the Napoleonic era give the restaurant the intimate character
that guests treasure. An exquisite cuisine, prepared with French savoir-faire
and showcasing the finest fresh regional products.
Excellent service and great food, for sure make time to visit if you are in Montreal!
We ordered the tasting menu. It was excellent.
Lovely restaurant, service was amazing. Food was exceptional...thank you.
Had the salad, Arctic Char and Lemon meringue pie. We were in the more ornate of the 3 rooms. The noise level was higher than usual as there was a birthday party st a table of 8 near us. This is a traditional French restaurant. Menu is good and the service is excellent.
A thoroughly enjoyable anniversary dinner. Top flight service, food prepared and presented to perfection. Warm, friendly atmosphere. When next in Montreal we will most definitely return to Bonaparte.
Excellent service et très bien manger avec ambiance relaxe Merci
Perfect place to have a nice supper before going to the Centaur theatre.
The theatre package meal had lots of choice at a reasonable price. The à la carte meals can be pricey, but always top notch in quality and taste.
Bonaparte is excellent but very expensive. Great for a special occasion but for the frequent theatre visits, a little expensive.
Great food and great service
Amazing Birthday experience. The staff was absolutely amazing and had great recommendations from the menu.
The duck confit and lobster was amazing.
A very nice restaurant, food and service. A little bit noisy and pricey.
Always a pleasure to dine at Bonaparte and we were lucky
to have the chance to do so once again for our Thanksgiving
dinner. Just perfect. I only wish the patrons would try to dress up
and present themselves just a little bit nicer... this is a lovely restaurant with a kitchen and staff that is serving such wonderfully and carefully prepared food....those visiting the
restaurant should dress appropriately.
First time to Montreal. Special occasion meal. Lovely ambiance; friendly and informative servers. Why not 5 stars? Because what missed was significant. Ordered a very nice bottle of champagne that they acknowledged wasn't thoroughly chilled and it wasn't, so why serve it. [And in hindsight I should have declined it but who'd have thought I'd have to do that?!] Service not very attentive at the start (i.e., bread not offered until 45 min into our evening, often looking for server) but then improved. Out of Dover sole - that happens but then the entrée substituted wasn't correct. At that point, we'd waited quite some time so were not going to send it back. The duck was delicious, melt in your mouth with just enough sweetness. Lobster Linguini was excellent texture and flavors. Lamb cooked to perfection. Chicken with brie was exceptionally moist. It was a fun evening but given the expense, not up to the billing. I doubt the misses we experienced are normal but caused disappointment overall.
Every aspect of the Bonaparte is a delight. The food, the service, and the decor are all top notch, and the staff is absolutely wonderful. Everything is done with such care - and the mushroom ravioli appetizer is to die for!!
Constantly good. You can always count on excellent service
We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and this was the perfect place. The food was outstanding and the service was perfect. They attended to our every need but were never obtrusive. They also gave us a beautiful table by the window and a sparkler in our dessert to help us celebrate. It was a wonderful, romantic way to spend our special night!
Overcooked entrees with inconsistent quality of service. Chefs need to do a better job seasoning the food.
The best part was the service. I found it a stiff atmosphere upper class lots of older folks. The service made up for it though. I sent my first wine back but was happy with the second one. Food quality was excellent and I was surprised at the reasonable prices. Though my wife and I did share first plates. Overall satisfied
Food was excellent, managed to get a nice window table for two and watch all the passer by people try to get in the wrong entrance!
Would definitely go again.
Absolutely the best meal we had in Montreal. Two of us had lunch, although this restaurant would have been a perfect dinner location as well. We started off with cocktails. A delicious Old Fashioned Style Drink and Gin Martini which had an orange flavor (delicious. As an appetizer, we started with the Warm Goat Cheese in a Filo Dough, with Sherry and the for main course: Scallops with a truffle oil & mushrooms as well as the Roasted Duck Breast. The service was perfect. Ambiance was comfortable, but also chic! Loved everything about this place. Would absolutely go back and wish we had the time to. Without a doubt, I give Bonaparte 5 our of 5 stars.
Merci!
Great dining experience! Their menu dégustation is worth it and delicious.
Very nice evening at the Bonaparte. Beautiful restaurant with friendly and attentive service and great food. We will certainly go back.
The table d'hote was good value, but really the food is at best only good. Overall, the food is rather tasteless and not a single one of the dishes had a "Wow" factor. The onion soup was atrocious--the worst onion soup I have ever tasted and a disgrace for a French restaurant. The setting and décor are great and the service was impeccable. It's a great place but work on improving the food.
Excellent ambience and superb service. Only reason for not giving a full 5 starts is that one of two of the dishes in the degustation menu were very good but not spectacular. Overall had a great evening celebrating my partners birthday here.
We were seated promptly at a quiet table near the corner of the nicely appointed restaurant. Beautiful decor and lovely flower on each table highlighted by a single overhead light. The service was excellent, pleasant and helpful server who spoke English (thankfully). He offered suggestions and guided us through the menu.. The wine list was extensive with abundant French varieties as well as others. I started with sweat potato soup which was outstanding. The Roasted rack of lamb and port wine jus and Dover sole fillet seasoned with Meunière style fresh herbs and pine nuts were excellent choices- wonderful flavors in abundant portions. The lamb shank with boar sausage was outstanding- the meat tender enough to pull apart with a fork and the sausage was flavorful and not “gamey “ in taste. Lastly, the chocolate mousse was possibly the best I’ve ever tasted!
Wonderful location in old Montreal. Excellent service. Superbly made cocktails. Recommend the tasting menu as one Delicious plate after another kept coming. Highly recommend.
A wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend it.
A wonderful meal at a lovely restaurant, friendly and excellent staff as well.
We went during Montreal à Table. Four amazing courses for 43CA$ The staff was lovely and kind. One order came out incorrectly and they were really sweet about it, and comped is a drink. We’ll be back :)
Absolutely delighted with Bonaparte in every way....quality of food and variety of choice, ambiance and service. Will definitely come back.
Very pleasant restaurant were you can have a good business meeting and possibly close that new project.
Wonderful! Would definitely come here next trip to Montreal. A really special experience and delicious food.
The restaurant is in Old Montreal very near Notre Dame. Service was a bit slow but otherwise good. Food was good but not spectacular. My country pate was very good and well presented but my salmon was well done rather than medium as I had requested. My wife loved her pan seared scallops.
From the moment you enter, you realize you have embarked on a special evening
Everything is special from the courteous and highly efficient wait staff, the physical surroundings and the food.
We started with onion soup, presented far differently from the traditional crock submerged in copious amounts of tasteless cheese. The broth was excellent with a slice of parmesan encrusted toast topping.
The main courses, a filet of salmon and a breast of duck were perfectly cooked and well presented.
Overall a wonderful experience, a visit to recommend and a Candidate for a return visit.
My wive and I had the 4 course Montreal a Table Menu that turned out to excellent and innovative. The confit of rabbit and pork cheeks were highlights of the mains while the Paris Brest was the winner for dessert.
We ate in the back room which lacked some of the ambiance of the main rooms but had the advantage of being quiet. Service was excellent as always although perhaps a bit rushed at times since the restaurant was full and we had the impression that our waiter wanted to get us out as soon as possible.
Excellent overall and we will return.
