We had a great dinner and dining experience. Our server was friendly and efficient. There were two tables nearby that were extremely rude, demanding, and obnoxious but he took it in stride and continued to provide excellent service! Wish that diners were as great as those working.
Very good place for Birthday
I went to this place with my husband for a special occasion and we were not disappointed.
The view of the marina was beautiful. The food was delicious! Service was very good!
Just an excellent dining experience!
We had an excellent meal, shared sourdough breaded prawns to start followed by halibut and crab main course: very good and flavoursome. Excellent service and we had a fabulous view across the water from our table. The place was very busy but the atmosphere was great.
Sorry, but I thought the crab might be a bit over-cooked. The meal was enjoyable, but I was a bit disappointed in the crab.
Celebrating 34th Wedding Anniversary
Scallops were the best we have ever had, water view was very nice,I would recommend to my friends. The presentation was well thought out and looked wonderful.

We had lunch on the patio. It is not appealing. There are no flowers aside from two planters. The tables are a plain black metal and ugly umbrellas. They should decorate the patio with flowers and put something pretty on the tables, flowers, table cloth ???? The view from the patio is good. The lunch menu is uninspiring. Service was very good.
Just mediocre on all counts: only 2 scallops and 3 small prawns in my feature meal! Bland halibut at top Price and ordinary risotto. Almost rude server.
Service and the view was outstanding, the food was sub standard. My husbands seafood pasta was over cooked,my sons seafood risotto tasted the the clams were off and my steak was tough. I don’t mind paying well for good food , but this was not worth what we paid. The view was over the top wonderful and our server was excellent. I won’t go back for a dinner , maybe for an appt and a glass of wine.
Outsnding food and service. The Crab Leg sample was delicious! The service was prompt, courteous and professional. We very much recommend this restaurant when you are in Victoria. Enjoy!
When traveling to Victoria, we always have dinner at the Blue Crab at least once. The food is always fantastic! We had the scallop and bacon appetizer with the halibut off the fresh sheet.
Followed by dessert with crème brulee, ice cream with house made butterscotch topping and coffee. We brought more family the next night. We didn't have reservations, but were accommodated quickly in their walk-in dining area. I had the best seafood chowder, followed by a great seafood risotto from the fresh sheet. Our son and his wife shared the crab "sampler" with Dungeness and King crab and the halibut off the fresh sheet. The kitchen made a special plate of pasta for our granddaughter. A great place to dine, with a beautiful view of the harbor, great food and excellent service.
The crab sampler was excellent! It made our anniversary dinner very special.
Friendly, attentive service; superb view of the harbour with lots of interesting boat and seaplane activity, and excellent, best ever, halibut dish.
A first class birthday occasion.
I remember this being a fairly high end establishment and found it not to be as much anymore. That being said, it was very good food and service was great. Could have had a few more choices for those who don't care for seafood. Was with a few people that loved seafood but I wasn't one of them. My steak was very good though. A little surprised they charged $2 for bread for the table and when ordering scallops as an add on was charged $22 but only received 4 scallops!
Great seafood with beautiful views of the harbor. Four or 5 different types of crab available.
Went in for dinner, restaurant was very pleasant, its a little pricy, but it is seafood, so we expected that. The dinner was very good, my only complaint would be that the seafood chowder was not good....there were 3 clams in there with some onion chunks, and the cream broth, nothing else. I should have said something, but I hate to complain. Also, I ordered the crab sampler, which was fantastic, but didnt get a bowl or wet wipe to wash my hands, so that should be noted that it accompany such a dish. Otherwise, my companions dinners were very good, and we had a great night.
Great meal and the service was wonderful! We were visiting Victoria while on a cruise and even though we typically stay away from restaurants in hotels, we could not have been happier with our choice. Crab legs were FANTASTIC!
Food was excellent, very tasty and huge portion of crab. The view is beautiful, overlooking the habour.
Excellent spot for a waterfront view on a special occasion. Be prepared though for a very expensive dinner. Cocktails pricey and not great. Loved the mussels appetizer. Crab main dishes are very good but hard to justify the prices.
We had three days in Victoria and chose Blue Crab for one of our dinners. My wife chose the three crab platter and I had the tuna/prawn/crab cake entry. We are from the Maryland/Delaware area and have the advantage of having blue crabs all summer. Sorry, but they beat any other crabs out there. My wife preferred the dungeness over the king and snow crabs, but still not a blue crab. My tuna was very tender and tasty, but was well past a quick sear. The prawns were perfect, but the crab cake was more filler than anything else. No crab flavor at all. A beautiful setting for the restaurant and we would certainly return if ever in the area again.
We came here about 7 years ago and it was great then, seemed to be more upscale and food seemed a lot better too. This time around we were expecting the same but even though the food was decent as far as portion goes and the view of the harbour is beautiful, the rest of the menu seemed overpriced for what you get. We got the crab sampler and there was a decent amount of crab but paired vegetables were definitely an after thought. Playing Coolio in the background didn’t seem like the type of music that should be playing for average $50 plates and my husband ordered an old fashioned that was watered down and too sweet especially for such an expensive place to dine. It would seem like that’s a pretty classic cocktail that most bartenders should be able to make correctly, again especially for the average price tags here. It was a bit of a disappointment honestly.
Food decent, service decent, view beautiful, atmosphere so so, overpriced.
Beautiful views, great service. Dinner was delicious but portion was modest. I don’t eat huge meals anyway but even I found our $40 entree lacking in size. If you’re a big eater make sure you get a salad/appetizer. Having said this, we would still got back. First class dining.
Excellent food and service. It is always our go to place in Victoria.
Thus was our second visit to The Blue Crab as out of town visitors over the last several years. A little disappointed in the seafood offerings but we still had a wonderful meal. Nice wine selection. Great views. Noise level a little loud. Could hardly hear our own conversation at the table due to the acoustics where we sat.
Excellent food and service. Great job in accommodating a celiac. Baked halibut and prawn/scallop mains were outstanding. Large caesar salad starter was enough for two and very good. Great wine selections.
In the past had spicy chai drink. But no more on menu but lucky there was enough memory of how it was made and was excellent!!!!! Bring it back please
Wife and I had wonderful meal. Blue crab platter with king crab legs. Very tasty and we were both very full. Thanks ti everyone! We will be back.
The food here was amazing and our waiter was fantastic!!!
Don’t understand why I did get points for this?
Het uitzicht is fantastisch, maar de prijs- prestatie het lijkt niet goed op elkaar afgestemd. De bediening is echter attent en vriendelijk.
We chose the Blue Crab for our Mother's Day dinner and it worked out perfectly. The food was very tasty, the view excellent, cocktails and ambience first-rate. We've now had several excellent dinners at the Blue Crab.
This was a first class experience and made our weekend. The service was top class, and very courteous. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the wine list was superb. Our server can only be described in glowing terms as knowledgeable and helpful. He watched over us and made the evening enjoyable. The management too were friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to meet our specific needs. This restaurant is highly recommended.
Been to this restaurant a couple of times and have never been even remotely disappointed. Atmosphere is quiet we were seated quickly and the wait staff were on the ball my steak was perfectly prepared as was my wife's scallops and prawns. You need to go there.
We went with friends from Alberta, specifically for the seafood. Since we had not seen our friends for a few months, we were busy catching up and slow in ordering and slow in eating but never felt rushed. An overall great experience.
A solid place but was hoping for something a little less like a hotel restaurant.
We had eaten at the Blue Crab before and found it to be upscale and delicious. We can't say that about our latest visit. It was extremely noisy and we felt the quality of our meal didn't warrant the price charged. The service was fine...but not exceptional. Ultimately, it is unlikely we will return.
This has been our go-to place whenever we visit Victoria from Ontario, and for good reason! If the beautiful view of Victoria's Inner Harbour is not enough, the varied but not too-varied menu, coupled with attentive, but not too attentive service, exquisite presentation, lovely seafood dishes, and a reasonable wine list, which also includes good BC wines, makes this restaurant a wonderful experience all around.
Great food, great service and a beautiful location. I had the halibut which had an incredible lemon butter sauce. It was outstanding. My wife had the scallops and prawns and she thought it was extremely good. The purée was excellent.
Had a great time with my colleagues after an active day and the food was spot-on!
Our usual Anniversary and Wife's Birthday spot. As usual, the food, service and view were all spectacular. Highly recommended. Worth the drive.
We loved our meal and our server was wonderful. What a great place for an Anniversary date.
