Stopped by Black Marlin for dinner this evening... it's basically a clubhouse-restaurant-bar for a golf course. That's not a negative, just level setting on what the venue is. It's very nice, well decorated, very comfortable. The staff is super nice, friendly and gracious, very helpful with the menu. We started off with a Lemon Drop Martini and a Lemon Berry Mule. Both were good, but very sweet. As a counter-balance we ordered the crab cakes appetizer which was very good. A little more filler than we prefer, but very well-seasoned and pan-fried very well. And the spicy aioli was delicious. For entrees we followed some of our Yelpers suggestions and tried shrimp and grits and fish and chips. One of the advantages of off-season dining in Port A is that places are not crowded, and food is usually served HOT! That was the case tonight. Both entrees were just off the stove/out of the fryer, very hot and good. The shrimp and grits had a very creamy sauce, perhaps a bit much for the dish, the shrimp and grits were drowning! LOL The fish and chips were well fried and the sides made everything super tasty. We had Blue Bell at home so we passed on dessert. We may stop by later this week to try some of the more "lunch" dishes, e.g., fish tacos and the burger. Black Marlin provided a solid dinner tonight, we recommend dinner there, and perhaps lunch too!

The Black Marlin requires reservations, even for breakfast, since they are so popular. They prepared a a nice brunch for our party of 6 on Sunday morning at 10. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, omelette, French toast, two egg plate and avocado toast. It was all tasty, nice place at Palmilla Beach and Golf, Port Aransas. It was a nice way to end our Palmilla Thanksgiving week.

We made a dinner reservation for the indoor dining room. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very frazzled waitress who quickly told us she could not handle another table and escorted us to the patio area, stating that the bartender would take excellent care of us. It was all a very odd exchange. Not what we were expecting for such a nice restaurant. Thankfully the weather was nice. The bartender was the only server working the patio and he asked us to come to the bar to order our drinks and meal. Also an odd request but we complied. His service after ordering was very good. The food was all very tasty. Shrimp and grits and fish tacos were fantastic. My kids enjoyed the lobster ravioli and filet. Maybe my expectations were high as our brunch experience/service the day before was amazing.

The food was awesome. We always get the smoked redfish dip, but we tried the new mole poke and it is a new favorite. The duck as prepared "just right" and the filet was as good as ever. Shout out to El who always greats us with a smile, to Elise who was excellent as ever, and to Kolby who always lights up the dining room.

We had a good time as always. The staff is so friendly -- from the hostess, to the wait staff and also Kolby behind the bar. They make you feel at home. And, of course, the food is awesome. We are never disappointed.

Being off season the restaurant was quiet and not crowded. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. My wife and I both have a gluten allergy and the waitress was very knowledgeable regarding which dishes were gluten free (there were many fine choices). The food arrived promptly and both dishes were delicious. I can't say if the service would be as good during the busy season, but we would definitely come back.

Still one of my Island favorites and hands down the nicest brunch. The bloody Mary bar is a nice touch and the selection of entries has something for even the pickiest of my guests.

It wasn't a pleasant dining experience on several counts. Wrong address pops up on iPhone. Called and was treated like an idiot. Upon arrival, all tables were open...requested to move from bar to table and told 'no'...expecting lots of people in 10 minutes...they never showed up. Bar keeper chatter was misery to listen to...drippy sweet and 'way too familiar with one person. Food was adequate but not great.

The only issue we had was that there was a lot of mosquitoes. They were very nice and moved us to a table away from the door which improved the situation.

We love this place and eat here every time we visit Port A! The food is tasty, the waiters are outstanding, and it is the perfect, crisp, yet relaxed setting after cleaning up from a day on the beach! Recommend reservations. We saw several groups turned away because of the popularity!!

Bartender Colby is awesome. Very engaging and she speaks to all the customers. Food has really not been consistent for a while unfortunately, and the fish was dry. It’s sad to see it..the island needs great full service restaurants.

Good drink menu, brie appy was great. Fried shrimp good but shrimp and grits outstanding. Attentive service. Ambiance is the only “average” thing about the place (typical tourist/island feel). Overall great experience and well worth the visit. Will certainly return.

Walked in for our reservation and were immediately told before being seated we would have to be done in an hour and 25 minutes because they had another reservation or we could sit at the bar. We chose the bar. Then seated at the very end. Several employees just walked by. Someone then came over to tell us the bartender would be with us soon. Too weird and made to feel like we were an inconvenience. We walked out without ordering and the hostess just enjoy your evening totally oblivious.

First, the negative — small signage, so we had to call from the parking lot for final guidance. After that, things got better quickly. The restaurant was understaffed, but Cat, our hostess/server, was outstanding! She sat us promptly. There was a bit of delay taking our order, but once she engaged with us, we were well taken care of. My wife has a rather restrictive allergy, but Cat took down the details, briefed the chef, and came back with an expansive list of options. The food was superb. My wife had the chicken piccata — grilled chicken and capers in a savory lemon sauce over wild rice. The dish was not as tangy as most, but extremely rich and delicious. I had the shrimp and grits — this was not your everyday recipe and that’s meant to be a compliment! Jumbo shrimp and andouille sausage in a rich Cajun cream sauce with habanero cheddar and fresh corn. The taste was incredible and the habanero lingered on the back of my palate perfectly. The rest of the menu looked equally intriguing, so we definitely plan on returning the next time we’re in town. If you get the chance, we definitely recommend the Black Marlin Bar & Grill.

The food came out cold, we were there for 2 hours. Our waitress disappeared for over 20 minutes. I have been a regular at Black Marlin for 3 years now & I will not be going back.

Some of the food is great and some so so. The egg dishes need improvement. The rest is good. So is the service. The atmosphere is pleasant. The brunch mimosas are very good. It is very nice that reservations may be made through open table now. Before, if you didn’t arrive at the restaurant before opening, you could have a very long wait.

Excellent food. The best in PA for sure. Our Fillet Mignon was perfect and then seafood tacos were some of the best we have had. Caprese salad was great as well

Phenomenal dinner and brunch! The scallops are a must order and the redfish dip was excellent. One of the best cucumber martinis ever and the Blavkberry mojito was amazing as well. The shrimp and grits are excellent as well. We will be back here for sure. Some of the best food we’ve had in Port A! Skip the fish and chips and get real food! This place is excellent.
