Bistro Sakana Ratings and Reviews
Fresh fish. Excellent presentation.
Fantastic service and excellent sushi. Will be back again!
One of our favorite sushi restaurants in Vancouver. Food and service are excellent. Try their in house smoked sashimi - amazing!!!
Yama is an excellent chef. Great variety of fish. Fresh & tasty. Had a very good hamachi Kama. Very good service.
After we were seated we waited, it took them nearly 10 minutes to bring us our menus. Not too long after that, we were approached asked if we had a reservation- even though we had told them about our reservation when we arrived and were told that this was our table. Overall, the food was good, but in my opinion overpriced once you consider other similar restaurants in the city.
The food was really amazing. Also the portion wise was very decent.
The only thing we didn’t enjoy as much was the seating that night. We originally booked a table for four. But we called in 3 hours before the actual reservation to change our attendees will just be 2 instead of 4.
We were seated between two groups. Each of them has a spare chairs to put their personal belongs. We felt like the restaurant just want to make the best use out of it instead of really caring how we feel. They sat another group down very close to us. (Less then 3 inches between two tables)
And also this kind of set up was too crowded that we didn’t get our water refilled toward the end.
The freshest sushi I’ve had in a long time.
It was interesting for our first visit. The waitress was polite as was the staff but we found that we were not attended enough. We waited longer than we should’ve to order and drinks weren’t refilled until we were ready to pay, long after we were finished.
Tables are too small. Difficult to communicate with servers.
Great meal. Tons of dishes, expertly prepared. Great service from staff.
Their happy hour menu is value for money. All my friends enjoy the value and quality of this menu.
Food and service are excellent at Sakana. I prefer a quieter venue, but.. overall Im confident in recommending Sakana
Terrific. Manager help serve us and was a real asset to our dinner guiding us to really tasty selections.
The restaurant was overall pretty decent. The food was beautifully prepared with an artistic and elegant look though the taste could be improved. The service was great; servers were all very friendly and did a great job. They gave us eight servings of free desserts for my birthday, which was very heart warming to me. I did not expect that.
A very romantic atmosphere there with dim lights and candles at night. Great place overall!!
Excellent meal, good service, what more do you want?
Excelent place to have a great diner
Can't miss. Great food, service, selection, venue, value, atmosphere/location
Do not waste your time. I've had better sushi at the grocery store.
Very nice spot. The owner waited on us and was a great guy!
Good ambiance but I wish the food lived up to it.
Food was good, however, it was the worst service I have ever experienced. No water refills, no drink request, servers were very rude and it took over an hour to get our first order of sushi. We got there at 7:30 and left at 10:00 ordered three different sushi rolls that took 2.5 hours to come out of the kitchen. The place was not slow but is also was not super busy.
Bistro Sakana was pleasant, breezy and charming. The earnest owner was helpful in providing recommendations and enthusiastic descriptions of his wife's creations. The sake was good, and the quality of food was excellent. It was almost full, and on a Wednesday evening customers included a former mayor of Vancouver and a notable television personality (names suppressed in a Canadian way of respecting people's privacy). Delightful evening.
Very fresh food. Arrive early for faster service. On a Friday night, after 8pm, the food's arrival slows down. We wanted a few more items towards the end and the wait was a bit long. Staff was great.
This was a great sushi meal. The service was fantastic, and it was very busy. Beware, the food is a little precious (meaning pretty and small). It was pricey even by sushi standards. Still, I would go back. The seared salmon with a razor thin slice of raw jalapeno is amazing.
Great spot with friendly service and unique menu items! Excellent patio for people watching.
Favourites: Aburi, Tuna & Avocado crepe, black sesame encrusted tuna, duck
Food and service are fantastic every time.
Fantastic specials, personalized service, and great prices. As a foodie from NYC, this was definitely one of the best meals I've had in a long time.
