Liberty Entertainment Group's 2024 project in the iconic Union Station. Blue Bovine combines the traditional steakhouse with the traditional Japanese sushi house to fashion a distinctly modern dining experience. Combining custom elements, such as exclusively designed Canadian maple wood furniture, manufactured in Toronto with bespoke artwork, handcrafted lighting details, and a warm colour palette of deep reds, seawater blues and layers of white to reflect Toronto's four seasons. We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband’s birthday last night. This time, we started with sushi and we all chose seafood dishes for our mains. Everything was fantastic. Our server, Jokubas, and sommelier, Jessica, were very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The chefs are brilliant! Thank you! We also noticed that the volume of the music has been taken down a notch since the last time we were there and that made us very happy!

Writing to express my profound disappointment with the experience I had yesterday, celebrating my 7th anniversary! We had made a reservation for 5 PM (since weeks ago because of all the hypes we had heard) intending to enjoy a meal before exploring downtown, but the service we received was far below acceptable standards and severely marred our celebration. Despite being the only customers in the restaurant at the time, with numerous servers present and available, my order (a short video is attached) —a tray of “Chef’s Selection Sashimi, 18 pieces”—arrived an hour late, only after multiple reminders to both servers and managers. To make matters worse, the dish was served without essential accompaniments like ginger and wasabi, which are standard for any sushi order. This lack of attention to detail is simply unacceptable, especially from a restaurant that positions itself as a premium sushi and steakhouse. During the extended wait, my husband had already finished his Wagyu beef dish, which he had to serve himself, and I had consumed two glasses of wine on an empty stomach because there was nothing else to eat. The first server who responded to my complaints was not only dismissive but also outright rude, claiming, “We were waiting for you to finish!” when I hadn’t even started eating. Such a response is shockingly unprofessional and added unnecessary stress to an already disappointing experience. Given the poor service, the lack of attention, and the dismissive attitude of your staff, I find it unacceptable that no gesture of goodwill was offered, such as a discount or the removal of my meal from the bill. I believe that could be bare minimum warranted, as we paid for a level of service and quality that was simply not delivered. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address these concerns to prevent future patrons from experiencing the same disappointment. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution!

There was nothing to distinguish this from mediocre eateries in Toronto as far as food was concerned. The service was ok. The steaks were underwhelming. The portions were small for what we paid and the taste was below average. The ambience was beautiful. This was a very expensive one off experience! The desserts were tasteless! I will not go back….and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food in Toronto

Vegetable Maki sushi was excellent as well as the side vegetables. I found the steaks underwhelming and did not like the plates they were served on. Service was very nice and would go back for more sushi as appose to the steaks.

The restaurant is inside the union station. The closest entrance is on the side by Bay Street. It is the sister restaurant of Blue Blood. The restaurant is nice. The food was okay. It wasn’t the best steaks I’ve ever had. Which was disappointing since that’s one of the things they want to be known for. I did like the bread served but it was cold when we got it. I don’t know if I would go back for the $600 we spend for 2 people. There are much better restaurants at that level.

Overall food and drinks were really good with a few exceptions. We ordered from the happy hour menu and a regular menu. The sliders from happy hour were not worth it unfortunately. Both the burger and lobster slider were very bland and not seasoned. Nigiri, salad, steak, side dishes, and dessert were great. We did two rounds of cocktails. First round were really well balanced, while the 2nd round were overly sweet. Keep in mind we ordered the same cocktails for both rounds. I’d give this place another try but would prefer black + blue.
