Blackwall Hitch - Rehoboth
Friday & Saturday:12:00 pm - 12:00 am
Sunday: 10:00 am - 10:00 pm
The food was not as good as it was last summer
We had various people wait on us throughout the evening rather than one dedicated person, which made it tricky when something wasn't right or we needed something extra, etc. The food was so so. Oysters were brought out to the table with no verbal indication of which oysters were what and when we waited for the person to come back and tell us, nobody showed. So we just ate them not knowing which were which. The crabcake sandwich which was touted to be accompanied by lettuce and "sliced beefsteak tomato" was okay. The sliced beefsteak tomato was a pale pink color and questionable in size. Disappointing when you like tomatoes as much as you like crabcakes. I got a gin and tonic toward the end of the evening thinking you can't really go wrong with a standard drink. But lo and behold, whatever house gin they were using was VERY specific. Not my cup of tea. Or gin, should I say.
Overall, a surprising lack of attention to things. And coupled with the price of the experience, I would choose not to dine here again.
The pro of the evening - we had requested a seat by the bar so we could see the Nats game in progress. They made a special move to do that for us. It was appreciated.
The music was a little loud and was hard to have a conversation.
Food was well prepared, service was very good. On this Friday night the atmosphere was loud and lively. The prices are higher here for similar entrees as found at other area restaurants so I was disappointed in the portion size of the red snapper, otherwise I like the place.
This place reminded me why I don’t love chain restaurants. Food was fine, service was good but the whole place just smelled like a moldy tee shirt.
I have been to this restaurant several times before and recommended this restaurant to friends and family. On this occasion we were seated for 10 minutes before we were able to give our drink order. The waiter was apologetic, but clearly overwhelmed. We observed that many of the other wait staff we greeting guests upon arrival and served water and rolls almost immediately. Our salads arrived and we then asked for rolls from the server, but we had not yet received our drinks.
It was clear that this particular waiter was overwhelmed compared to the others and I wondered why they did not let another waiter take the table. It made the whole experience difficult rather than just enjoying our night out. There were mangers on duty but they seemed disinterested.
Overall the food was very good with the exception of the Brussels sprouts. They were listed as maple glazed with belly bits, but there was no glaze, they were barley cooked and very salty.
This is my favorite restaurant in Rehoboth, but actually the service on my last two visits were pretty terrible.
Food was good overall. Service at table and bar were poor at best. Waiter never asked if we wanted a second round of drinks despite us waiting for an hour for our food. Had to go to bar to get second round of drinks. Bartender was inattentive and did not acknowledge us for over five minutes. Despite the food quality, we will not be returning due to the extremely poor service.
Not as nice as the one in Alexandria. Food and drinks were good. Service was adequate (very busy). My big issue was the smell. There was an overpowering smell as soon as you entered- mildew maybe? It was unappetizing. Honestly if not for the smell I’d give four stars based on a good menu and great cocktails. Service not good enough for 5 stars though.
Great family dinner
Food was much better than expecting and good value. Would definitely go back for food. Service slow and waitress forgot to put in our order.
Delicious as usual, can get busy. I love that the menu clearly marks the gf options. I got the pork chop and the glaze and sides were so yummy.
Great location near the boardwalk. They seated us promptly. We enjoyed cocktails, appetizers and dinner. Everything was served fresh and hot. I’m glad we selected this restaurant.
Food was great. No complaints about the service. I thought music was too loud and we were sitting as far from it as possible. The hostess said it would be over in 15 minutes- not accurate as it ended 5 minutes before we left after having been there over an hour. It would have been perfect otherwise.
This was our first time visiting this restaurant. I would imagine it will be our last as well. The food was good. Really good. But, it just missed the mark of being somewhere we'd go back to. Let's face it...there are SO many awesome beach restaurants, a place has to be really good for us to make it a yearly repeat during our vacation week. A couple things happened during our visit that didn't impress us. First, I made reservations for 6 people. We loved being able to do this online. However, when we got there we were seated at a high top table in the back bar area. We thought that was weird. High tops are difficult for young kids and older folks, both of whom we had with us. Since it took awhile for us to get waited on, my husband went to the bar (which was 3 feet away from our table) and ordered a beer. The bartender was awkwardly rude and told him that his server would get his drink order. My husband said he just wanted a draft now so he could enjoy it while he waited for the waitperson. Odd. Why did he need to be hassled about the proper procedure to order a drink? It was a bar, after all. During the meal, I kept feeling drops of water and my elbows kept feeling wet. After feeling this sensation for awhile, I looked up and realized that the ceiling was leaking and I was in the direct line of fire for the drips. Why in the world would they have seated guests who bothered to make a reservation under the leaking ceiling? Then, when I told the waitress about it, she said, "Yeah, I know. I'll get you a couple napkins to catch the drips." Really? That was the solution? No option to move seats or to send a manager over to apologize to me for getting dripped on for my entire meal? I didn't make a bigger issue of it; I simply paid my bill, left, and decided that we would try other restaurants next time. Again, the food was good, but it takes way more that good food to earn a repeat customer.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday because the menu looked as if it had heart-healthy options. I had dined there once before and was pleased with the soup and the ahi salad, and so thought the experience would be good. It was not! My martini was waterd down, and the entrees were saturated with oil. What was advertised as a brick-roasted chicken breast was actually half a cornish game hen and was extremely greasy. The mashed cauliflower tasted like it had an entire stick of butter mixed into it, and the broccolini was saturated in butter as well. The Cajun pasta dish was better, but still was saturated with oil. The chef should simplify his techniques. Overall the food was under par and over-priced. Ths was a very disappointing experience.
After being sat right away at a nice table my husband and I were really excited for a nice date night away from the kids. We immediately put in an order for an appetizer. That is the last time we saw our server until 30 minutes later when she finally returns stating the kitchen is slow and the manager will be comping our app. 15 minutes after that we have no bread. No visit from the manager. No appetizer. 5 minutes after that we walked out. 50 minutes at a restaurant with no food. This was the worst experience and the management and server did nothing to make it any better we were completely ignored and overlooked. This is the first time I have ever had to walk out of a restuarant we will not be returning.
Great Script - Lousy Casting!
This place had a great menu, a variety of choices and the presentation and quality was great
On the othe hand the staff was clueless. Took forever to serve the drinks. We ordered a dozen oysters for an appetizer and a Crab Cake sandwich and a Steak and Bleu Cheese salad as entrees. When the oysters were finally served, they immediately tried to serve the entree on top of it.
Food excellent, staff had no idea what it was doing. Would not go back. Too many other choices.
Great place to gather with friends. Probably a bit more noisy than we expected. Overall, a great place and experience!
Loved the service and the atmosphere. Everything we ordered was delicious!
We had great orange crushes and the fish tacos were great!!
every summer we find ourselves there twice for dinner. The menu is very varied and all our choices have been great: oysters on the half shell; watermelon salad; fish and chips; burgers; entree salads...all winners
Air conditioning vent dropped on us constantly. Not offered a new table. Wet slippery floor from the dripping. Pointlessly loud music. Food was average.
Not planning to return.
Food was good couldn’t understand waitress
Had to ask 3 times for a glass of ice
Air conditioning was off?? Very warm!!
Made us want to leave quicklyp
Was upsetting to us that we had reservations and was seated at a high top table in the bar area. 8 person reservation a month in advance. My mother who is older was very upset and asked if we could please sit in the main dining area and they said no. Very unhappy about that. Otherwise food was pretty good and our waitress was good!
Food was flat and overall lacked flavor. Restaurant had only one type of oysters even though it does feature that they offer ousters. Server did not even mention oysters when reviewing the menu with us. Restaurant has a large bar but did not have any bartenders. Servers made own drinks, and only service end of bar had a stocked amount of liquor types. Hard to believe that there are other restaurants in this chain and opening more.
We sat in the front area which was open air- like sitting outside! Food was good.
Great food, great service
The food was less than impressive but ok if youre just looking for a quick dinner. The service was terrible. We had to wait over 20 minutes to find our server to ask for the check at the end of the meal
It was a bit noisy. The steaks were good, but slightly overcooked for what we ordered. We didn't send them back as it wasn't so terrible. It was a solid meal for a good price. We'll go back. Best part was the truffles option for desert. I'm not a fan of huge deserts, and the truffles were the perfect bite-size option to top off a good meal.
Waited 20 minutes after being seated until we located another waitress to ask when we would be helped. The whole restaurant seemed understaffed and there was no apparent manager. We finally got menus and ordered 40 minutes after sitting down. The restaurant was out of both draft beers that we tried to order. Waiter seemed earnest but not adequately trained and had to wait on multiple tables, run food, and bus tables. Stunning interior but food and service were significantly lacking.
Food was not fresh. We ordered the caprese salad and the tomatoes seemed like the had been cut early in the day. Service was friendly but was not interested in why we did not eat half of our meals.
Overall great. They forgot our anniversary, which I had requested a dessert to be brought out upon making the reservation.
Appetizers were great. Service was quick and helpful. The scallops, muscles and salmon were great. I did not give it a better review because the crabcakes and shrimp were skimpy and tasted a little off (could not eat). Also, be warned that the lemonade mixtures (mango anyway) tasted like a bucket of sugar.
Overpriced and hot
My wife had fish and I had a shrimp dish. Both had no flavor. My sides were slightly warm and looked like they were sitting around for a while before being delivered to the table. The front door was open quite often due to people waiting in line to check in. Flies were everywhere that would dive right into the food! Ugh! Had high hopes since this was our first time eating here. On the good side, the bar was fun and the bartenders were knowledgeable and attentive. Hope it improves.
Amazing that even tho they are so busy I feel comfortable ordering food there for my daughter with serious food allergies! So thankful we can eat out at the beach !!!!!!
Loved it. Nice place, good food. A little loud but that’s kind of expected. Service wa good though our server forgot a few things as it was a Saturday night and the restaurant was very busy. Would definitely come back.
This has become our favorite at the beach. This time it seemed like the kitchen was slipping. Maybe because it was a busy Saturday night. Food was ok tonight. We will still come back but most likely will avoid Friday and Saturday nights. The service still was awesome!
We always get the Smokey mussels and tonight they were bland and no flavor. So I’m thinking they were rushing just to get them out. The flatbreads still are amazing.
Unique food options, upbeat atmosphere, casual feel, great dining experience.
First time dining here and I wish we would have gone to Salt Air.
Reservation was confirmed twice that included a high chair but table was not ready when we arrived. Hostess waled away and came back 10 min later. Waiters walked by and finally 4th one said someone will be with you. Seated and had to wait for server. Drinks and salads delivered then we had to wait almost 1/2 hour for dinner. Server came by and advised meal would be out soon. Dinner delivered but no sign of server. No manager came by the table to see how our meal was.
