This was our last night in Montreal, so we wanted it to be special. We researched Open Table, and narrowed it to Bonaparte and one other in the Old Port area. In fact, that afternoon we walked to each location to check out the dining rooms and we decided on Bonaparte. While there, we asked the Maitre De, George, if we could have a window booth. He said he would reserve it for us. Upon our arrival George kindly greeted us and to our preferred table. We ordered by the glass wine, for me, a beautiful Margaux and reasonably priced. My wife ordered the salad and I, the goat cheese app. Both fantastic. For entrees, the fish of the day, Arctic Char, and duck confit. Both were classic French preparations and were simply delicious. The bread and butter were superb. What a great way to spend our last evening, in a very classy dining room, away from the touristy hussle bussle. Thank you George, you are a gem.

We absolutely loved our time at this restaurant. The food was amazing, the service was great, and the overall ambiance was very nice. A lot of places in Montreal have somewhat slow or inattentive service but our server at Bonaparte checked in on us so many times and was so helpful and kind. If we ever come back to Montreal we will surely return to Bonaparte!

We were in Montreal to celebrate our 50th anniversary and stayed at the lovely boutique hotel, Hotel Bonaparte. We saw their restaurant’s online menu and decided to try the tasting menu. We were absolutely thrilled with our experience! We booked early because we had 8:00 tickets to the Aura light show and the staff was so accommodating to time the six courses without us feeling rushed. Every dish we had was incredibly delicious from the lobster bisque, homemade smoked salmon, delicate mushroom ravioli, unique rabbit confit. The pear sorbet palate cleanser was amazing! As the main course, I had the vanilla lobster and my husband the rack of lamb, both delicious and artfully presented with tiny vegetables around the plate. When we thought it couldn’t get any better, we were each served a plate with three mini desserts with a sparkler on top to celebrate our anniversary! We will never forget this meal! Thank you, Restaurant Bonaparte!

This was my second visiting Bonaparte and it did not disappoint. Excellent food and service as always. Bonaparte seems to be the standard when it comes to fine French dining. Definitely will go back on my third visit to Montreal.

Great service & all but one suggestion were top notch. We asked for a table near the window thanks to another review and it was perfect! A little tight getting in to get seated but quieter, especially when things got a little busier later. The food was all wonderfully prepared & presented. I really enjoyed the recommended signature cocktail (local gin, citron). My husband & I enjoyed the bread basket & salted butter, the Lobster Bisque & the Butternut Squash soup. He ordered the Beef Fillet & I asked for the Rack of Lamb, on the Rare side of Med- Rare & it was perfect.. very tender & beautifully presented. Our server (#91 according to our receipt, didn't catch his name) brought back the wine list after I asked for a glass to go with the Lamb. I told him a dry red to go with the Lamb, that I like Malbecs, Cab, Merlot, he suggested a Syrah, but I told him I usually don't care for them. He then suggested a Cab (or Cab blend?), to which I agreed...I believe it was $23 but I didn't really see the name... Anyway it did not pair with the lamb at all. Bouquet was decent, but it seemed very watery at first. Good flavor came thru at the end but there were no tannins at all. My husband ordered the Napoleon for dessert, but our server came back and said they were out (surprising with our 6pm reservation) & then chose the Chocolate Mousse. I ordered the Grand Marnier Soufflé, which of course took an extra 20 min. It was well worth the wait as it was fantastic! Everything else was wonderful & we both enjoyed a very nice dinner. Many thanks!
