Blue Orchid has never disappointed, but it can be inconsistent. On this visit we had the mussels and chicken tempura appetizers (the chicken was for our daughters main), I had panang curry with chicken, and the wife had the nam tok (beef salad). My chicken was pretty chewy, but the sauce was great. Or rice was a bit dry and chewy, like it'd been around for awhile. Tempura chicken was a hit and the mussels were very good (though we felt we could taste the wine in the broth a bit too much). Nam tok was 🔥. Service? Austen provided some of the best service I've EVER had, here in Lincoln, or anywhere. He was attentive but not overbearing, genuinely kind, and casual but professional. We tipped him well, and he deserved it. That guy could work any fine dining restaurant in the country and kill it. I will always recommend Blue Orchid---just know that it can be anywhere from pretty good to great. It is a decent value either way and I can't imagine anyone being disappointed.

Overall this as the worst dining experience we have had in a long time. We waited for 15 minutes after being seated before anyone acknowledged us. The restaurant was not overly busy with approximately half the tables occupied. The seafood was way overcooked, the butter chicken breasts had been cooked a day or so previously and then warmed and plated. The flavor of meats that have been cooked for awhile and chilled is unmistakable and not anything anyone expects. The waiter did what he could but it appeared he had not been trained properly. We had a couple bites of our meals and then asked for the check. We tipped the waiter the normal amount based on our belief that it was not his fault. I hope for the sake of this restaurant that ours was an unusual situation.

Appetizer was average, drunken noodles were really good but probly not worth $16... Service was average. Table cloths but covered with white paper. Had the feeling like they didn't have the budget to create a high end restaurant to charge high prices and took short cuts to try and still achieve both. I would go back again and try new things. I would recommend to anyone who needs a recommendation. I wouldn't go out of my way to make sure I eat here.

Extremely slow service, appetizer wasn’t what we ordered, but after waiting 45 minutes it was worth arguing. Had to pay as soon as the food arrived so we weren’t late for a show. Took a few bites of room temp food and left. Extremely disappointed. This place used to be so good.

We have often been to Blue Orchid and have enjoyed the food and atmosphere. On Monday evening, the spring rolls, the soup and desserts were quite tasty. The entree was not up to their usual standards, but all else was great--excellent service, charming atmosphere, and low noise. This is the first time we've been there on a Monday, so maybe the usual chef was not on duty.

Beware! We love this place so that the service is really at an all time low. A 5:15 pm reservation should be sufficient time to make a 7 pm Lied show but we were rushed since it took so long to get food. Waiter never checked back for another cocktail or water. The food was good but not sure it makes up for lack of timely service.

It was a Saturday evening and the temperature outside was in the 80’s. We found a shady table outside. Our waiter suggested appetizer with the green sauce and he was right, it was delicious. The Pad Thai and a green side salad were also good. I hope to go back and try other items on the menu.

Service was extremely slow even though the place was mostly empty. The food took forever to arrive and was a huge disappointment. The sauces were watery, and key advertised ingredients were missing in all of the dishes. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants, but not any more.

Blue Orchid was excellent and accommodating - originally thought patio, but breeze was a bit much, so no problem to switch to inside dining. Great drinks and food! Definitely returning.
