Bonaparte Ratings and Reviews
Engagement dinner with my fiancé .... excellent service
Beautiful setting (if you can, ask for a window table) and impeccable service.
I had the smoked salmon starter. Crisp, clean, smoky and nice texture. My date had the game terrine and would have liked the flavour to have been slightly more “gamey”. She had the duck confit for a main and it was sensational. Tender, rich and filling. I had the seafood pasta, which was beautifully prepared and presented. The fish was perfectly cooked and the sauce was tasty but not too rich and creamy.
We had a wonderful meal. The tasting menu was great, portions were much larger than we expected. Soufflé for dessert... need I say more.
Our server Jason was outstanding, offered great suggestions and impeccable service.
We would recommend this restaurant to everyone and will return on our next trip to Montreal.
Overall very good. Food was fantastic. Service was excellent and tolerant for a couple late guests in the party. Quaint location in Old Montreal. Indoor decor matched the neighbourhood the restaurant resides - stylish classic. The only negative was the location of our table which appeared a temp location to accommodate additional patrons - by the bar at the entrance. This made for some tight quarters for those patrons sitting in more permanent locations. For this the excellent points was over shadowed by this negative.
Excellent food, elegant interior, polite servers, definitely a place to recommend. We came with a baby and found that the booster seat they gave us may be from the times of Napoleon as well (no fixation on the chair).
We were visiting Montreal for my birthday and were excited to try this restaurant because of all the great reviews. It truly lived up to all the great reviews. The staff was attentive and helpful and very friendly. We were seated at a window table. We ordered the mushroom ravioli which was the best we ever had. The rack of lamb and the filet were top notch. But the highlight was the Grand Marnier Souffle for dessert. For a special occasion this is the place to go.
Food and presentation were outstanding. Fixed price menu attractively priced but filet mignon excellent also. Decor somewhat spartan except for chandeliers.
Belle découverte que le Bonaparte. Le service est impeccable, le menu dégustation était à la hauteur des attentes. Je croyais, à tort, une autre adresse « attrape-touristes », mais non!!
A lovely evening... good food, great ambiance ... a wonderful introduction to old Montreal!
Sevice was superb, as was the food. Shout out to Jason (waiter). Excellent experience.
Two or three times a year my wife and I make the trip from Ottawa to Le Bonaparte. We are drawn, not only by the restaurant's friendly atmosphere, by the exquisite service but mostly by incomparable food prepared by chefs who understand how tastes should blend while piquing the palate with interesting flavours. Personally, I am drawn to the game terrine which I consider almost addictive.
What an enjoyable evening. The menu was varied ,interesting but not too exotic, well prepared.
The service was efficient and pleasant. It was a remarkable dinner. When I return to Montreal I will return again .
Excellent food, we were seated by the window and had a great view of Old Montreal. We both had the tasting menu which was amazing.
Bis is an outstanding restaurant in every sense of the definition. The food, service and ambiance were all spot on.
It is a nice, classic restaurant that I have not been to for years. I was surprised that the theatre menu was not different from what I recall. I find the food a tad overpriced compared to other Montreal restaurants. Service, however is impeccable.
Very nice for a special occasion.
BESt Restaurant experience we had in our trip to Montreal.
Lobster was excellent. Wine selection. Service quality was so special and appropriate.
A gem in Montreal
Finding this restaurant made our visit to Montreal - Totally perfect and the tasting menu was just the icing on the cake - thank you so much
Wish I could eat there every day. Had the fixed price lunch menu. Nice variety. Everything was wonderful. Beautifully presented and delicious. The Service was attentive without being smothering. Just a perfect meal. Do not skip dessert or coffee. My new favorite restaurant.
We had a wonderful dinner celebrating our honeymoon. We tried the tasting menu and everything was amazing. Beautiful place and great service. Truly made us feel special.
Awesome experience, great food and service. We will go back!
Bonaparte offers you an elegant and authentic French dining experience without the pretense. The wait staff are attentive and accommodating, and try not hover or intrude. All of this in addition to tasty and delicious classic French food. My husband and I have eaten there several times, and we always adore our e perience.
Our first time going to Bonaparte’s for dinner and we were very impressed. The service is exceptional, the ambiance is elegant and the food is very good. We had the house specialty Mushroom Ravioli as an appetizer and it was the tastiest part of the dinner. My husband had the roast pork and I had the beef with a peppercorn sauce as the main course, both very good. The plating is beautiful and the plates are served hot which is always a nice touch. Would certainly recommend Bonaparte’s for dinner.
While the food was respectable, we were not wowed by the experience. We visited
Montreal on vacation and were hoping for a memorable meal at a top of the line restaurant. No complaints but does not stand out as one of our memorable meals. Perhaps the establishment is currently resting on its laurels.
Great food, wonderful service and the atmosphere was perfect!
Superbe resto, service exceptionnelle et nourriture fraiche et délicieuse.
Our first dinner in Montreal EVER. What acway to start! The service by Frederich(sp?) was superb. I have not had such attentive service sine my First Anniversary dinner at The Savoy in London 26 years ago! The food was excellent. My sea bass will be difficult to beat going forward. Our Chablis was a perfect match and we appreciated the advice of our server!
A great experience for French cuisine lovers. The best service and a very classy ambiance for any special occasion. 5 starts.
We enjoyed excellent, very pleasant service. The food was very good - we were there on restaurant week and had the prix fixe menu. My lamb was wonderful.
Bonaparte used to be my favorite French restaurant , however, the most recent visit with the Visitez Montreal spécial menu , i was very disappointed with the quality of the food. We ordered duck breast and seafood pasta as the main dishes, you can’t choose how the duck cook, they only serve with medium, it seemed it had been prepared early in advance because of the busy special menu. The pasta was too soft and the quality of the seafood were so bad. I believed that because of the busy special menu they have to prepare stuffs early in advance and use cheaper quality ingredients. Very disappointed, it ruined its reputations
Have dined many times over the years when I’m in town. This was a mediocre meal compared to what I’ve had in the past. It was the winterlishious menu(Toronto lingo). Maybe just an off night.
Great as always, have not ever been dissapointed! The food is excellent, the service is great, the decor is elegant and nice, not loud.
We were visiting Montreal from Chicago and very excited to try French food there. We were really disappointed overall. We didn't get to order a drink for 25 minutes, and didn't get a drink until we had been there for 45 minutes. We ordered the tasting menu. The salad was really good, the lobster bisque was very average. My girlfriend ordered the lamb and found the of the meat to be inedible. My fillet was very under-cooked and under-seasoned. The apple souffle and old fashioned's were delightful. Overall, we didn't get what we were looking for, for that kind of money.
Great meal..... we love this place. Excellent food and service in Old Montreal.
Thanks for a great night!
Beau restaurant, bel accueil et bon service. Le repas était bon mais pas exceptionnel, présentation correcte.
Avons été pour la première fois dans ce resto dans le cadre de Montréal à table. Excellent service et plat de première qualité. Stationnement tous près.
Excellent restaurant. Une découverte à Montréal. Réellement à essayer.
We loved everything about our experience at Bonaparte’s. The food, service, and ambiance totally lived up to our expectations.
