The onion burger and Caesar salad were both delicious. On a mid-week, the restaurant was quiet so we could hear each other talk. With bright sunshine streaming through the windows, the room looked lovely. The service was timely and attentive without being intrusive. We're already looking forward to our next meal at the Gladstone.

The food was okay. We had salmon tartare—good, fig and goat cheese flatbread—good, and spinach ravioli—plain/boring. Service was okay, but the server was inexperienced and left to manage the whole restaurant largely alone—good thing we were not in a hurry. The cocktail was delicious.

Need more servers. We waited 45 minutes plus, for our food. Also - ordered the $10 'carafe of OJ' - expected fresh squeezed. Nope ...terrible, cheap OJ. Also the breakfast was less than stellar. My kids and I ordered the classic breakfast - home fries were terrible (some still frozen), toast was soaked in butter. My kids ordered the sausage...worse than McDonalds and I ordered the bacon - 2 strips. Really pretty sad since the venue is truly lovely. They need to step it up. Would not recommend.

A very quiet hotel bistro but don’t let that fool you. I had the fish and it was great. The others had burgers looked alright. Should use American cheese instead of cheddar cheese. Fries are great. My friend had a beautiful mocktail made by the bartender. Polite and attentive service.

Excellent food, the breakfast was your basic things like avocado toast or eggs Benedict but with a creative take on flavors and nicely presented. The staff were nice but service was very slow, I think because they are understaffed. One waiter was also serving the night before until at least 10:30 so was understandably tired. Had staffing been more organized there is no doubt they would get a five star rating.

The Gladstone is a beautifully restored old building. The room was beautiful, cozy and very comfortable. The amazing old elevator was fun to use. Brunch was delicious and the staff was very kind and helpful

Arrived for my friend’s birthday dinner before heading to a show (made note of this reservation with the booking on OpenTable). Waited for 10 minutes to speak to someone at the bar so I could get my table, only to be told the kitchen was now closed. I received no contact from Gladstone House before travelling from across the city. The bartender offered me a free drink, but I had to leave before the birthday boy arrived and find another place to eat. Luckily the Drake had tables available.

I was shocked at the low quality of food served in the Bistro. Two out of our three hot dishes were served to us cold. It was rectified quite quickly by our lovely server/bartender but it was still uniquely disappointing. My side fries came out cold as if they had been sitting on the pass for quite a while.The haloumi was chewy, the leaves on that salad were undressed and the bread and butter pudding looked like it was bought from the local FreshCo. As a landmark hotel in Toronto it’s devastating to experience such low quality food. I live nearby and had wanted to be able to continue to spend my money here but after this evening I won’t spend my hard earned cash at the bistro again.

We were the only people in the restaurant. Literally every other table was empty at 7 pm. The space is gorgeous, the service was wonderful. Neither of us could finish our food. The bar next door was full. So many contradictions. They need to rethink the menu.

We had a lovely breakfast at the Bistro for my friends 30th birthday and we were a table of 9. The ambience is really nice and the service was great . Simple but delicious menu options. Would highly recommend doing one of the weekend drag show brunches that take place at The Gladstone House.

We visited for our anniversary. Moved to the neighbourhood a year ago and have always thought the Gladstone looked cool when we walked by, so we decided to book in for dinner. The server was awesome, so friendly and attentive without being too attentive. Service was prompt, but it's hard to tell if that is because there were very few people there. That maybe should have been a flag to us on arrival. Most folks there were enjoying drinks, not so much the food. We split the CAESAR SALAD (16$) and it was tasty enough but was probably three or four bites each, not great for the price. Then, the description for the dish my partner and I both ordered made it sound so good that my partner decided against the burger they were eying. We got the CARAMELIZED SHALLOT BUCATINI (19$). Unfortunately, it was really not very good. It was like sour-ish, dried-out spaghetti with way too many onions. Not enjoyable whatsoever. The cocktail I ordered LADY OF THE TOWER ($16) was great, my partner got a beer. We ended up at the Drake afterward for Sangria and Dessert, but I kinda wish we had just gone for dinner there knowing their food is EXCELLENT.

Service was spotty. Food lacked depth and flavour. Not artfully plated. My dark eggplant was served on a dark plate. Meals took a long time to come up from the kitchen and were were not hot. Menu has limited offerings. Steak was well prepared, but the side salad was drenched in dressing.

Server was very attentive. We were undecided about the wine and she immediately brought us a small glass of each to try. Service from the kitchen was slow. Food was uninspired. Salad overdressed and bland avocado toast. The Gladstone is newly renovated and reopened. Lots of room for improvement
