the Napoleonic era give the restaurant the intimate character
that guests treasure. An exquisite cuisine, prepared with French savoir-faire
and showcasing the finest fresh regional products.
Great dining experience while on vacation in Montreal. Everything tasted fantastic and the service was excellent.
Food was uniformly excellent. Lobster bisque was good not great. Surprisingly so was the duck breast which was a little tough despite being properly cooked to medium rare. Mushroom ravioli was stellar - probably the best item I had amongst a half dozen great meals this trip. Wonderful service - starting with the maitre d greeting me by name even though this was my first visit.
French cuisine at it’s best. Unhurried dining experience where all courses are tasty and well plated. Service was always there at just the moment needed.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Bonaparte. We both had the 6 course tasting meal, with different choices between us. The food was excellent. The entire experience is with having, the staff were all professional, knowledgeable and relaxed- even when they are packed and busy with patrons. It was our first time in Montreal, but we will definitely book another table at Bonaparte on our next visit. Excellent wine list, but I opted for a cocktail instead, it was constructed perfectly (I am a cocktail old fashioned snob).
Great food and service in a lovely atmosphere.
Fantastic food and friendly, professional service. We love Bonaparte!
I'd give more than 5 stars if I could! We came here to celebrate my graduation from grad school and it was wonderful. The service was probably the best I've ever had, and the food was sublime. Un mille mercis!
It was a very classy restaurant with delicious food and cocktails the waiters were so helpful and very nice I would highly recommend it and we plan on going back when we return to Montreal
The food exceeded all of our expectations. We did the 6 course tasting menu and everything was superbly prepared. Specially the mushroom ravioli. That was the best. Highly reccomend it. The only thing we wish is that they would do a wine pairing option with the tasting
This is a very traditional French restaurant with lovely decor, quiet tables and very nice French cuisine. Our server was very nice and accommodating. The appetizer came out on time, but we had to wait for our main course for about one-half hour. This was not the fault of the waiter as he apologized several times. The food, however, when served, was delicious and beautifully plated. Since this was my first time there, should I go back to Montreal, I would probably give this restaurant another try as the food was excellent.
We had the menu degustation and all the courses were good.
FOie grad maybe the best
Escargot maybe least favorite
Kid royale on expensive side at 25$
Would go back
Service and food were excellent, highly recommend Bonaparte!
The food was delicious and, as many have mentioned, service was outstanding...professional without snobbishness. Not avant-guarde, just traditional french done well!
The IDEA was good. The actual experience was quite unimpressive. The mushroom ravioli in sage sauce was the only excellent dish we were served. Great service and upscale ambiance.
What a great and polished restaurant experience, well worth giving up one of your nights out to eat here. We ate the tasting menu and it was amazing, lobster bisque followed by one of the best fois gras I have had, exceptional scallop and the lamb main course just about finished it off.
My wife had the souffle which was big enough for 2 and my assortment of deserts was good, but felt it would be better if they just concentrated on one dish - rather than trying to make 3 or 4.
Value for money is exceptional, we told them to put their prices up - this is worth $110 of anybody who is a food lovers money...
Long live the revolution, long live Boneparte!
Fantastic all around. Could not ask for anything more.
Beautiful restaurant with excellent service! However the food was unimpressive maybe because I had the pre fix menu. The lobster bisque was not creamy and pink, the goat cheese philo dough was missing honey to incorporate it with the walnuts, the shrimp had no flavor, the scallop was excellent, the pear and tarragon sorbet was amazingly delicious, the filet mignon had no flavor and was paired with whole peppercorns and a sauce( crunchy but overwhelmingly peppery), the desert was perfect (delicious creme brûlée, creamy chocolate mousse, cheesecake and the sauce was heavenly. Next time I’ll probably order “a la carte”.
It was only loud because a large birthday party was there which was a bit disruptive. Otherwise, food was amazing, service was great. I had a lovely time.
Great food and service.
Great food, beautiful decor and outstanding service!
Would not recommend Bonaparte if you are trying to have a nice romantic dinner. It was very noisy, had a hard time to hear each other talk.
We went there for our anniversary and was expecting a nice quiet dinner. I asked for a quiet table but did not get it.
The food was excellent.
My husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at restaurant Bonaparte – it was outstanding in every way! Our adult children, and we, ourselves, are still raving about the experience: the food, the service, the staff, the ambience- all deserve the highest praise...
and our most sincere gratitude for making our most special day even more special and memorable!
( In fact, our entire family spent 5 nights at Hotel Bonaparte, enjoyed daily breakfasts (same consistent quality and service) A+ in every way!
When traveling to old Montreal, Bonaparte has it all: 5 Stars, 5 PLUS stars!!!
Bonaparte has a very elegant and inviting atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, we found that everyone was warm, welcoming and extremely attentive. The wine selection was extensive and the food was delectable. Every single dish was delicious from appetizer and salad to entree and dessert. Our waiter made the evening very special for us and we really enjoyed ourselves. Don’t rush this dining experience - savour every moment!
Fantastic anniversary dinner !!!!
Dinner couldn’t have been more perfect. The food was outstanding, the service superb, and the ambience magnificent. Absolutely a must dine if you are in the area.
We were there a few years back for our anniversary, tonight my birthday. If we did not live in another province we would dine here more often. Exemplary staff, outstanding cuisine and who can fault the location, old Montreal. A rare jewel that should be savoured. Merci beaucoup!
My boyfriend and I went to Bonaparte to celebrate our five year anniversary. We loved it !
We ordered a bottle of wine from a super large list of wines. We then proceed to the food menu and took the “menu de dégustation.” Super deliii! We had like 5 or 6 dishes and a variety of desserts. Everything was cooked to the perfect point. The ambience was great, the service was impressive. Our waiter was so warm and attentive. I think his name was Fred. Then our second waiter was also great!
We couldn’t pick a better placed to celebrate.
excellent evening at Bonaparte. Food and service were fantastic, would recommend. Tried a glass of the sauvignon blanc and pinot grigio and both were on to the too sweet side.
slow and good
The service was amazing! Thank you to the gentlemen that tended to our table. We ordered the Degustation Menu. There was value in the food as each dish was prepared with lots of care and effort in creativity however my tastebuds were asking for more. I would certainly still recommend this place to anyone looking for value in a tasting menu.
Everything about our experience at Bonaparte was wonderful. The food was so amazingly delicious. I loved the shrimp and scallops in vanilla sauce and my husband said the filet mignon was one of the best he’s ever had. Our server was attentive and he was so patient as we tried to practice our French. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a wonderful night out.
Absolutely fabulous restaurant with amazing quality of food and service
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant we felt so welcome! The Maître D greeted us right away and we were seated immediately(we had a reservation). Our server Fredrick was friendly, polite and professional! We ordered a beautiful bottle of wine and ordered the lobster salad and smoked salmon as appetizers. Both were excellent. Our main course was duck breast..cooked to perfection and to top a perfect evening off...a Grand Marnier Soufflé..The atmosphere was wonderful..can’t say enough about this restaurant...we will be back and we’re from Toronto. Worth the trip to Old Montreal.
Restaurant had a very good selection of food and wine. The atmosphere is nice and popular. It is definitely a good choice for special occasions such as anniversaries etc. Personnel was very attentive, especially with our 2 years old son.
I recommend the “menu degustation” especially. I definitely enjoyed the duck as main course.
100% satisfied-=-excellent food-wine list-careful service- elegant classic place!
Too expensive for the food you get. Freezing cold aircon. Winelist ok but extremly expensive wines
Service was great. The beef was great The chicken was not.
We thoroughly enjoyed the taster menu. In fact, more than a taster, the courses were almost full sized, so we felt that it was good value for money. The service was friendly and respectful. A great experience!
Beautiful unique heritage building in the heart of old Montreal. The food was top notch cuisine and would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to any one .
