the Napoleonic era give the restaurant the intimate character
that guests treasure. An exquisite cuisine, prepared with French savoir-faire
and showcasing the finest fresh regional products.
Excellent food. Nice space. A bit more formal than most Old Montreal restaurants.
Excellent, fine cuisine French food. The Tasting Menu is a must. Great wine selection and great service.
My wife and I were visiting Old Montreal for a long weekend and were looking for another great restaurant. We were not disapointed with Bonaparte, it lived up to all the four and five star reviews both here and on Yelp. We did the tasting menu, and it was fantastic. We also were able to get a nice bottle of wine to go with it. If I had one criticism, and our waiter Gabriel said it was a common request, is for there to be a choice for a wine pairing to go with the tasting menu. The wine list here is quite good and quite extensive. However, sometimes too many choices can be a bad thing.
We had the tasting menu along with a very nice bottle of wine. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice French meal. I had the Dover Sole and my husband had the duck. Appetizer was fois gras and shrimps. All done well. Plenty of food! Tasty!!
Warm, wonderful environment. Staff is terrific! My table had Catherine(she has served my parties previously) , I cannot express enough compliments on her behalf. She remembered the cocktail I drink! Food is wonderful. But what sets this apart from other restaurants of this level, is the warm, charming, staff and atmosphere!
Nice quiet atmosphere. Great service
Enjoyable dinner - Table d’hote was a good value.
It was great
The food was very good, however our "dining experience" came up short. Our waiter had not entered our order properly and had failed to check why our main course had not arrived after 1.5 hours.
The maitre dee had to intervene. I would go back but be much more aware of the cadence around me.
We enjoyed a lovely meal in Old Montreal with attentive service.
Had a great meal there on Tuesday, August 13th. Maitr'd and our waiter, Gabriel were other very friendly and helpful. Chose the 6 course table d' hotel and all courses were excellent. Plan to go there again on our next trip to Montreal. Great experience.
Impeccable fine dining in the classic French tradition. If what you crave is classic French cuisine, then you will have no better experience than Bonaparte's. The food was amazing, the service was incredible and the overall experience was memorable without fault. Not inexpensive, but given the perfection of execution, worth every penny! Merci!
Same great food and service for too many years to count. A true must visit when in Montreal!
Food was great, but service was only good
We will eat here again next time in Montreal
Great food and service! Members of our party had celiac and allergies to garlic, onions, and peppers, so we were concerned that finding a French dining experience in Montreal would be difficult, but we were happily proven wrong! Our server was very friendly and courteous which made it easy to ask about allergy concerns. The restaurant was a little hard to access, since you have to go through the hotel lobby, and we were seated close to the entrance so we could hear some of the hustle and bustle of hotel reception while eating. It was elegantly decorated and I appreciated the nods to Napoleon in the artwork.
The duck leg confit, maple glazed duck breast, and salmon were all prepared gluten free, tasted delicious, and were seasoned perfectly. Overall, a lovely experience and a great way to end the day in Old Montreal, be sure to snag a reservation in advance.
I enjoy dining at Bonaparte because of the ambience, the service, and the food. This time, in addition to the smoked salmon appetizer, I tried the steak tartar, both of which were absolutely delicious. I plan on working my way through the rest of the menu!
A wonderful evening: great food, attentive service, perfect for a romantic evening.
Everything about our experience was great. We did the tasting menu and each course was delicious. The service was fantastic, from the start. Originally they had us sitting in a section where they had just put a family with a baby. They offered us the choice to sit there or another location. We appreciated the consideration to offer us the option of dining somewhere quieter. We would go back again - great restaurant.
Great tasting menu. Good size portions and excellent dishes. Friendly service.
Wonderful experience. We enjoyed our meals and the company.
Good food, good service. Good quality for money
Quality traditional French menu, Shrimps and Scallop were particularly good.
Excellent French Food in an elegant setting. The tasting menu was divine.
Great restaurant and very consistent
I recommend it
The service was incredible very professional old school style I loved it. The pricing in comparison to what we ate was not on par. We found the food to be blend and lacking seasoning. Overall presentation of the food was outdated.
Excellent service, delicious food. Mushroom ravioli and venison stood out. Best meal we’ve had in Montreal. Highest recommendation.
Service food and ambiance were all excellent. It was busy but unlike most restaurants the noise level was quiet. The food was excellent but the mushroom ravioli was very noteworthy
Bonaparte is one of the best French fine dining restaurants in Montréal. The etiquette is as it should be and the service is outstanding. The Dover Sole and the Cerf are amazing! When in Montréal, this is a must visit!
Instead of trying to give us a nice table after knowing this was a special occasion they put us in a table near heavy traffic
Food was bland and tasteless. Ravioli was dry, onion soup tasted like water. Lobster bisque had no lobster in it. After expressing dissatisfaction with the soup and returning it they still charged us for it. Very disappointing. Expensive tasteless food.
Outstanding experience with superb cuisine.
Quite simply a superb dining experience. Bespoke service by staff and food is outstanding. Several menu options from a la carte to prix fixe choices.
Great food! Great souffles! Good Service! Must visit!
Food and service were excellent. Mushroom Ravioli delicious and Filet Mignon perfect.
Unbelievable dinner. The food was absolutely wonderful. All four of us had a meal to remember. I would come back here without question. One of the best meals I have had in a very long time.
We had bar seating. Bartender was very chatty but not multitasking. My meal suffered from lack of attention on behalf of bartender/server - the ravioli would have been delicious but sat under heat lamp too long, arrived dried and “crispy”. Drinks were good, Dover sole delicious.
The food was amazing! We travel the world and eat at all the top restaurants. Bonaparte will not disappoint.
The evening meal was as we had hoped - excellent! We had a friend from Toronto here as our guest, and wanted him to enjoy "true" Montreal ambience and food, and restaurant Bonaparte certainly delivered. Service was welcoming, polite, and efficient. Each of our choices of food was delicious (2 had the tasting menu), and our Toronto friend was impressed. Yes, a bit pricey, but certainly a good place to enjoy both ambience and quality! Highly recommended!
My sister and I were visiting Montréal for the first time and Bonaparte was one of the recommended restaurants by our hotel. It did not disappoint. I read numerous reviews and absolutely agree that the mushroom ravioli was delicious. I also enjoyed the savory cream brûlée treatment of the food gras and the dick was superb! The only disappointment was they did not have a wine tasting to go with the degustation.
Une gastronomie à essayer! Nous avons décidé de choisir le menu dégustation et nous avons adoré essayer différents plats à petites portions. Le service était impeccable!
