bombay grill house
thank you for visiting us
Great host and good food
We were visiting NYC over the Presidents’ Day weekend (February 2020), and read the OT reviews for the Bombay Grill House. Relying on the reviews we chose it over all the many choices for Indian fare for an evening family dinner.
It exceeded all the reviews!! Excellent authentic Indian food, great and varied menu, wonderful and attentive staff.
Who we believe was the Owner stopped by our table twice to make sure we were satisfied and enjoying our dinner.
Great food and service
Attentive staff and good food. Portions were great
Excellent food, smaller seating and we found the ambiance very good for conversation. A very good selection of both non- and vegetarian selection, ample servings, and a great waitstaff. Good Happy Hour selection and wine/beers (no spirits).
Delicious food and reasonably priced! So delighted with this restaurant.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere. We went on a Monday night at 5:00. It wasn’t busy. The waiters were very kind and attentive!
Very good food, good service and friendly. Would definitely go again when in NY
The chicken tikka masala was very dry. The sauce was good but the chicken itself was incredibly dry. Maybe it had been warmed up a few times or had been cooked earlier and heated all day. Not sure. Everything else was great so I'd love to give a better review but that's the truth.
Excellent food! Attentive service will definitely return soon.

Pleasant dining experience for good food/conversation...
Parking in Hell’s Kitchen was metered on W 53rd
Tandoori chicken wings and shrimp were great. Disappointed with Korma Chicken. Meat was dry and flavor of sauce was bland.
Food was traditional; served us decent amount. Tasted real good. The big issue for our table was that it was way too hot in the restaurant. Made it uncomfortable to 100% enjoy the experience.
I had ordered a dish that was unexpectantly spicy and they took it back and gave me another very quickly. The entree was delicious, flavorful and a good value. Also they gave us a complimentary dessert.
The wine and the appetizer were also very good. I will return.
Nothing fancy, but delicious food. The shrimp curry and the ginger dal were outstanding.
Very nice restaurant not far from Times Square on 9 Ave. food is very nice and prices are affordable compared to the average prices in NY. I was happy with the meal and would recommend this place to friends.
Out of a huge choice of dishes, our appetizers and main dish were very tasty and served in large portions. For our taste they were OK regarding the level of hot spices, others may find them too mild. Dessert was offered. The staff was friendly and efficient, the prices more than reasonable.
Amazing food and service definitely highly recommend. Only thing I wasn't happy with it was I found it on my last night in New York. Definitely would have been there more than one time if i had discovered it earlier....
I would only recommend this restaurant if you like very spicy food! Asked for a recommendation for a mild lamb dish and it was so spicy I had to return it. Another waiter came over and said our waitress was new and recommended the korma as the least spicy dish on the menu (delicious but still spicier than I prefer). The eggplant appetizer was delicious but sauce was also very spicy!
We had dinner here on our recent trip to NYC. The food and service were wonderful. We will definitely return.
Overall the food is ok. Some dishes(like the lamb boti kebab) are great while others(lamb biriyani and pakoras) are mediocre. The main issue with this restaurant is the service. Everything takes forever. It took about 50 minutes for us to get the appetizers. In most cases, you can't get a waiter to come over to the table.
Nice little place, a lot of food for the money. The waitress was very nice!
Tasty, inexpensive food. Lots of vegetarian options but also many others. Good for having a conversation.
Very good Indian food in a warm friendly environment with good service and friendly staff.
Good choices for non meat eaters. Good fresh food In a comfortable place. Chicken tandoori delicious.
Only thing no desserts or hot drinks without milk.
Cheap Indian joint on nineth avenue. Very reasonable price for the location. Tandoori chicken is good choice. Service very quick.
Great service and food!
Excelente food, waiters can’t be kinder , price VERY low for quality and variety. Very recomendable
We were visiting NYC for a couple days of theater, dining and walking. I decided an Indian meal post theater would be fun & I looked for one we could walk to from the theater district. It was an easy walk into Hells Kitchen which was not a place one would want to go 20 or 30 years ago. Now it is a lively neighborhood with plenty of people on the streets even at 11:30 pm and full of mid-range & inexpensive restaurants of all sorts. We were eating light & had only the chicken tikka & a curry dish with as much rice as we wanted plus nan & was more than enough for 2. And it was some of the best Indian food we’ve ever eaten and we’ve eaten it often for many many years. The staff were all charming and efficient and we had a nice glass of wine as well. All in all an excellent choice & we’d gladly return.
A local favorite. Very friendly and welcoming staff plus great food and value
Great dinner. Attentive service.
Very well prepared food. Visiting NYC for a conference, and love to find local ethnic food.
Lovely ambiance and great service. Prices reasonable for the high standard of food. Ideal place for a pre-theatre meal!
Good Indian food, with some creative touches. I enjoyed the baby corn appetizer.
Dined with my wife on New Years Eve. A good restaurant with typical Indian dishes cooked in a tasteful way. This restaurant has take-away service and there was a constant flow of deliveries out from the restaurant all the time we were at the location. This is a good sign of the quality of the food. I will definitely dine there again if I visit New York and want Indian food.
Fantastic! The food was delicious. The staff recommended some dishes which were delicious and different curries from curries I've tried in the past. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They have us an extra glass of wine just because we were having fun... I'll definitely be coming back.
Overall great experience, especially the service. The servers kept our water refilled constantly, but unobtrusively (which is difficult to do).
Excellent food, friendly service. Great value!
Overall, a great meal and really good service with a smile!
