Bluestone American BBQ features a Latin American spin on authentic low and slow traditions from the US BBQ belt. Chef Alvaro Malel draws inspiration from his Uruguayan heritage, and his passion for cuisines from both American continents to reimagine smoked classics like Yearling Beef Short Rib with chimichurri, and Pit-Braised Pulled Lamb with salsa criolla and arepas.

His talent for bringing together the best of North and South American food traditions has been a drawcard for diners across Melbourne since the restaurant opened seven years ago. He credits the success of Bluestone to his Uruguayan culture and heritage, which is all about “food, family and fire…BBQ is a feature of all my best memories. Absolutely fantastic. The server we had was superb in all aspects. The moment we walked in we were greeted by an amazing smell and beautiful outlay. Once seated the server came over immediately to serve us water and ask if we wanted any refreshments. After a brief chat we were given our drinks and within 10 minutes our food was being served. This was a lot of food due to a Father’s Day banquet. The server presented and advised what each and every piece was. I forgot to mention prior to the restaraunt that my dad is allergic to peanuts but once informed they offered to supply a peanut free replacement. This wasn’t their fault but MINE. Usually I get a bit of a sour look and a bit of grief but in this instance it was perfectly handled. Can’t thank your server enough for this. The food was absolutely fantastic and I’ll be returning to try more. Please extend my appreciation and thanks to your staff, chefs and managers. This is clearly a well organised and passionate restaraunt. To my server with the accent (I believe French) you went above and beyond and my Dad would not shut up about the bowl of Grits you got for him. A fabulous place to celebrate any occasion, food is always brilliant, service team are exceptional, we love coming to Bluestone American BBQ. Our only regret is that we don’t live closer!

We travel from Qld once or twice a year for family visits and since the 1st we tried Bluestone we have come back everytime and never been disappointed.. cya next march

Service by the staff was great, always checking in - but not too much to be annoying. Food was explained as it was delivered to table, Food was excellent, very tasty! Recommend Fiest 3 👌🏽
