the Napoleonic era give the restaurant the intimate character
that guests treasure. An exquisite cuisine, prepared with French savoir-faire
and showcasing the finest fresh regional products.
Absolutely fantastic classic French cuisine. Recommended for anyone looking for a memorable meal.
I am without words. :-) Everything I ate was wonderful. The chef should be very proud.
Beautiful location. Tasting menu is a real bargain. Good traditional cuisine. Excellent service staff.
Outstanding dining experience, start to soufflé finish!
Great meal with great service. Very very nice atmosphere.
Just wonderful. For a restaurant to have been in business this long and still so obviously care about the beauty of the restaurant, the quality of service, the creativity of the food and the quality of preparation speaks volumes. My wife and I wanted one really nice dinner in Montreal and Bonaparte delivered and then some. It's traditional French at heart but definitely not mailing it in--there were interesting touches and ideas in each course.
Outstanding in every way! Our server, Catherine was so pleasant, interactive, and engaging. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Excellent service and top notch food
Best meal I’ve had in years. Everything was amazing. Highly recommend.
Très agréable moment, cuisine très bonne et serveurs très sympathiques. Le cadre est bien aussi.
Most of our selections were extremely well prepared and delicious. The one exception was the Dover sole which was unevenly cooked and underwhelming. The restaurant is beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The only other disappointment was the fact that the restaurant made no effort to recognize the very special occasion we were celebrating despite being informed in advance. C’est la vie!
One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've ever had. The service, the food and drink, and the ambiance all 5 stars. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent! The mushroom ravioli was unbelievable.
Our (5 star) server told us it is rumored that people wake up in the middle of the night dreaming about these jewels. I think she is correct.
Fantastic quality and good service without being overbearing or snobby.
Great service! Thank you!
This is a charming restaurant in Old Montreal. Three of our table if four had the 6-course tasting menu consisting of their signature dishes from the al la carters menu. Each course was yummy. Fav was the mushroom ravioli. The pasta was so delicate and the filling had great flavors. Least fav was the lobster bisque which was still good, just not prepared different to my expectation. Dessert was a sampling of delicacies. The fourth in our group ordered al la carters. Frankly, his meal cost about the same as the tasting menu and portions were not significantly larger. I suggest going with the tasting menu. We did not have the souffle for dessert but the table next to us did. Looked amazing and was shared by three people.
Only criticism is the long wait between courses and our waiter relied too much on the support staff to check in with us to keep water glasses filled, etc. Prepare for fine dining for 3 hours. Certainly this factor will not keep us away when we return to Montreal. Highly recommend.
Food was under par for what I was expecting. Otherwise I would have given a 4 stars.
The elegance and class of bonaparte was surreal, amazing service, the resturaunt was in perstein condition and the food was something I will never forget. If you're looking for fine dining, this is the place. Ordered the tasting menu and every dish was knocked outta the park, through the course of the menu the dishes kept getting more and more rich in flavour and filled me with nostalgia along the way. Want to thank the staff and chefs for a truly unforgettable dining experience.
If you’re a tourist in Old Montréal, and want French food, this is a good place to go. Food is better than a few other restaurants I’ve tried in Old Montréal. But a few things to note:
- the place is smaller than the online pictures suggest, the decor is just so so.
- since the place is small, it’s very noisy.
- service is fine, but food takes a long time to come.
- food is nice but very pricey for what you get. $50 for a rack of lamb that’s a very small portion. The duck breast is quite delicious for $40. They also have s tasting menu for $90.
My wife and I were not disappointed but were not thrilled either.
I went here for as a special occasion dinner with my boyfriend. The food was amazing and our waiter recommended a lovely bottle of wine that complimented both our dishes. We will definitely be back.
It was the best meal I ever ate. It sure was'nt cheap, but honnestly worth every penny. I highly recommand the degustation menu, 5 plates each better then the last, a perfect balance between each flavor. Service was perfect. If you are looking for a beautiful evening in a charming place decorate with drawings and painting about the Emperor Napoleon with the best food you'll ever have eaten, don't hesitate!
A splendid evening for a special occasion. The food was classic and expertly prepared. The service was exceptionally warm, attentive, and professional. The wine list is wide ranging and thoughtful though not enormous, largely French with significant bottles for those with very deep pockets. Highly recommended.
Our waiter was excellent and the food was delicious. The presentation of each dish was lovely. I would particularly mention the excellent sauces on each dish. This is not a budget dinner, but a great place for a splurged
Superb service. Food that nourishes the soul.
Amazing ambiance, amazing service and even more amazing food. I did the 6-course pre fix dinner and every course was better than the one before it. Mark at the bar gave us incredible service.
The tasting menu is so amazing!
We enjoyed Bonaparte immensely. We each had the larger of the two prix fixe tasting menus. The food was very, very good and the server was attentive. Perhaps the only small blemish on the evening was that there might have been just a bit too long between courses. But that was only a small issue in what was otherwise a very nice evening and meal. Will look forward to returning when we are next in Montreal.
Excellent food and service
What a wonderful dinner. I picked the restaurant off of a website. Wanted French In Old Montreal. It was great. We were meeting long lost friends from California and their hotel was nearby. The staff did everything to make us feel welcome and the food was really good. Everyone had a great time
Really enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance..restaurant very busy on a monday night..
Food was delicious, great selection of wonderful wines & our waiter Maxim was charming, professional & so helpful about selections. Would highly recommend & wish I could stay long enough to eat there again!
Amazing tasting meal. Attentive service. Excellent price quality ratio.
My 6 course meal was perfect! My husbands Seafood linguini tasted mostly like fish - not lobster sauce. Which is what he hoped for.
Best old fashioned we’ve ever had! Made with maple syrup instead of simple syrup and a cinnamon bitters. Husband loved his steak tartare. My salmon was unfortunately over cooked.
Were seated a affine table. Waiter and assistant both accommodating and most helpful - with both wine and food selection.
Have not been there in several years and was glad to see that is still excellent. in my mind, one of the best restaurants in Montreal
This was a fantastic meal and I would strongly recommend it to everyone.
Excellente nourriture de facture classique. Service impeccable.
