We had the tasting menu and the wine paring. The food was excellent. the tastes, textures, and presentation were all wonderful. A nice relaxed pacing, and live piano rounded out a very nice dining experience. The wait staff were all excellent.

We visited the Botanist for a group double birthday dinner. Some in the group have been several times. The host was very kind and greeted us by the names on our IDs. Our waitress acknowledged the birthdays in the group and wished us a happy birthday. Some points in the service were a bit slow but typical of a fine dining restaurant.

The cocktails were generally good; poetry in motion was a standout. The rest of the drinks, while good, didn’t reach the level of complexity used to describe them in the menu.

Complimentary bread was a great touch. The whole table received food at the same time, however, one person’s order was entirely missed. This was corrected quickly by the waiters but in the meantime everyone else’s dishes became somewhat lukewarm.

Everyone generally enjoyed their food but some thought the portions were small (for example, the maitake mushroom dish). Standout dishes are the winter squash salad (amazing!), mushroom tagliatelle, and the burrata. That said, the burrata needed more bread to accompany it (we ended up using the complimentary bread). One person in the group had vegan cavatelle and thought the pasta was very underdone. Others in the group had the regular cavatelle and had no complaints so perhaps it was an issue of consistency. Some others sampled the one vegan cavatelle and agreed that it was slightly underdone.

At the end of the meal, we somewhat expected to be offered a birthday dessert, but the waiter did not offer anything. We ended up not ordering any desserts.

The ambience of Botanist is incredible and is the shining star. The service was polite but there were rough patches (i.e. missing order). The food is beautifully presented and in line with the theme of the restaurant but there is slight room for improvement.

Our reservation was at 1:00pm, we were there for 1:05 and our table was not quite ready. We may have placed our order for brunch close to 1:30 and probably should have told the staff we had a 2:45 spa appointment at the Willow Stream. The fruit charcuterie came out quickly as did our fruit bowl. By 2:20 we still hadn’t received our main course. We had to get it boxed up and take it to the spa and have it after our treatments ended. Thankfully the spa staff refrigerated it for us.
Service of avocado toast with a poached egg shouldn’t take that long. Otherwise it was great.

The staff outshone the food. Staff were lovely and absolutely made us felt at home. The food was okay but isn't exactly great. The drinks were amazing though.

It probably comes down to personal preference, but the bread was a bit too burnt, one of the eggs on the eggs benedict was perfect while the other was overcooked, the chocolate dessert tasted fine with the ice cream, but once the ice cream is gone, it's just too overly sweet, the sablefish was cooked to perfection but pairing it with an entire plate full of beans seemed somewhat sloppy.

Space and server were fantastic but the food wasn’t that great. Scallops and duck were so salty it was not pleasant. Lamb was tasty though. Our server was awesome but I won’t come back because I wasn’t happy with the food

Came here for an anniversary brunch and had an absolute blast. Our server Jay was great and the food was phenomenal ! The cocktails are probably one of the best we've had in Vancouver. We will definitely be coming back !

There was a mix up with our reservation as we booked the 3 course dinner menu but upon our arrival we were told that the Chef was not expecting that so we had to choose something else from the regular menu. We picked the 5 course “we will take it from here” from the menu.
Each individual dish was more or less Ok except the risotto that to me seemed bland. The steak was great more than anything else but overall I guess it was not the greatest combination of foods altogether. Too fatty all around, we did not have an easy time digesting the food that night.
I should say drinks were amazing, definitely the highlight of that 500$ bill was the cocktails. We found everything else pretty Ok but not worth the price tag.
I guess I will not repeat the restaurant but the bar , oh Yes!! Not sure maybe my expectations were higher but I am not trying to be unreasonable when I say I guess the Chef should rethink the “we take it from here menu” it was not a pleasant experience eating all that fatty food.

I went with my partner for my birthday celebration. It was an exceptional experience. All the staff interactions were great, they were kind, warming and very professional. The food is perfection! The best I ever had in Vancouver and because it was my birthday they send me a delicious complimentary dessert. I had non alcoholic cocktails and they were also super tasty and quite fancy. I loved this restaurant and I'll definitely come back for another amazing night.

Bar - amazing menu, stunning and experienced bartenders, great menu and understanding of you;
Food - it is ok, but not really special. I would recommend scallops, not any other dish we had;
Service - I expected better service.
Note. For that pricing and positioning, I would expect staff to have clean uniforms and identical shoes )

Booked an appointment for a birthday dinner: indicated this in the reservation process, the hostess asked if we were celebrating birthday (and we confirmed we were), and there was no complimentary dessert or drink that would’ve been provided by any other restaurant in Vancouver. On our way out, the waitress said, “Thanks and happy birthday again!” For such a highly priced restaurant, felt the combination of a few factors made this experience poor and a bit of a slap in the face: Asked us as guests whether we were celebrating something when they didn’t have anything to offer; emphasizing that they knew it was a birthday dinner as we exited; a long line of unattended guests waiting at the entrance, with a very in efficient check in process, or multiple guests were left unattended for up to 10 minutes at a time (in any other fine dining restaurant, a greeter would be there, ready, and standing by to greet and check you in right away), leaving as I’m sure if we should just wait and someone would eventually come say hello to us, or if we needed to walk into the restaurant and intercept one of the waiters or waitresses for help; lastly, the pricing of the food. I am fine with expensive, but at like a Blue Water Cafe, an Elisa, a Gotham’s, an iDen & Quan Ju De Beijing Duck House, at least the exorbitant pricing at those places give you a substantive amount of food. At Botanist, for $49, we got literally 5 thinly sliced coin/ Toonie-sized pieces of ribeye, and some vegetables. That’s approximately $10 per a bite of food. Other dishes were very similarly priced. Again, I am ready to pay, I am there to shell out the big bucks, but if it’s going to be pricey, at least let me pay for something worth that price. The $44 halibut was more like a $30 dish (the way it was made and the amount of stuff on it), and $24 pasta dish barely had more than 5 bites of food on it - no exaggeration. I am not sure what I paid for poor service, hunger, inadequate attention to birthday star.
