Open Sushi Bar
Enjoy my dining on Saturday evening. Likely to come back and try other types of dish served.
Terrible service. Food came out very slow all night. Had to ask what happened to our beers three times. Our hamachi and salmon kama took nearly an hour to come out after ordering. Tea often not refilled. Will not be back.
Good food. It would be helpful if menus had images to entice but i guess that's what your phone can be used for. Small tables when seating for 2 so don't order too much at once or there will be no where to fit it.
Ordered second pot of hot Sake and was given a pot of hot water... obviously a mistake but that shouldn't happen. However it made for a memorable funny moment on a first date!
Nice cozy spot and staff was very friendly.
Amazing food but the service was unusually bad. I have been here numerous times but have never experienced such poor service. We were virtually ignored for most of our time there which is too bad because we difinitely would have spent more had it been better.
Poor service. Not sure if ownership has changed but it’s been terrible lately regarding service. Multiple people serving each table and poor communication from each waiter to another which causes confusion amongst themselves as well as customers. I used to enjoy my entire experience there, as of late I’ve been really unimpressed with the quality of service and food quality going down. I’m assuming it’s due to poor management.
Language barrier with servers is inconvenient. As well, they push their fresh sheet items very hard and takes up a lot of time when you first get seated. The food is fantastic but communication and understanding customer likes and dislikes needs improvement.
It was fabulous like always ;) we enjoy the environment and food! Even good service :) Servers were so kind and friendly.
The food was quite good, which makes it a real shame that the service was so bad that we almost didn't get to eat. Our order came out very slowly -- some of it an hour after we sat down -- in staggered dishes, and it was mostly incorrect. The wait staff ignored the instructions entirely.
Delicious food, quick service. Was a bit noisy, but what to expect on a Friday night :)
Food and value is good but service is inconsistent, aggressive, and rude.
Some of the freshest food I have ever tasted in Vancouver. A lot of rolls and nigiri were made to perfection. The salmon aburi is always my favourite.
The sake list is amazing and above all the wine list is full of BC vqa goodies.
I have to strongly complain that the service is inconsistent and on this day too aggressive. Waiter with strong asian accent has the gift of gab and tells a long long story on the menu and I didn’t understand half of what he was saying and I found him to be too aggressive and rough. He kept always trying to change what I wanted to order. I am aware what I want. He also crunches down at inappropriate times. Rude!!
I visit this restaurant time to time and usually leave very good reviews from my experiences but I really didn’t enjoy the experience with the server assigned to me today.
We had a fun time and really enjoyed the food on the happy hour menu.
Good food but Server Talks Too Much!!! Annoyed!!
Food was good , the Sake was superb and the value was more than excellent. They have a good Omakase as well. I would have given it a higher rating however, the service made it an uncomfortable experience.
I wasn’t happy with the service. Our server was a tall male whom just simply wouldn’t stop talking. This ruined the experience. We know he probably wasn’t a Japanese and yet he over sells, over exagerates, and over talks annoying most of the table. We wanted to be polite so we pretended to be interested.
He might as well even should have joined us at the table. Felt like a seminar in a classroom. If we wanted to know we would have asked.
Some people just want to be left alone to enjoy the meal in privacy without feeling pressure. I am sure other tables feel the same annoyance over hearing him in the surrounding tight space.
Full marks if he would just have kept it short and sweet.
Great selection of appetizers and shareable small plates makes for a fun dinner for a varied and fun experience for a group of 4-8 people!
Excellent food, excellent sake, excellent service!
I go here by myself and sit at the bar and just enjoy the food. Omakase! Do it!
Food was great, service was good but they forgot one item. Definitely order off of the daily special menu, lots of fresh fish from Japan.
Great place to have wonderful omakase! Chief offer us very special sushi. My favourite place to get topical Japanese food!
My regular go to happy hour!
Wentvthere two nights in a row for happy hour dinner excellent food and good service
Excellent Birthday dinner! Thank you for the birthday dessert!! It was the best!
This is one of the best authentic sushi restaurants in Downtown Vancouver. There fish are fresh. They received oversea fish midweek (best time to go in my opinion). Some of their dishes would serve with “real wasabi”, the root not powder. Really appreciate the chefs’ techniques. You can see the details they put into the dishes. Great taste. Can get a real taste of Japan. The only thing is ventilation can be improved inside (patio is fine). Service is good. It’s my go-to-place for sushi in Downtown.
Fresh ingredient, good atmosphere.
Very good place. Service was just wonderful. Fish is so fresh. Sushi is the one of best quality in town. Highly recommend the sake.
Very unique dishes! The sushi rolls are really good and different than the same old ones. We are satisfied after our first time.
one of the best experiences by far in Vancouver. Hidden gem in Yaletown everyone needs to try the omakase they offer it is 100% worth.
One of best fresh sushi around, directly from Tokyo food market
Excellent traditional and modern Japanese, very consistent quality!
Very nice and fresh food. Authentic fish from Japan. Rare to find these types of fish in japonese restaurants in Vancouver. Worth a visit but be prepared to spend money if you want to leave the place with a sated hunger.
Did not have the first two things I ordered and then there was attempt to up sell me which was clearly evident so I cancelled that item altogether.
Not a bad spot but there are a lot of Sushi Restaurants in Vancouver that I would refer people to rather than this one.
Second time here, overall good. Not as good as first experience. We could smell the bathroom from the outdoor pateo which was pretty unpleasant. But besides that, everything was good.
Food was good but nothing different from the usual sushi joint unless you order the fish from Japan. They have a Sake tasting menu which is cool. Had high expectations for the ambiance but it was similar to any other sushi restaurant. Decent quality for the price.
Two hours for our full meal. Waited about 20 minutes on average for each course.
Good food, tasty and special. Service was friendly but disorganized, had to remind them to bring our next course.
Food was amazing! Service was sub-par. Waitress didn't really know we had reservations. Asked for a sake recommendation when we ordered our dinner but the waitress forgot and had to ask another waiter.
Food was so delicious and the presentation was superb. Service was also excellent
We did the dine out menu, everything were delicious, my mushroom ravioli was the best I ever had. My husband liked his duck confit very much. We both enjoyed the warm goat cheese salad. We will definitely go back the next time we are in town.
Excellent food and service
Cool experience, liked it!
