deciding and then had to interrupt the waiter from his conversation with an off shift member of staff discussing condoms and drugs near us. And this I still don’t understand about Alberta service, why is so hard for staff to say thank you and goodbye when you leave?? The hostess even turned her back on us as we left obviously not one for too much human interaction.
Food was ok, server was great.
Biera's new lunch menu is a welcome and delicious addition to the dinner and weekend brunch menu we've all come to love and enjoy. Thoughtfully created as with everything else there!
Started off with potato cakes then had the pork sandwich. Both paired well with the Chase 20 beer .. great lunch !!!
It is very nice to have such a trendy little market in Edmonton. We ended up visiting all the shops in the market. My ribs at dinner were delicious ...thank you ACME for your amazing ingredients. Biera was outstanding. All three dishes well done, maybe the crab cakes need a little something, something on the side...the plate looked a little less spectacular than the winter salad and the chicken katsu.
Great food and attentive service!
It was outstanding food and service!
The dishes were easily the most creative I have had in Edmonton. The interesting flavour combinations truly wowed my palate! It is by FAR the best casual option in the city for foodies.
First time for lunch at Beira. Fantastic food, as always, Nathan was a great server, and the place was bumping. Will be back for lunch again!
Food and service were amazing!
Dinner was amazing! Everything we ordered was so good. Our waiter made some very good suggestions - we tried a couple of his favorites and a couple dishes we wanted to try. Every spoonful of ceviche had so many notes, and we loved the winter salad and Acme chicken. We ended off with the panna cotta... I think we both agreed it was one of the best desserts we’ve ever had.
Thank you for a lovely start to our evening! We will definitely be back!!!
We love Biera and visit often! We are treated so very well, the service is incredible and the FOOD!!!! Christine is truly the most creative chef in the city- Her creations are DIVINE!!!!! I dream about all the deliciousness. The beer is also fantastic. Honestly, I think Biera is a gem and one of the best eats in Edmonton!
This is a sharing style restaurant. The menu is small and the portions are small as well. The food is good. I would recommend the beef tartare and the sunflower risotto. The Berkshire pork had a nice presentation and was ok, the acme chicken and the Korean short ribs were underwhelming and at best, passable.
Initially we were discouraged by the limited menu, but each share dish we chose was beyond expectations. Serving staff was excellent in checking for gluten free options. Only complaint is that the chairs are uncomfortable unless you’re a size 6 or smaller. 😆
Great food, can’t decide which dish was the favorite.
Biera is such a great place for a night out. You can tell the food is exquisitely prepared with detail and care from only the finest of ingredients.
The prices do reflect this attention to detail, but it is definitely worth the cost. From Acme meats to Transcend coffee products, they really do use the finest ingredients to bring you an amazing meal.
The service is second to none, and the shared style plates is a refreshing change. Great dining experience - we’ll definitely be back.
Was a great night - drinks were tasty but the food was a little disappointing for the price. We did leave a little hungry. Would go there again for the vibe and the tasty drinks for sure!
Was a fantastic experience!!!
Food and service was awesome
