    Boom and Batten was a lovely choice for a meet-up with friends. Food was very tasty, server was pleasant and attentive and we noticed that the noise level was lower than many places, allowing us to chat easily. We love the water views!

    We had a birthday celebration for 2/5 of our party members and waited almost 2 hoursi before our food came. 2 other tables of 4 that sat after us were served, food came, they ate and our appetizers still hadn’t arrived! From our arrival to departure, we were in the restaurant for just over 2 1/2 hours. My daughters’ dish, the chicken karaage was awful, it was acidic and very salty and she couldn’t eat more than two bites. My lamb was not heated through so the inside was cold. We sent back the karaage but with the time that it took to get our meals, she was not interested in ordering anything else so nibbled off her sisters’ plate. We debated on desserts because of how long it took to get our food but in the end figured we had been there long enough so did have dessert which was okay. It would not be enough for us to return.

    My wife and I have been to B&B on numerous occasions and have enjoyed it every time, with the exception of our last visit. I discovered the online reservation system, appreciated it and plan on using it in the future. Of course you can't beat the ambience and the service has always been very good. Typically the food has been very good. Wouldn't you know that this time, we were introducing friends to this restaurant and one of our party ordered the margarita pizza..mistake, it did not look good, it was soggy, and apparently didn't taste all that great..my recommendation, take it off the menu, as all the other dishes were good. We will still continue to go and introduce friends, hoping this was just a one off.

    Location, location, location! Victoria West on the harbour. The surrounding views in the harbour are wonderful. Easy to find street parking, steps from the harbour pathway system, a great place to walk before or after your meal. Interesting menu options for brunch, lunch or dinner, using fresh local ingredients, an array of herbs and spices that complement the food. Interior restaurant space is well laid out, a combination of booths and tables well located to enjoy the harbour setting. The staff are warm and friendly, offering great service. For a special meal with family or friends, this is a great place to take them.

    We were there for happy hour and I ordered the Wagyu burger. It was paper thin like schnitzel. I chose not to return it as everyone else’s seemed fine but it was the worst food I’ve had at Boom. Usually it’s very good

    We had the poke tuna bowl and the ghocci. Our server was outstanding in accommodating us and the kitchen provided wonderful meals. It has now become our "go to" restaurant in all of Victoria. Brian

    Booked two weeks in advance. We were given an hour and fifteen minutes to dine before the next reservation. Our waitress, Monika, was curt and standoffish which, frankly, ruined the whole dinner. When our food arrived, we had less than twenty minutes left of our allotted time remaining. Ate quickly and ordered dessert. After dessert was served, we were told that the next reservation was here so we would need to carry our plates over to the bar to finish our meals. Food was fine but service was profoundly disappointing. As well, we ordered three items off the Happy Hour menu and realized when we arrived home that we only received the Happy Hour price on one of them.

    For the first time I was disappointed with the food. Two of us had the kale salad and both of us were more than disappointed. It had no taste-- wilted and wet. Mine was combined with the shrimp as my main dish so quite unsatisfying. The gnocchi that our friend had was delicious as always. Service was great. Our server was very attentive.

    Always a good place to go for a tasty meal with a nice view. Lots of space to dine in. Even when it is full, we have never felt like sardines in a can.

    Main items were good but my wife’s dessert described as an apple tart was definitely not a tart and it was cold and inedible. It shouldn’t be on the menu. I will still recommend the restaurant but tell my friends to be wary of desserts.
