Bistro le SAM - Fairmont Château Frontenac
Awesome food with an amazing view. The service was just fabulous.
Our waiter, David, was exceptional, as was our meal. Crab cakes, Caesar salad, onion rings, for lunch what more could one ask for? Oh, and an amazing view. Perfect!
Duck confit wings were excellent! Burger was nothing special. In fact it was dry. Did not come with mayo/mustard and arugula as described on menu.
From the moment you walk into the restaurant, you know you made the perfect choice. Food, service, ambience were fabulous!
I love this restaurant! We went two years in a row for our wedding anniversary and we always get a nice table with a view on the Terrasse Dufferin, the service is really good, the atmosphere is quiet and the food is simply delicious! Planning to go back again next year!
El servicio excelente! Michael el mesero es el mejor! La comida es simplemente deliciosa! La vista... uff privilegiada. Tienen una cava muy completa. Nos gusto mucho el restaurante
Le SAM was outstanding! We were greeted pleasantly upon our arrival and seated at a table with a beautiful view. Our waitress went above and beyond when she offered to go to the restaurant next door to get an item le SAM didn't have on the menu. The food was so delicious! This is number one on our list to return to.
Beautiful restaurant right above the St. Lawrence river.
Belle ambiance, vue superbe sur le St-Laurent.
Un peu onéreux pour un lunch du midi , mais bon....on est au Château Frontenac.
Great service from Hughes. The food was very good
The servers were really nice and professional. The food and presentation were great too. However, the overall experience was not excellent. The menu, tables and glasses are obviously not maintained so it reduces the value of what is supposedly a high end experience.
We had a wonderful lunch here last week and enjoyed the view and the whole experience. We made reservations with Open Table and were seated within 5 minutes. The menu is perfect for lunch. I enjoyed shrimp and my husband had a fish and chips entree. The bread served with the meal was also very tasty.
The restaurant was busy and we had terrific service from our waiter. He was very attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is upscale and trendy. I like the restaurant furnishings and the bar was quite attractive. A great place to eat.
Hostess quickly accommodated a request to be seated a half hour early. Waiter Marc was exceptional as was the view from a window table. The food, especially the fish special, was wonderfully prepared and presented and the cost very reasonable for excellent quality.
Absolutely outstanding meal and service. A beautiful restaurant. It was especially nice that they had gluten free dinner rolls which my wife said were the best she had ever had. Great experience.
My boyfriend and I had an incredible dinner at Bistro Le Sam while on vacation. The food, service, and view were outstanding! We highly recommend eating here if you have a chance!
Food and service were both excellent. Would highly recommend as a place to have dinner if you are in Quebec.
We went back a second night because we enjoyed our dinner so much. We had outstanding service, amazing appetizers, dinner and dessert. They even accommodated our picky daughter. We also enjoyed the speciality cocktails.
Top 10 Charcuterie boards I've ever had but the service was awkwardly slow. A soup came out stone cold and was sent back. The manager came over and offered a drink on the house but still charged for it. All in all lots of potential but the service was so bad, we would not go back.
On vacation with my daughter, we had dinner here our first night. I’d eaten here 3 years ago and it was even better than I remembered. We are both vegetarians and the options were impressive. The veggie burger is delicious and the ginger-cashew tempeh was amazing. From the White Cosmo cocktail to the Honey Crème Brûlée, everything was perfect. My coffee came with freshly steamed milk! The service was perfect, the views are breathtaking. Cannot say enough.
Amazing food, great ambiance and stunning views.
My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at le SAM. The food was absolutely delicious and the menu had good variety for everyone along with some house and Canadian specialties. We each had cider, confit duck leg, and the baked seafood and everything was SO good. The staff was friendly and accommodating—we asked for a window seat when we arrived and we received just that. The view out the windows of le Chateau Frontenac is beautiful. A little on the pricey side but not too bad and if you are looking for a special night out, absolutely worth it!
Very average. The service was incredibly slow and the food did not equate to the prices charged. The onion soup was barely warm, the salad had far too much dressing and the entrees were nothing special. We went simply because it was the Frontenac. There are many better places in town.
Bistro Le Sam, not only is it a beautiful view of the River, it is a complete experience of a great restaurant in a casual and well-kept atmosphere, the service is very friendly and warm, but the most special are its foods;
Very fresh ingredients, all local and high quality are the raw material of this beautiful place, we have enjoyed cheeses from its cellar that are authentic gems of the gourmand! Do not miss your cheese board with a wine of your liking from the extensive list of options; let yourself be pampered by your craving for the main courses (they are all delicious);
It is very worthwhile to indulge in Le Sam, it is much more than sight.
We hope to return very soon with the beautiful memory of this evening.
Beautiful property and amazing service. Lots of good options for snacks or meal
Not bad - food was great but, they could not find our reservation when we arrived and it was very busy. It was about 2.5 hours for lunch.
I had a reservation for NYE. For some reason, the open table reservation was not showing up in their system. I showed my email confirmation and as they were trying to get the restaurant prepared for a private event- the hostess was kind enough to honor the reservation I had. The service was great- the food delicious (chef even accommodated my request for no dairy side dish) - to top it off - didn’t feel rushed to finish my meal and even had time to enjoy dessert and extra glass of wine. I’ll make sure to go back next time I’m in town.
Je leve mon chapeau au gens du fairmont! Toujours accommodant et ce meme un 25 décembre ou tout les endroits sont plein et qu'on refuse des gens!! Pas au fairmont!! Exceptionnel!
Deuxieme question trop longue......
Absence de menu du jour pour le midi
Loved it! Great experience, super happy with the service! Thank you
We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated right away at a lovely table beside the windows overlooking the Riverwalk. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The food was very good my ceasar salad and the St Laurence seafood baked shell were very good. Very enjoyable experience.
Simply outstanding. Wonderful staff, great food and amazing views. You do need a reservation and should ask for a table with a view. The is a special place.
Birth day outfilting
My husband and I checked in for our dinner reservations 10 minutes early but left the restaurant shortly thereafter, without even sitting down at the table we were assigned. Here is why. We were staying at the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac, in which Bistro le Sam is located, for 3 nights on a Tauck tour. We made dinner reservations for Bistro le Sam early in the day, requesting a table in the atrium overlooking the river. When we arrived at 6:20, there were only a few tables taken. The hostess ignored us for 4 or 5 minutes while she went through receipts, referred to the computer on the host stand, and spoke with a server. When she finally turned to us, she announced that atrium seating was not guaranteed. She looked out on the atrium and could see that there were more open tables than occupied tables. Nonetheless, she took us to an interior table adjacent to the check-in line - pretty much the worst table in the restaurant. When I asked why we could not be seated in the atrium, she responded that those tables were reserved by people who made reservations a week or more ago. My husband responded that the Tauck tour people who were seated in the atrium had not made reservations as of last evening, because we had eaten with them in Champlain and they had not made any decisions on where they were having dinner the following night. The hostess then said that "she was not in charge of deciding who sits where." My husband and I were willing to pay the high prices of the sandwiches and burgers and exhorbitant wine mark-up (a bottle of the house Bordeaux is marked up 6 times when compared with retail on the Vivino app) if we had been given the Quebec city and river view as requested in the reservation. However, the unprofessional behavior of the hostess coupled with the inferior table caused us to leave the restaurant and walk a few blocks in the rain to Wong Chinese Restaurant where we enjoyed casual atmosphere, well-priced food and wine, and friendly service.
An amazing place with great service. However, when we got there they said that Open Table was supposed to be blocked for the night and had to scramble to find us a table. They did a good job recovering.
Outstanding ambience overlooking old Quebec. Waitress Annatase was extremely friendly. Overall a very nice experience for lunch with friends during a port stop on a fall colors cruise
It was a nice place with a great view. The food was good but the pea soup was disappointingly plain. The waitress was very pushy at the start, trying to upgrade our order to something more expensive. Then for the second half of the meal she ignored us.
Great table overlooking the St Lawrence river. Good food. Goats cheese and beetroot appetiser was lovely but huge. Great ambiance. Iconic hotel..loved it. 😀
