Borough Bar + Grill pays homage to the unique North American culinary tradition in a casual yet expressive space. The restaurant features a main dining room and lounge area with floating ceilings, intimate booths for a more private dining experience and a unique chef’s table for large parties.

The restaurant also includes a patisserie where guests are welcomed to grab sandwiches or a coffee for a walk through University District’s many parks and walkways.

1.5 -2 hours for each booking, please call if more time is needed.

Corporate chef Daniel Pizarro has developed a menu as diverse as the boroughs of New York.

Complete with retractable awning and fireplaces the south facing patio is the perfect spot to enjoy Calgary Summers.

All accessible from University Avenue with direct access to Central Commons Park, as well as convenient underground parking with immediate access from the plaza.

    Overall a very pleasant evening. Serving staff was exceptional and the manager makes you feel like home. The only useful criticism would be tone down the spice in the seafood linguine as I like to taste the various ingredients on the plate and do not use breaded calamari in the seafood linguine, just sautéed squid. Breaded calamari in the appetizer is fine.

    Very happy to find this venue as convenient located as it was to the university. Great variety of dishes to choose from and our party was quite happy with our selections. A little noisy, but our group of 8 didn't have too much trouble hearing each other around the table near the kitchen.

    Menu has changed since our last visit, we didn't find it too interesting. My wife's choice turned out to be pretty plain whereas mine was interesting overall but the gnocci were burnt from the pan. I think we'll look elsewhere for our future dining experiences.

    I enjoy going to Borough for lunches with clients. Sitting in the enclosed patio is bright and quieter than sitting in the main dining room. The service is attentive but not overbearing. The variety of food on the lunch menu makes it easy to please any palate and the variety of vegetarian options is particularly good. The food is delicious.

    2 of 4 dishes had to be sent back as they were not cooked to order. Of note, one of the burgers was quite undercooked. When we asked to send it back, the waitress noted that we should have requested the burger be cooked “well done” so that it wasn’t pink. Can’t say I’ve ever experienced that with a simple burger, especially given it wasn’t very thick at all. Credit where do, the manager later attended our table and apologized for the mishap, provided free desert for our entire table. No harm no foul, but I felt there were a too many issues with the food for a restaurant of this caliber and price point.

    I booked a table for 10 friends who were getting together after a long time apart. 10 quickly and unexpectedly became 15 or so and the staff at Borough could not have been more accommodating, moving us to an open area where we could spread out and enjoy each others’ company. The food was delicious, and I have no idea how our server Andy kept on top of our orders! I cannot recommend Borough Bar + Grill highly enough and thank all the staff, particularly Andy and Lisa, for their unfailing good humour and patience. We will be back if you will have us!

    Was a good experience, until we saw mice running around the floor of the restaurant!! We won’t be going back and definitely would not recommend!!

    Hello, We are very sorry to hear you will not be joining us back at Borough. Please be reassured that we are very on top of pest control who are here every 2 weeks to do thorough inspections and trap placement, to which we pass every time (these reports are available if you ever wish to see them). I can assure you that no mice are in the kitchen or affecting any aspect of the food handling or service. Unfortunately we are in the middle of a construction zone, and disturbances to the ground bring mice out. With 200+ guests coming and going every day, a beautiful enclosed open patio space and a shared hall with multiple businesses, mice find their way inside from the cold. We have only had one mouse reported and Abell pest control was notified. Kind regards, Lisa Kulyk General Manager

    I have eaten at Borough Bar many times. This is the first time I was disappointed with my meal. I'd been told their burgers were thick and juicy. So I didn't order my usual pasta and went for the burger. It was about the thickness of my iPhone, dry and salty. My friend had a sandwich she said was very good but we both sent our french fries back because they were drowning in salt. Fortunately, our server had the fries replaced and they were much better. But I will never order the burger again.

    Tried Borough Bar for the first time, ambiance is wonderful. Nice to have a spot this chic without having to drive downtown. Beef Carpaccio, beet salad and roasted chicken were all delicious. Amazing cocktails. Only negative remark, a little heavy handed on the salt.

    Music was a bit too loud for a Sunday lunch when we arrived (especially since not busy) but our server was extremely apologetic and had it turned down a bit which left us with a great atmosphere for talking but still able to enjoy the music. Service was great and so was the food; definitely will return!

    A bit of confusion to start our night. Made a reservation on what I thought was an inside table & tried to seat us outside. Not ideal for a chilly evening. Ended up on their inside patio but seated next to the door to the outside patio, which was used quite a bit so felt the cold breeze throughout our meal. For the food, the baked mushroom dip was yummy. My main, pan seared halibut was yummy. Hubby’s strip loin was ordered medium well & the bottom tasted burnt on some pieces as it was a thin cut. Our waitress was really friendly.

    We have been to Borough Bar a few times now and it’s become one of our favourites. We are happy to see the restaurant busy and doing so well! The food has always been excellent in quality and flavour and we appreciate that there is a variety of options on the menu while remaining cohesive. The fried Brussels sprouts are always a treat that we talk about at home. The pizza (we tried BBQ chicken) was really tasty as well, as is the rotisserie chicken main dish. My only real critique is that all the “signature” cocktails are sours. There are non-sour cocktails on their classics list, but I would appreciate a bit more variety! The cocktails are well made and tasty though. Great wine and beer list as well. The manager and staff are always friendly. We will certainly be returning!
