Very limited choice on menu, to top it off, when I finally find something from the menu but well, they said it’s not available! Lack of service in restaurant side, I had to stand up and walk to front part of cafe to get server! Their dessert would be the only reason for me to go again, nothing else!

Never going back for dinner. I ordered French onion soup and it tasted like too much vinegar was added. Then I ordered the crab appetizer and it came swimming in a yellow sauce and I took one bite and that was it. It was disgusting. One of our friends tried it and spit it out. The boys had beef and it was okay and my niece had the tagliatelle and she picked at it. No taste and she didn’t enjoy. What a disappointment. We were given a free dessert to share but no money off dinner that wasn’t eaten. We paid with tip $140.00 which was a waste.

Food was good but service was lacking. This place is great as a cafe but does not have enough staff or resources in general to run a proper bistro.

I booked online for Mother's Day. The website did not clarify that there were 3 options - 1) regular brunch menu (reservation), a café section up front (no reservation), and high tea (reservation). So I booked for 10:30.

After I booked, I got a mystery call from someone calling back about my reservation and that I needed to pay a $10/person reservation fee for mother's day. They did not identify themselves clearly at first so I thought it was a spam caller. I went and checked on the website at the same time and there was nothing written about this $10 fee so again. I asked to speak to the manager and he insisted that he was. After asking multiple questions about who the caller was (trying to find out if he was legit) and what the fee was for, I was told that "it wasn't his business if I wanted to keep the reservation or not." I grilled him for more information and it turns out it was a deposit to keep the reservation.

With all my questions, I was able to discern that he was legitimate so I paid the deposit. I insisted on a confirmation email. This employee was named Danny I believe.

On the day, the regular menu did not have a lot of selection so we were lucky that they had extra servings and could accommodate us. We had a lovely "in training" server who went above and beyond to accommodate us. The food was incredibly slow at the start but when it came, it all came at once so we were happy. The owner visited every table.

The food was wonderful. It was pricey, but worth it as a treat.

I would recommend that they re-train anyone getting on the phone to start with something like "my name is Danny and I'm calling from Faubourg in Kerrisdale with regard to your reservation on xxxx date."

Great food and friendly service. This is an odd little spot; tucked away at the back of the Faubourg bakery shop. Only 16 seats, so best to reserve. Traditional french bistro fare, but sans duck confit. We shared a crab cake, awesome but super rich. You could share this with four people! Beef bourguignon came in a little ceramic pot with mashed potatoes in a second glass pot. Very tasty and the ceramic kept it hot. The vol-au-vent was also delicious, a great rendition of this classic dish. Too full for dessert. We'll try Bistro 41 again when we haven't had a later lunch!

This is our second time there - they really put an effort into the food and service - Not really known for evening dining but a pleasant surprise. Perhaps not the best views but a great spot for locals in Kerrisdale - you will enjoy and we found the prices reasonable certainly in comparison to the quality of the food.

You will feel so welcomed by the time you enter the store. It’s tiny but well decorated. Food is really classic French cuisine, and you would definitely enjoy.

We had a dinner with friends at the Faubourg in Kerrisdale. Very nice and cosy setting, food was absolutely fabulous. One of us asked for gluten-free dish, and tuna they brought was simply exceptional. I just came back from Paris and was delighted to find this little restaurant serving authentic French dishes. We enjoyed the evening very much, the service was wonderful. We'll be back!

Everything was outstanding! I wasn’t excepting such great service and food tonight, food over there tasted exactly same as my grandma’s classics back home in France, otilia, our waitress, even tried to communicate with us in french while explaining the menu.
I came to celebrate my birthday, and as a surprise I got from the staff (otilia and the chef) a complimentary dessert with an “happy birthday” writing on the plate, I wasn’t expecting that at all, it was such a kind and generous gesture. Will definitely come back, the bourguignon was just so delicious, can’t wait for their lunch and brunch menu to start next month.

Disappointed that lunch menu displayed on website was not available. Apparently they left voice messages prior to reservation to advise, but the msgs I got were only about other parties booked at the same time.
Very noisy due to a child (of an employee?) playing with toys right behind our table. Inappropriate! Coffee was good. Food was disappointing. Just very ordinary, not at all special. Pastries on display are lovely. Bought one to go when we were leaving. Quite nice. Probably won’t return for lunch.
