Big Bowl - Chicago
scratch are the only ways to authentically prepare Asian cuisine.
At Big Bowl, we make our own curries and roast our own chilies
and spices, which are ground daily to prepare a variety of our
signature dishes. Our menu features Chinese favorites like Kung
Pao Chicken, Prime Beef & Broccoli, Sweet & Sour Pineapple
Shrimp and Slow Roasted Barbecue Pork Fried Rice, along with
Thai specialties like Panang Curry Chicken, Vegetable & Tofu Pad
Thai and Red Hot Pepper Chicken Noodles. Whether its sweet or
spicy, rice or noodles, Chinese or Thai that you are craving, our
menu has it all. Located in the heart of River North.
Big Bowl is one of the no-brainer places to go when you want excellent food and great service. Their homemade ginger ale alone is worth the trip - and I never knew it came with complimentary refills!
Their Cantonese ribs on the appetizer menu are packed with flavor and literally fall off the bone. I can't think of one item on their menu that isn't worth the trip.
The food was delicious, the location convenient to anyone in the downtown area, and our waiter (Chris) was outstanding. Did I mention the food was DELICIOUS?
Another good meal. Friendly and attentive staff. Will be back
The table where were sitting and a open wire sticking out of the table hinge and I torn my dress tan pants getting up.
I was embarrassed and failed to mention it to the manager.
The store needs to fix their table, so nobody else damages their clothing of cuts their body.
Great food and wonderful service! Made date night wonderful! Thanks!
Great food, great service, great prices!
We had the best service ever tonight at Big Bowl. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Hope we see him next time we visit Big Bowl.
My best friend and I were there celebrating my birthday, and it really seemed like our waiter didn’t believe me it was my birthday. He never said he didn’t believe me but he gave off that vibe. He also got a bit snippy
Service was great, right on time but not too obtrusive. Food was great.
It was great
The service was amazing! Unfortunately our order was messed up, but the manager was quick to fix it!
Great place for lunch, great food, service and value.
Our server was great - a really nice guy. Our food was tasty. The setting leaves a bit to be desired, but whatever. It was a tad noisy, but we weren't expecting a library-like experience.
Some of the best Chinese/Thai food we’ve had on top of fantastic, friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend it more.
So happy to retry this place that had closed in our home town several years ago. Food still delish and plentiful. Great for leftovers.
Service was warm and efficient on a cold winter night. Only suggestion would be to update the space.
Started a tummy homemade ginger-ale sodas (which I recommend).
Ordered pot-stickers, which were AMAZING, but they took 20 MINUTES from the time we ordered at 2pm on Saturday :(
Sever knew the menu and food well, but I wanted/asked for a spoon to eat my food, he never brought it , I had to ask someone else
:(. I had orange chicken (non breaded version), my friend had Mongolian beef. Both were super yummy and just the right amount of food. I ate everything, felt full &comfortable, not bloated
Food was great; fun drinks; dessert was awesome. Dinner Portions are large. Service was attentive; fast and knowledgeable. Been here many times and never disappoints!
Consistently good, flavorful food, great atmosphere, and we always have the best service with our favorite waiter, Enrique.
Great meal fine service. We went late afternoon so restaurant was quiet.
Awesome food and service. 4th time here and we will be back !
Reserved via open table was not necessarily as there were many open tables. Anniversary celebration dinner. Ordered ribs and special shrimp and sea scallop lettuce wrap apps. First bite bit into something so hard damaged tooth. Lost appetite did not finish meal.
Delish! Great service and food and I would recommend it for authentic Chinese/Thai food. We all loved our food, which included lettuce wraps, wonton soup, Thai curry chicken, sesame noodles, and Mongolian beef.
They have a great build your own bowl option that is full of vegetable options and your choice of meat as well as rice or noodle options, including cauliflower rice. There's also a great choice of Chinese and Thai menu items you can order. I made my own steak bowl this time and added habanero and serrano peppers to spice it up and I loved it! Great service by my waiter, Jon W. Wine is a bit pricey at $9 or $11 per glass, but it is downtown Chicago, so.... Still an excellent visit.
Time to upgrade the room and the facilities...thank you!
Great service tonight! Love the soup, perfect for a cold night and for fighting a cold!
Would not recommend. Salty food. Msg? Tasted liked everything was served out of a box.
Big Bowl is one of my favorite restaurants. There really is something for everyone and they will customize almost anything to fit your needs. Their egg rolls are amazing with the peanut sauce. Huge portions, good prices and part of LEYE. It's a go to when I have people staying downtown.
Good but expensive for what you get. $50 for alright Chinese food is kind of a rip off
Birthday, the waiter surprised us with a cake with a candle on it! Best waiter ever
Amazing meal! Best Kung Pao Chicken and Orange Chicken everrrr!!!
We had a reservation for 7:00 pm. There was a change of plan so we arrived earlier. There was no issues about changing my reservation, people were super nice.
Very busy on New Years Eve. Nice to see our reservation saving a long wait. Service was the best, so thankful as the kids were hungry and tired. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The kids said the chicken satay was delicious. The pad Thai had a one inch wide noodle, and was very tasty as well
Outstanding vaiter with a big smile, he made our dinner special. Our bowls were just fantastic. Everything was on top! Try the gingerlemonade!
It was a nice experience except for the pathetically slow service.
Worst dining experience ever.
I wouldn’t go back there if they paid me.
Service was terrible waited 45 minutes to be told that they just served the last of the appetizer I ordered 45 minutes earlier. 45 minutes after that with multiple promises from the manager we received our food and it was terrible all four meals at our table were not good.
What made it worse was the tables all around ours with the same server I might add were being taken care of as if they owned the place by the server, manager, and food expeditor.
Our table might as well have been invisible except for the manager make BS promises
Waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful. Big thumbs up!
Fave Chicago spot. Food is delicious and the red sangria is surprisingly good!
The food was mushy. The veggies not fresh. For the price I would say not the best Server was good
We had a lovely group dinner and the food was delicious
