OpenTable Diner (Montreal)

Not worth the money. We had a tasting menu and didn't really like any of the dishes. Their attempt at creativity in Caesar salad was roasted kale buds, that were just hard and chewy. They boast their whiskey selection but don't have a menu, and the combo server/bartender did not seem to have comprehensive knowledge of the whiskers they had. She said 'Umm' about every other word. The casualness was not worth the premium price.

Overall, we had a really nice time at this restaurant. The food was interesting, it came in a timely manner etc. The waitress was very attentive and checked in on us several times during our stay - this is generally a major positive in a restaurant, however we found it kind of distracting. It was supposed to be a nice intimate dinner out with a loved one and ended up being more of an interruption throughout the entirety of the meal. I suppose its a silly thing to complain about, but maybe just glance over and if we seem like we're still eating and enjoying ourselves, you don't need to come over and ask us how every bite is going.
The food was quite good, however there was a lot of fat on the striploin which made for a lot of cutting and putting things in your mouth only to have to take them out a second later. I would have expected a better quality or care taken into the meat prep. Like I said, it was interesting and enjoyable in other ways, but there were a few things that could have made our visit even better.

Absolutely the BEST food I have had in a long time. My third visit - consistent, creative, delicious but totally unpretentious eats - every course! Service is very friendly and efficient. This was my first visit on a Friday night and the music was a touch loud for casual conversation but it did create a vibrant buzz in the room. It's not an inexpensive meal but so worth the price. I will return again and again for the 'every bite yummy' experience. Well done BTKW!

Amazing food experience. Dishes are served family style, and each dish is a masterpiece. Incredible attention to detail, amazing flavours. I love not having to think about things and the courses just keep coming. Truly an unforgettable dining experience, and worth every penny. Great service too. This has become our favourite nice night out place in Hamilton.

nice wine list, a few local beers including Fairweather on tap and an incredible list of whiskeys.

This was our 3rd visit since May. 2 members of our party were arriving late. The staff were happy to accommodate us with food and drink while we waited. The fixed menu was exactly the same as our previous meal in December, leaving much to be desired. We were slightly disappointed as the food was not as tasty and smaller portions, considering the price. . The restaurant was packed and music too loud, causing us to yell in order to have conversation. This restaurant does not have an a la carte menu and although we are not picky eaters, several members of our party did not eat enough. If you do not like beets, this menu was not for you! We love family style but it would be nice to have a little more selection. We requested an appetizer we had in December but they were unable to accommodate. We were surprised with the $4 cup of simple drip coffee and if you have a sweet tooth, this restaurant does not do dessert justice!. The service is amazing, creating a friendly outgoing atmosphere. They are knowledgeable of wine, beer and whisky. We look forward to visiting again when the menu changes and we can enjoy some new flavors. Ps. Do not sit near the door, it was freezing! We kept our coats on!!!!

Absolutely nothing wrong with the restaurant. The setting is lovely, staff were attentive and the food was good. Sadly, nothing was memorable either. Our biggest negative was the price. $50 for a multi-course meal could be a good deal, if the food was spectacular, but it simply wasn't. Complimentary fritters and whisky to start were nice. Having to pay extra for biscuits (when most restaurants provide complimentary bread) was too much. Kalette (described to us as having the crispiness of kale and the flavour of brus. sprouts) sounded great, but was too over seasoned with ginger and balsamic to taste the vegetable itself. Fried chicken was good, but not spectacular. Overall we enjoyed the experience, just not memorable or worth the price. Lots of other options available with more innovative food with better value for money.

Dinner was prix fix and "family style" neither of which I am a fan of but the food was excellent and something for everyone despite the limited choice.

This was our second time enjoying a meal at Big Tobacco and they did not disappoint. The food was flavorful and unique, the waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. We loved the welcome glass of bourbon and we enjoyed the opportunity to taste our wine before deciding on the perfect pairing.

This is my new favorite restaurant!

I ordered what I would call the tasting menu or family sharing at $50. Each dish was delicious. Once tried, I would not do it again. A lot of food for one (I think the chef was generous to me]. Although delicious the food combination was unusual going from biscuit, to Brussels sprouts to barley risotto to fish and chips to steak to dessert. I might have elongated the battered fish and chips - just didn’t seem to go. My dining partner ordered the Fogo cod and chips. Was amazed that he got same size plate as my fish for $30. Lot of money for a small portion.

As I said food was delicious, I would go back if they opened up the menu to regular menu choices.

Cannot fault the service - young lady was very attentive.

Perfect dining experience in all ways! Our server Amanda was welcoming right from the start, she made us feel at home and started the night off perfectly. Our table of four shared 6 dishes and everything was excellent ,we left very happy and full of great food. The biscuits were super flaky l, the risotto was delicious and the oxtail was rich and satisfying. We will be back for sure in the future. Thanks so much:)

Had a chance to check out this restaurant last Friday and had an excellent time. My guest and I enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu and each course was great! Whiskey pairings shared by Nick and his service team were excellent. Will definitely return again! Thanks, Trystan.

We had a great evening. Service and food quality is excellent. The menu is not posted on the website and took a little while to understand. After an explanation, we were good to go. The Tasting menu is the way to go. The atmosphere is very cozy. With a full house, it could feel a little crowded. Overall, a great evening with excellent food. I'll definitely go back again ... especially when the patio is open.

It was a nice change to accept the tasting menu and enjoy the dishes family style. Everything we tasted was delicious from the beets and brussel sprouts to the pork and beef. Nice touch being greeted by the owner with a whisky tasting both before and after our meal. Highly recommend dinner at the Big Tobacco Kitchen and Whisky!
