Carved out of what were once Schaller & Weber’s smoke houses is a chic and intimate enclave modeled after an Austrian style wine bar or Heurigen opening up into a beautifully lush weingarten, a true oasis on the Upper East Side.

Great fondues both dinner and dessert! Cool setting and vibe. Look forward to trying other items on the menu next time.
The food and ambience were amazing — just transports you.
Great group dinner out place! Definitely will be coming back soon.
the restaurant is super pretty and feels very covid safe!! but two people in our group got belly aches from the food - maybe bc was too rich? i’d still go again for drinks and ambiance!
What a charming spot! Felt so appropriate on a snowy night. Food was excellent, service friendly if a little slow (not the fault of the server, they were just short staffed), all in a cute alpine shack.
cozy & perfect for a winters night! we had fondue & mulled wine. everything was delicious. I’m excited to go back!
Great spot, food was delicious goulash was fantastic.
This was a truly a fabulous dining experience! The food, service, and atmosphere were perfect for a family dinner on a very chilly city evening!
Loved the place!!!
Great fondue, it is like apres ski in Austria 😍
Great outdoor dining experience. Warm and cozy and great food and drink and service.
This place was such a unique hidden gem. Loved it and would recommend to others.
So great wonderful service and fab food.
Fantastic stick to your ribs food in a cute setting. The pork loin wrapped in bacon was decadent. Schnitzel was solid - on par with what Oma used to make. The dumpling appetizer was good, maybe a little under-seasoned. OTOH the cabbage accompanying it was really great, with lots of caraway seed and sharp/acidic dressing to counteract the rich dumpling. If you're looking for a German/Austrian meal in an unpretentious environment, this will do the trick.
We were so full after fondue appetizer and entrée we decided not to eat dessert but the waiter brought us a piece of cake with a birthday candle in it because he knew from my reservation that it was a birthday celebration. That was Thoughtful.
The fondue did not disappoint!!!
Fun backyard experience with wonderful Austrian alps decor. Great fondues!!!
Amazing food, wine, service and ambience, my favorite place to eat on the UES.
The restaurant was super cool. Love a good Christmas/Austrian theme. However the staff was not the nicest. The moment we walked in, we felt very rushed by the staff. We understood that there’s a two-hour limit but there was no courtesy.
Great food and such a fun ambiance. Mohammed was an excellent server who handled the whole restaurant during a wild storm and managed to keep everyone happy and having a blast.
Hard to locate even the sign is outside. Head down stairs!
Food good and atmosphere different. Pricey.
disappointing - good service but food was really weak and uninspired
Hidden gem! Such a fun experience!
Such a great spot for a cozy dinner! It’s technically an outdoor spot but it’s covered and has great heaters for the winter. Authentic Austrian food that will make your mouth water! We ordered the bacon wrapped pork loin with mushroom fettuccine, a beef goulash soup appetizer and my husband ordered the veal schnitzel. We finished dinner off with the Red Glühwein warm drink. Delicious! We will definitely return the next time we are in the city.
It reminded us of our trip to Austria!
After we declined alcohol for our table we were never offered anything to drink! Not even Water? Once our food was brought to the table, the wait staff never came back to check on us. I had to physically get up and go over to the waitress to request Water for our table. Very disappointed…
Cute tucked away spot, festively decorated. Food was underwhelming. Staff was nice, friendly, polite however not helpful in providing menu recommendations, for example, indicating popular drink/dish, a staff favorite, or a staple in the cultural cuisine.
Such an amazing spot! The food was delicious and the portions were really generous. The atmosphere was really unique and cool, the outdoor heated area was awesome. We will definitely go back!!
Great wine selection. Everything we ordered was fantastic.
The fondue was great fun in a super seasonal atmosphere. It was a little hilarious to be in such an alpine shack when it was almost 70 degrees out, but a great experience overall. Will only be improved by more wintry weather.
The ambiance, service, and price point were perfect. Thanks for the good time!
An excellent blend of authentic Austrian dishes and wines at good price. The ambiance is rustic and easy on the eye. The restaurant is hiding in plain sight and is wonderful. Can't wait to go back.
An absolutely fantastic Fondue night with friends! The decorations are fun, the food was fantastic and the service (including wine recommendations) was unbeatable.
The setting is interesting and full of character, except for the awful rock music which is too loud. The food is less than mediocre compared with what I had on my last trip to Vienna.
Loved it! Can’t wait to return!!
Fondue is delicious, ambiance is top notch. No problems with the service, good music.
Great service. Food was great! Surprised not more busy but it was Sunday evening. Will definitely come back!
A pricey disappointment. The “open garden” is now a claustrophobic and dark space with little to no charm. There is no service and the food is fair to good. A potential hidden “Oktoberfest” on the upper east side fails to be welcoming, comfortable, or impressive. Stick with the streetside window for the best of this location.
Not quite as advertised, so in that sense am disappointed. I was expecting more of the “experience” than just food. No live music, service good, most of the good quite good, but nothing to make a destination again.
We where disappointed there was only one Pork Shank available. The patrons before us got the last one. I was annoyed when I seen the Pork Shank was still on my bill.
