the Napoleonic era give the restaurant the intimate character
that guests treasure. An exquisite cuisine, prepared with French savoir-faire
and showcasing the finest fresh regional products.
Dinner : 7 nights, 5h30 pm to 10h30 pm
L'Impératrice, for groups from 26 to 40 persons.
My wife and I visited the restaurant for the first time in June and decided to return due to the excellent food and service. Nothing had changed since the first visit. Great food, good service. My only issue was that it was my wife’s birthday a few days ago and I had specifically asked for a candle on her desert, which the restaurant often does brilliantly. No candle came, even after I spoke to someone when we arrived. That was disappointing.
This is a very nice, professionally managed restaurant. We would never have chosen a Saturday evening to dine, but a birthday required.it.. Good food, slow but cheery service, overall good experience. They do a good job, all the details correct, highly recommended on any other night.
Catherine, basically, made our night. Don’t let her get away; she’s a “keeper”!
Incredible dining experience! Service was impeccable! Must do the tasting menu!
Lunch. Service was attentive without pressure. Pork tenderloin & sauce excellent. A reason to dine in Montreal
A gem where the service was impeccable. We picked a very booked evening to visit and the atmosphere got a little loud for us. But the French food was great and we enjoyed the Old Town neighborhood.
Dinner at Bonaparte was more than a meal. It was a wonderful experience. The ambience and service was only exceeded by the fabulous menu selections. Highly recommend.
We were exceptionally pleased with the quality of the food. It is traditional French cuisine but prepared very well. It is also a nice quiet restaurant with plenty of room between tables to make conversation easy.
Truly one of finest meals we have had. Everything about the place and the food was outstanding
I visit Montréal a couple times a year and always make it a point to dine here. Excellent food and superb service. A special shout out to my waitress Nadia. She was friendly, charming and recommended an amazing bottle of wine to go with my dinner.
Mediocre food. Appointing.
Loved this place! Food and service was outstanding. I’d be a regular if I lived nearby!
We were very impressed with Bonaparte service and food. Our server Catherine was one of the best and knowledgeable server we had so far. We would definitely go back and tell our families and friends to go. Your restaurant is a 5 stars restaurants for the looks, taste, wine list, simply the best.
Suzanne, Diane and Theresa
Délicieux et service impeccable. Ambiance chaleureuse et personnel très courtois et professionnel. Ceci dit je ne suis pas une habituée de grands restaurants gastronomiques donc je ne peux comparer avec d'autres restaurants du genre.
Excellent service from start to finish. Good wine selection including some good Champagne by the glass.
Samuel - our server - was excellent once again - remembered me from my visit in May! Food - simply outstanding.
La qualité est excellente. Le prix un peu élevé. Les portions sont trop petites pour de bons appétits.
The restaurant offered a wonderful combination of well prepared food, good selection and excellent service. Our waiter Matt could not have been more accommodating! Beautiful restaurant in old Montreal!
Probably the best meal of the century!
The food is super good! We took the tastings menu and the portions of everything plate was perfect! The people’s that’s working there’re really friendly and kind! Will definitely go back :)
The restaurant is lovely with excellent service. All of the servers were attentive at all times. The food was delicious, although not the best we had in Montreal. We tried the Nordic Shrimp, which was tasty, but a little heavy on the cilantro. It is also served cold, for those the prefer warm shrimp. I had the beef filet in wine sauce and my wife tried the venison medallions. We were both happy with the main course. You should definitely expect the check to be on the high side. However, for a once in a while dinner, it was well worth it.
Fantastic restaurant!! Definitely world class. I’ve travelled many parts of the world and have eaten at many 5 star restaurants and Bonaparte’s is definitely among my top 5.
This was a great place for a special occasion. The service was polite and professional. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever visited.
The server Catherine is a gem. Super friendly and very knowledgeable about wine. Ask her about the Quebec wines! They’re worth a taste.
We are real foodies and thought this restaurant was one of the top 5 we’ve ever been to.
Elegant dining room and attentive service. A bit pricey but wonderful for special occasions. Good food selection and everything was delicious.
Since we were in the neighborhood, showed up two hours earlier than our scheduled seating to see if we could get a table. Nothing was available for 7 PM on OpenTable when we booked. The manager was very gracious and said he did have one table for two available, so off we went. The place started to fill up immediately after we got seated, so I guess OpenTable was right. Anyway, my wife and I both opted for the $84 CAD prix fixe dinner which included three apps, entrée, and dessert. We each had a glass of wine. The apps were house salad, shrimp and scallops, escargot, lobster (hint of ginger) bisque, smoked salmon and foie gras crème brulee. All were excellent in every way. Entrees of dover sole and filet mignon were also excellent as well as the symphony of desserts. Bonaparte is everything you would expect from a fine French restaurant, from ambience and service to wonderful food. Maybe coming from New York City and being used to paying high prices for mediocre dining experiences, we felt Bonaparte was a bargain for the great experience we just had. Hopefully, they won't raise their prices but we will definitely be back.
Special night out and Bonaparte met all our expectations. Highly recommend.
Exceptional! Food flavors melt together. Staff very attentive. Thank you for a wonderful celebration.
I had the six course tasting menu. One of the best meals I have had in years.
Visiting Montreal for weekend away, fabulous find!
My husband and I really enjoyed our meal especially as it featured local produce in season. Would recommend for a lovely and quiet evening!
Honestly was very disappointed in this tasting menu and wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, as the price you pay doesn't match the quality.
1. Lobster bisque - needed more flavor, and was grainy
2. House made smoked salmon - was really tasty
3. Mushroom ravioli - pretty good, but needed more seasoning in both the pasta and sauce
4. Pear sorbet - nice touch and unique
5. Scallops - the dish that I was looking forward to the most, was over cooked.
6. Cheesecake, chocolate crunch cake, Raspberry
mousse and creme brulee - all very delicious
We've been to Bonaparte many times.
It is always outstanding!
We loved our evening at Bonaparte. I would make the 6 hour drive to Quebec for their duck confeit alone. This is an upscale restaurant with a menu that offers a nice variety of choices, as well as a tasting menu. Cocktails are well made and the wine list is extensive. Our waiter, Jason, was wonderful. He was helpful, attentive and very pleasant to talk with. If you are in Quebec and are looking for a special dining experience, I highly recommend an evening at Bonaparte.
Thought it might be a little stuffy but the staff was uniformly friendly, efficient and helpful. The food and wine were excellent. I only gave 4 stars for value but really that was MY fault getting carried away and ordering champagne... The creme brûlée foie gras appetizer was as amazing as everyone said...
The entire evening was memorable, but especially our waitress. As I told her, I spent much of my career in the tourism industry, and I have never experienced a more professional, courteous, accommodating waiter or waitress. She made our evening.
Proper place for a nice dinner with my wife and I.
First off the bartender made one of the best Cosmos ever. For dinner the mushroom ravioli was perfect, escargot app was fair at best. We had the lobster special and the Dover sole for dinner and both were very good. Excellent service. Worth the money.
Anniversary dinner! The bartender, server and others were wonderful!
A must dining experience when visiting Old Montréal
