the Napoleonic era give the restaurant the intimate character
that guests treasure. An exquisite cuisine, prepared with French savoir-faire
and showcasing the finest fresh regional products.
A wonderful meal at a lovely restaurant, friendly and excellent staff as well.
We went during Montreal à Table. Four amazing courses for 43CA$ The staff was lovely and kind. One order came out incorrectly and they were really sweet about it, and comped is a drink. We’ll be back :)
Absolutely delighted with Bonaparte in every way....quality of food and variety of choice, ambiance and service. Will definitely come back.
Very pleasant restaurant were you can have a good business meeting and possibly close that new project.
Wonderful! Would definitely come here next trip to Montreal. A really special experience and delicious food.
The restaurant is in Old Montreal very near Notre Dame. Service was a bit slow but otherwise good. Food was good but not spectacular. My country pate was very good and well presented but my salmon was well done rather than medium as I had requested. My wife loved her pan seared scallops.
From the moment you enter, you realize you have embarked on a special evening
Everything is special from the courteous and highly efficient wait staff, the physical surroundings and the food.
We started with onion soup, presented far differently from the traditional crock submerged in copious amounts of tasteless cheese. The broth was excellent with a slice of parmesan encrusted toast topping.
The main courses, a filet of salmon and a breast of duck were perfectly cooked and well presented.
Overall a wonderful experience, a visit to recommend and a Candidate for a return visit.
My wive and I had the 4 course Montreal a Table Menu that turned out to excellent and innovative. The confit of rabbit and pork cheeks were highlights of the mains while the Paris Brest was the winner for dessert.
We ate in the back room which lacked some of the ambiance of the main rooms but had the advantage of being quiet. Service was excellent as always although perhaps a bit rushed at times since the restaurant was full and we had the impression that our waiter wanted to get us out as soon as possible.
Excellent overall and we will return.
Lovely dinner during our weekend in Montreal. Great service, food and ambiance.
A nice before theater dinner. Excellent service and great wine. Will return soon
Food is outstanding with a nice decor. Hope to return the next time viSiting Montreal.
Food was exceptional.
The food and service always very good The wine list is extensive and the sommelier Catherine is very knowledgeable - makes good recommendation
Excellent from start to finish
This was one of the finest dining experiences we’ve ever had. Both my wife and I had the degustation menu, 6 courses, with enough choices to satisfy both a seafood lover (me) and a non-seafood lover (wife). Every course was exceptional; from the description on the menu, to the presentation, to the taste. The service was top-notch, and the spacing of each course’s delivery was perfect. If you are near Old Town Montreal, do yourself a favor and go to Bonaparte.
Une soirée agréable avec un menu satisfaisant. Le service fût impeccable et attentionné par l’ajout de feux de Bengal au service du dessert. La sélection de vins est également assez diversifiée et de la gamme de prix. Au total, une belle expérience.
Food and wine selections were excellent. Service was a little slow but it was crowded. I’ve had multiple favorable dining experiences over the past 20 years and I’m happy to see they’re still open and have maintained their quality.
That is the unpleasant experience I have encountered at Bonaparte on October 26, 2019. The level of service was so far from satisfactory. The request I had made on open-table was ignored. In addition, the waiter were inattentive. He was very disrespectful to us. For example, he never explained the wines & dishes. And, he took our plates away without asking & stopping. Moreover, he gave a deeply sigh when I dropped knife accidentally. I won’t be back. Please don’t waste your time or money at this awful restaurant.
Was staying at hotel, restaurant staff excellent.
Great meal and service! You’re an idiot if you come to Montreal and don’t try the tasting menu
Inadequate wine selection, long wait between courses
Outstanding menu choices and preparation. The servers were comfortably attentive and solicitous. Very very pleasant experience
Everything from start to finish was exceptional. Had the 5 course menu. Everything dish was delicious.
Muy buena la comida y las porciones adecuadas
I can’t imagine a better dinner in Montreal. Loved our experience there.....
Excellent service. Lobster salad and mushroom ravioli was outstanding. Rack of lamb cooked to perfection as was the Dover Sole. Everything we could want for our only dinner in Ild Montréal.
I had been to Bonaparte with my mother a decade ago, recommended it to my son to take his mom when she visited him, and took my husband on a date night Thanksgiving weekend. From my two experiences and that of my son and his mother, if I could give a six star rating, I would. Service from the Maître d'hôtel's greeting through the coat check departure is first class. My husband enjoyed the Table d'Hôte menu and I indulged in the Degustation (tasting) menu, both of which were reasonably priced at a fraction of what they would have cost in a similar caliber restaurant in NYC. What. A. Meal. I could not eat like this every night because my cholesterol would be through the roof, but for a special evening out, it was a delicious splurge. Divine lobster bisque, duck foie gras crème brulée, escargot in parsley fricassee and Provençale style vegetables, breast of duck flavored with maple syrup and wild berries, and a tasting of three pastries with a small crème brulée for dessert. Coffee was also excellent. Maxime and his companions provided stellar service. To be honest, my only disappointment had nothing to do with the restaurant, but more with the patrons, some of whom should have dressed more appropriately for such a beautiful setting.
Our favorite dining experience in Montreal. Excellent food and service!
Restaurant haut de gamme avec un service très distingués !
Le tartare de bœuf est sans aucun doute le meilleur que j’ai mangé de ma vie,
La carte des vins est impressionnante, mais hors de prix!
This was not a good experience.
Cramped restaurant/Tables too close so that service/clearing was done by reaching over table....silverware not available when food delivered...temperature in restaurant too warm...snafus in missing/out of order courses on the tasting menu...unbearably long pauses between courses ....mushroom ravioli the best course but everything else the kitchen sent out was not up to par especially an over cooked/miniscule dover sole main...a salad improperly dressed(salad dressing dumped in a clump in 1 segment)....we overheard the waiter scolding 2 other tables for trying to order uniquely...wine and water not refilled at ours and multiple tables surrounding us...worst food experience by a long shot on an otherwise delightful long Montreal weekend
My husband & I booked our table a couple of months ago for our visit to Montréal from Halifax. We had been looking forward to it so much and we were not disappointed. From the moment one steps through the door, the service is impeccable. I ordered the phyllo goat cheese starter that just melted in mouth & my husband’s steak was one of the best he’d ever had. Our good friend joined us for dinner & Bonaparte has the perfect ambiance for quiet conversation. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Old Montréal & we shall certainly return.
Nice French Restaurant located in a hotel in Old Montréal. Service was slow, but food very good.
I had the best meal I have ever had in a restaurant at Bonaparte. The food was both tasteful and tasty.
It had been a few years since I came back to Bonaparte and this time was a big miss. The service has gone down terribly. We arrived and no one had offered to take our coats (something they used to do automatically that had impressed me). We came as a group of friends. We were sat right next to the cash register at the entrance. One of our seats was practically pushed up against it. Very uncomfortable. The noise level was very loud. Our reservation was for 8 PM...our meal order wasn't taken until maybe 8:45ish...and our main dishes only arrived after 9:40 PM! The appetizers were good, the presentation was alright. The only outstanding appetizer worth mentioning was the mushroom ravioli...it was delicious. The duck magret was cooked to perfection, the beef tartare was well seasoned. All in all, the food was good, but the service took so long that it will probably be a while before any of us thinks of coming back here again.
We were there for an anniversary dinner. The staff was so friendly and even sent dessert with sparklers. The food was delicious, I had the sirloin in a red wine sauce and my husband had the pork tenderloin-cooked to perfection. The lime meringue pie was amazing! We both loved Boneparte and would definitely go there again when in Montréal.
Lovely evening in a beautiful room.
Service was close to perfect.
Best filet ever, venison was a bit chewy but that’s probably normal since I don’t typically eat venison.
Mushroom ravioli was delicious.
Wonderful wine selection.
A bit pricey but that’s ok.
Honestly worth it.
This was one of the best meals and service I have had. The menu was extensive and varied as was the wine list. The service was outstanding. Our meals were beautiful presented with excellent tastes to go along. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone on any occasion.
Very nice restaurant, service and food was excellent. We’ll definitely go back during our next visit to Montreal.
