the Napoleonic era give the restaurant the intimate character
that guests treasure. An exquisite cuisine, prepared with French savoir-faire
and showcasing the finest fresh regional products.
Excellent food and service, would recommend to anyone looking for an exquisite French meal.
Takes several doors to figure out entrance on foot, once inside it's an amazing & lovely ancient building ...Mouth watering food & high end wine.
Table D'hote is best value. Service was exceptional, they found us a cozy table, our res was for the bar. Thank you
Very good meal. Traditional setting. Excellent service.
Sobrio ed elegante, buon cibo ottima scelta di vini
While the food was very good the service was a bit on the slow side. Sorry not a 3 plus hours for dinner.
Great food, service and atmosphere. I mentioned our special occasion in the reservation and we were treated very well accordingly. Would go back for sure.
The restaurant was very nice and definitely felt old world. I was surprised they didn't have wine/drink pairing with the tasting menu. And I was even more surprised, shocked that our waiter didn't know their wines. I'd have expected a place with an $86/person tasting menu to have a sommelier on staff and wait staff to be extremely knowledgable about their wines.
Overall I'm not sure the food quality matched the price. However, the restaurant was gorgeous and the staff was super friendly and nice.
Outstanding food... fabulous presentation... wish I lived in Montreal so we could frequent this restaurant more.. There are not enough positive and descriptive adjectives in the English language to describe this place.. All I can say is GO!!!!😋❤️
We always enjoy dinner at Bonaparte when we are in town. The only hiccup, they were out of the wine we ordered from their wine list.
FANTASTIC. I noted in my reservation request that we were celebrating a 50th anniversary. We were seated at (perhaps) the best table in the restaurant, and the servers not only gave their congratulations but brought dessert out with sparklers! The food was delicious and artfully prepared, and the variety of menu options was great, as it accommodated both couples: my husband and I enjoyed the tasting menu while his parents ordered full-sized entrees. The meal was well-paced, the atmosphere relaxing, and the service was friendly and attentive. The staff really made us feel like it was a special night (and it was!).
First class food, service and atmosphere, first visit and will come back here every time we are in Montreal.
Excellent service and very good food. We started with delicious onion soup (not overly cheesy, which is my preference) and a venison terreine (nicely balanced...really excellent), scallops with truffle oil (very good, could have used a bit more truffle taste), veal with brie (really delicious), and some amazing profiteroles, which was enough for two. We got there early because an event we attended ended earlier than expected and they graciously accommodated us. We would highly recommend Bonaparte.
Wonderful meal prior to seeing George Benson. Food was excellent. I had the duck breast, Meaty, not greasy. Great service.
Amazing quality food. Service was over the top. Everyone was over the top friendly from the moment we walked in to the second we walked out.
Food flavors are just I describable. The second you take a bite the flavors work their way up to a powerful but not overwhelming peak...then you’re left begging for more.
The food was adequate. It was not bad but it was not great and honestly not worth the price. That being said, we did enjoy the evening and liked the overall experience. We were in Montreal for one evening and wanted something in Old Montreal. The location was good and within walking distance from a lot of places and hotels in the area.
Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Will visit again!
I have been eating at Bonaparte since last 23 years.
A rare gem in Old Montreal.
Lovely! Wonderful food and service! Would return.
Everything were fine: service, drinks, ambience, etc.
My husband and my son’s plates were delicious.
I ordered duck filet and it was cold a bit and not too much of sauce. even so i liked all my plates.
It is not our first time and we wish to go back doon.
We ordered the tasting menu so we could sample a variety of dishes. The portions were perfect and the food was very good but nothing unique. Service was amazing.
Wonderful dinner as always! Service is impeccable. Tasting menu is a great value. We will return!
We enjoyed a great service in this restaurant. I hope to come again when I visit to Montreal.
Wonderful food and a beautiful location. Our servers were also excellent.
Great dining experience while on vacation in Montreal. Everything tasted fantastic and the service was excellent.
Food was uniformly excellent. Lobster bisque was good not great. Surprisingly so was the duck breast which was a little tough despite being properly cooked to medium rare. Mushroom ravioli was stellar - probably the best item I had amongst a half dozen great meals this trip. Wonderful service - starting with the maitre d greeting me by name even though this was my first visit.
French cuisine at it’s best. Unhurried dining experience where all courses are tasty and well plated. Service was always there at just the moment needed.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Bonaparte. We both had the 6 course tasting meal, with different choices between us. The food was excellent. The entire experience is with having, the staff were all professional, knowledgeable and relaxed- even when they are packed and busy with patrons. It was our first time in Montreal, but we will definitely book another table at Bonaparte on our next visit. Excellent wine list, but I opted for a cocktail instead, it was constructed perfectly (I am a cocktail old fashioned snob).
Great food and service in a lovely atmosphere.
Fantastic food and friendly, professional service. We love Bonaparte!
I'd give more than 5 stars if I could! We came here to celebrate my graduation from grad school and it was wonderful. The service was probably the best I've ever had, and the food was sublime. Un mille mercis!
It was a very classy restaurant with delicious food and cocktails the waiters were so helpful and very nice I would highly recommend it and we plan on going back when we return to Montreal
The food exceeded all of our expectations. We did the 6 course tasting menu and everything was superbly prepared. Specially the mushroom ravioli. That was the best. Highly reccomend it. The only thing we wish is that they would do a wine pairing option with the tasting
This is a very traditional French restaurant with lovely decor, quiet tables and very nice French cuisine. Our server was very nice and accommodating. The appetizer came out on time, but we had to wait for our main course for about one-half hour. This was not the fault of the waiter as he apologized several times. The food, however, when served, was delicious and beautifully plated. Since this was my first time there, should I go back to Montreal, I would probably give this restaurant another try as the food was excellent.
We had the menu degustation and all the courses were good.
FOie grad maybe the best
Escargot maybe least favorite
Kid royale on expensive side at 25$
Would go back
Service and food were excellent, highly recommend Bonaparte!
The food was delicious and, as many have mentioned, service was outstanding...professional without snobbishness. Not avant-guarde, just traditional french done well!
The IDEA was good. The actual experience was quite unimpressive. The mushroom ravioli in sage sauce was the only excellent dish we were served. Great service and upscale ambiance.
What a great and polished restaurant experience, well worth giving up one of your nights out to eat here. We ate the tasting menu and it was amazing, lobster bisque followed by one of the best fois gras I have had, exceptional scallop and the lamb main course just about finished it off.
My wife had the souffle which was big enough for 2 and my assortment of deserts was good, but felt it would be better if they just concentrated on one dish - rather than trying to make 3 or 4.
Value for money is exceptional, we told them to put their prices up - this is worth $110 of anybody who is a food lovers money...
Long live the revolution, long live Boneparte!
Fantastic all around. Could not ask for anything more.
