Birroteca - Baltimore
To start we were sat 3 inches away from another couple in the corner. Our server took 10 minutes to come over. Once you brought over our drinks she was juggling 3 bottles. Our charcuterie took 20 minutes to come out. Not sure why cheese takes 20 minutes. Our 20oz strip was cold when we got our food after taking an additional 30 minutes. Our server was not knowledgeable and had other servers take care of us. They did not give me a new glass for a different wine, very unprofessional. Would have stayed for dessert if it wasn’t for the terrible wait time for everything. Would not recommend if you are looking to go on a date or any special occasion.
Have gone to both locations before. Food is amazing! Great wine selection too.
Something needs to be done to dampen the noise. My ear drums hurt this morning.
Reserved a high top table. Was told upon arrival that they were "overbooked on high top tables due to a problem with Open Table". This was as there were 2 tables available. We spoke to the manager, and he did seat us at a 4 person high top table. While we dined, every table in our section, and 1 in the larger high top table section, was vacated. I'm not sure why they were trying to seat us elsewhere, except that perhaps they were trying to give other servers the business. But to blame it on the "system" and start our experience at Birrotecca that way was frustrating. That being said, our server was amazing and the food overall good.
The food was really good quality however somewhat overpriced for a limited menu. Our table was not ready when we arrived for our reservation and we had to wait over 45 minutes for our food after ordering.
Friday the 15th we had 5:30 reservations.I ordered lamb chops that sat on top of risotto, the risotto was super under seasoned and mush due to being over cooked and lamb chop juices. A friend ordered the mussels, there wasn’t any broth in the bowl and they were extremely fishy. The waitress handled it very well. She brought us a small side plate of risotto and that dish was so salty you couldn’t eat it...the mussels were taken off the bill...my wife and I go there often and this time we brought 3 friends with us and sat on the bar side high top. We had talked up Birroteca and they drove a good ways to meet us there. So to say the least we were super disappointed.
Thanks for taking the time to read this
It’s a date
Fits all criteria!
Food and atmosphere here is great; but, the knock off sodas and lack of brand name beer is less than desirable and really detracts from the overall potential. The Pinot Noir on he menu was awful!
Great food and craft beers. Temps outside we're very cold, we sat on outside wall and it was chilly at the table. Really aggravates when servers don't write orders down and than forget or bring wrong foods. They made it up to us though. Overall good place, been there many times. I'd recommend.
This is an interesting restaurant with good food. In the winter there is a big problem... Because they haven't invested in a double door, the whole downstairs is cold... And it gets colder everyone someone walks in. I had to wear my coat during dinner. Waited a long time for food (first appetizer) to come out and entree came before one of the other appetizers. They apologized and said it was"family style." The lamb chops were nothing special although the risotto was great. Appetizers were fantastic. The restaurant is a bit pricey.
A really fine experience! Service was friendly and efficient. The mussels were among the best I have ever had.
Food and service were great. Restaurant was a little cold, drafty inDining room.
Except for being chilly inside, it was a nice experience. Appetizers were great!
When we arrived we were shown to a table right next to a family with young children, I mean within 18 inches. We asked for another table and was told that we could not be accommodated. We said we were willing to sit at the bar and at that point, we were on our own. The bar also was reserving places for patrons arriving an hour later but the bartenders graciously tried to accommodate us. Service was great from that point on although all of our food was delivered at once rather than being staggered a bit.
Loved my first experience! Excellent food, service, and craft beer selection!
Always my local favorite hidden gem! Always packed and always worth it.
Margarita Pizza had very little cheese (most expensive ingredient), 4 basil leaves, acidy tomato sauce.
Pizza so poor we did not take home half pizza leftovers.Cesare salad had brown edges. The Kale salad was good, dressing too citrusy. Excellent wait staff.
Went for restaurant week, and I felt the portions were small.
Reservations are not honored at Birroteca. They are a suggestion. We waited for 30 minutes for our table and finally decided to eat at the bar. The staff did not seem to care. No one said they were sorry. This is not the first time.
Atmosphere and food were great. Waited a bit long for our table but the bar was nice and we enjoyed our beers.
We had a nice meal on a Saturday night, it was lively, yet cozy. Lots of interesting variety on the menu, good service. Pizza and muscles were great. We would have been more inspired by the cocktail menu with some less sweet concoctions, but it pushed us to explore the beer and wine menu instead. We were not disappointed.
We had a nice time and the food was very good. Desserts were excellent. A few things contributed to our lower rating. It was very busy and the parking lots were full. Despite our reservation and confirming by phone that afternoon, our table was not ready on time - we were seated 25 minutes late. We were escorted to the bar which was a fun place, but service there was slow - we waited 10 minutes for someone to take our drink orders. Getting refills -since we had so much time - was similarly slow.
Fantastic dinner with layers of flavors. Innovative execution of American classics. Vegetarian friendly. We will be back soon!
Did not like being seated near the front door entry where it was cold. Food was delicious, location a little off the beaten path. Overall good!
Our server Emily was lovely. She made the experience enjoyable. The food was great although I did not love the shrimp risotto. Everything else was delicious, including the pizza, beef agnolotti and the calamari is always my favorite (smaller portion than I remembered). Lovely wine selection as well!
Everything was delicious and our server was great! Had an all around great experience. Make sure to try the Brussels sprouts and Crispy cauliflower!
Great Food and drinks as usual. Can't wait to come back
My birthday dinner was perfect. We all had a great time, food and beverages were delicious and our server was engaging, charming and knowledgeable of the menu. One of our favorite places to eat and always look forward to the next time.
Food was very good with the exception of the Sea Bass Family Platter. The fish was dry and overcooked. Grilled Octopus, Calamari and cheese/meat platter was excellent. Pizza is always a plus. Will stick with that next time. Jason, our waiter was outstanding. Great personality and service.
We love the Crispy Cauliflower and could make a meal of it. We tried a different pizza--the Spicy Italian--and though it was very good, we didn't like it as much as some others we had before. It was a bit too salty without an acidic ingredient to cut the richness.
I tend to spend many special occasions here, but it is also a great place to go anytime for anything!
We had a great time with friends on New Years Eve. The food was delicious.
I'll admit to choosing this spot based on its location (close to the "Miracle on 34th Street" light display, but will absolutely make a special return trip just for this restaurant. The bar menu is extensive and creative -- with knowledgeable bartenders who make excellent cocktails. But the real star is their understated menu, with lots of great veggie options beyond the usual suspects. I opted for the wild boar pasta, and it was perfection: hearty and rich. The service was responsive, funny and warm, without erring on the side of being informal. And dessert? Don't miss the kit kat cakes...heaven! It was just a perfect meal and so reasonably priced. We look forward to a return visit soon!
Micah was our server and he was delightful! He went out of his way to make our children feel special. Thank you.
I have been to Birroteca several times. The pizzas are amazing and the ingredients fresh and unusual. The octopus and the calamari are especially delicious and unique. The prices are a little high if you compare it to pizza joint prices. But, there’s really no comparison between Birroteca’s pizza and the run of the mill pizza.
Everything was great except for the sizes. I was expecting it to be bigger since they plates are expensive
Had the table in the back near the door. The cold from the door and the heat from the heater drove us nuts. High marks for the overall experience v
While the brussel sprouts were absolutely amazing and the the pizza selection was fun, our overall experience was rather disappointing. The table was SO close to the surrounding tables we genuinely felt uncomfortable and awkwardly close to the people around us. The waitress said she couldn't do separate checks (which I have never heard of) and her general demeanor was cool and unapproachable. She also became combative and defensive when my husband offered to let the ladies order first. He said he was being chivalrous which she immediately shot down claiming "It was 2018!" I think that must have ticked her off because she never brought us bread after requesting it and when we asked twice for drinks she was visibly annoyed. For as expensive as the menu is- most of the food was just average. Other than craving those delicious brussel sprouts- I don't need to go back and neither do the other 5 people in our party.
My husband and I often come here for date night, and get a booth.
