Great foie gras and duck confit. Nice atmosphere for a date or formal evening
Amazing food and amazing service, never a disappointment, every time we come to Montreal this is our go to restaurant
We had the tasting menu with the wine pairings. The choices of wines really complemented the food. My favourites were the duck foie gras crème brûlée and and the rabbit confit.
Amazing food and great service, Martin the manager is always super accommodating, sad that Catherine is not there anymore
Excellent French cuisine. Worth the price. Great experience and something different.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Bonaparte. The food was so creative and delicious. I would never have thought to combine lobster with vanilla, but it was divine. The service was delightful!
First time back since 2019 due to COVID. We were SO happy to come back as we have been coming here several times annually since 2002, on our many trips to Montreal. The food and service were perfect per usual. Two of the three of us had the tasting menu which is a family favorite. Ambiance was negatively impacted by two very loud parties near us-nothing the restaurant could control but perhaps seating so many parties close together at the same time is something that could be avoided? The space is quite large but it seemed everyone in our area was on our same schedule.
We very much enjoyed the delicious six-course tasting menu, which offered sufficient variety to satisfy diverse preferences. Our waiter was very congenial and the space was quite lovely. I would highly recommend this restaurant for both the cuisine and the ambience!
very gracious staff. Tasty and well presented food. Lovely setting.
Will definitely come again some time😊
This is a lovely high quality gourmet restaurant, with a parking lot right next to it.
The food is excellent: lovely sauces and unusual blends of tastes, all in French cuisine.
The service: remarkable, waiters and Maitre Di welcome you with enthusiasm and remember you when you return.
For a real treat ignore the high price and enjoy a memorable meal and a lovely ambiance.
Lot of noise but its not on your fault!
Food was perfect!
had a tremendous meal at Bonaparte. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the service was excellent.
Super bon , service exceptionnel
Je le recommande à tous
Toute l’équipe vous fait sentir être la bienvenue. Nourriture et service impeccable! Un must a aller au moins une fois !
It was an amazing French cuisine experience, love love that place.
my one of the favorite restaurants in Montreal. Highly recommend it to anyone. From the food to the service, everything is perfect.
Do NOT go here unless you want to be embarrassed. The food is sub par and they do nothing for special occasions. It’s a complete joke. Go anywhere else before here.
Seating & Service were superb! Ambiance was sensational!
Wonderful food an ambiance, service was somewhat slow but pleasant and excellent wine recommendations
The tasting menu with wine pairings is the way to experience all the fabulous foods and wines
Food was average - service was very slow
Le menu de dégustation avec vin est cher, mais très bon. On a énormément apprécié les attentions de Geneviève .
Absolutely lovely restaurant. We did the tasting menu. Service was exceptional reminded me of our trips to Europe where the staff really care about the patrons. Would highly recommend.
Great service and ambiance and would recommend ....had the tasting menu and food was 4 of 5
My husband and I were celebrating a big wedding anniversary. We chose the menu de dégustation. It was fantastic. We also splurged and did the wine parings. The food was elegant and delicious with enough choices to meet our differing tastes. It was fun to try new and different wines. The service was friendly, attentive and not intrusive. Definitely a once in many years splurge.
Once again, celebrated a special anniversary at the Bonaparte in Old Montreal. The ambiance is warm and inviting, the quality of food and presentation of each dish was superb and the service was excellent! In fact, the entire staff is friendly and efficient. Can't wait to go back!
The mushroom ravioli was absolutely divine! The foil gras was delicious! Everything was presented so beautifully and our server Matt was wonderful!
My friend and I enjoyed an absolutely wonderful dining experience and this intimate and beautiful weekend. We booked a last minute table on a busy Saturday night and they made room for us at the bar. To our delight the bar tender entertained us with his expertise at making an assortment of cocktails and he was attentive and professional. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was enjoying dinner at the bar as well and he went out of his way to make our dining experience special and memorable. We were offered wonderful wine and cocktail tasting, the food was absolutely amazing and the ambiance was mellow and special. This is truly and special place to enjoy the best food in Montreal and the service was hands down outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone that is looking for a special night out in Old Montreal. I will definitely be back!!!
The tasting menu -- one of the best meals I've ever had!
One of the best meals we can recall ever having. The chef certainly knows what he is doing back there with the flavor combinations. Our server was very knowledgeable and courteous. He allowed us to take our time, we never felt rushed. Everything about the experience was incredible from start to finish.
Located in Old Montreal, perhaps this restaurant attracts tourists, some (or perhaps many) with little experience of what a culinary experience can be. The food may be good enough to satisfy this group of people. The service is efficient. And it looks and maybe feels sort of fancy. But the food falls short. Considerably so. The food is far from being imaginative, far from being interesting, and very far from being memorable. The wine pairing is ok, but again, far from being memorable. Glad I went, and will not back. Nor would I recommend. Fortunately, there are much much better restaurants in Montreal, even for a lower price.
Family get together
Did the wine pairing meal
Wine paired well with food selection
Great food, great service, excellent atmosphere, however the price is a little steep.
Thank you Very much .
Exellent food and staf .
If you desire an exceptional dining experience, do not pass up an evening at Bonaparte. Budget a healthy allocation of time , and prepare to experience phenomenal culinary flavours for the first time. Service was meticulous; Matthieu might be the best in the business. This is dining as you’ve heard about but yet to experience.
The meal was absolutely amazing. Each dish was perfect and the presentation was elegant. Service was outstanding and we will definitely return to this restaurant on our next trip to Montreal.
Went there on Sunday, Oct 31st. Had a chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. Absolutely incredible.
Service was impacable. Forgot the server's name but he was very knowledgeable when it comes to wine explanation and very pleasant as a person. The menu was great, my favorites are the rabbit in a phyllo pastry and a tarragon sorbet but everything else was above and beyond. Had lobster bisque, smoked salmon, and a duck breast.
Wine pairings were spot on. One of my favorite wine regions is definitely the Loire valley therefore I enjoyed Sancerre very much but when the red wine came with the rabbit dish it was on another level. And of course, I forgot the name of it. SMH
Tarragon sorbet was a complete surprise in a very positive way. Duck breast in a maple and berry sauce and a carrot purree was an absolute hero.
And I can write and write but I forgot the menu in the restaurant and I got a little bit drunk so I don't really remember every single wine I tasted, unfortunately.
However, compliments to the chef and entire kitchen team as well as the service staff.
You made my day special and will be definitely coming back. Keep up the great work.
Classic onion soup and filet mignon hit the spot. Great taste and presentation.
Food and service were excellent. The mushroom ravioli definitely deserves its reputation. The entrees were beautiful - we had the scallops and the salmon. The pear sorbet was incredible and the apple pie one of the best I've had. We will definitely return. My second favorite restaurant in Montreal after Damas.
