The duck and sablefish were really good. The lamb though was okay, nothing really special and I dont think its worth the price. Service was good but there could be improvement comparing to other high-end restaurants.
Food and service were awesome. Ambience was bit noisy during rush hour.
The food and drinks were FANTASTIC! Can’t wait to go back again.
We had a fun evening starting with some interesting cocktails and then appetizers (great recommendations from our server). The main courses were superb and then of course desserts and apres drinks. We’ll come back!
Amazing experience and amazing food! We enjoyed the service and atmosphere. Great place for a romantic night out.
I had lunch with my sister and we sat at the bar. Charles ( our server and bartender) made us beautiful , original and well balanced non alcoholic cocktails. I was really happy to be served in French and Charles offered a warm and professional service. The food looked and tasted amazing.
Food and service was very good but they need to something about the drab ambiance. The room is new but needs a better design.
This is a gorgeous space, and the experience was alike none other. The attentive staff looks after you and makes this place a must visit for a special occasion.
Every part of our meal was perfect. Highly recommend.
Very good meal - we had the Scallops, Duck, and Striploin. The Duck dish was definitely the best out of the three.
It was a decent brunch
great food, presentation and service. Limited menu that I suspect they all do well. First time there, will definitely be a recommend
Best place to eat ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like it very well as I have been this place a few times already.
Only thing at that time is really very noisy.
Pricey and food was slow to come out of kitchen, server made up for it somewhat.
Always good. Great choice for business, breakfast or lunch.
Phenomenal food. The lamb saddle and the duck entrees were very flavourful with complementary accompaniments; taste buds were dancing! The scallops starter also very tasty. A little hard to hear across the table as the background noise from downstairs was too loud.
Absolutely perfect dining experience! If your looking to treat your pallet to a high end but very affordable meal then Botonist is the place♥️ The servers, wine, food and atmosphere was truly a treat. Can’t wait to come back.
The food here is both visually as pleasing as tasty.. seems everyone loves their complimentary bread- so much so, you can order it for take home (lol)
Anyways, started with their watercress salad.. lightly dressed and dusted with a hard goat cheese, a nice start. Our mains were the cavatelli pasta.. had interesting flavour and textures. But our other main, the strip lion was excellent! the sauce was delicious, and everything paired beautifully together.
Desserts are 'light' and again visually pleasing. This was an overall pleasant experience
Food was outstanding but somewhat expensive, and the service was decent.
Somewhat disappointed that default service charges (on the payment machine) begin at 18% and run upwards from there... that's getting a bit much on a lunch bill, which is north of $120 for two people (without drinks).
Because of the name and location of the restaurant, I was expecting a more high-end vegetarian/pescatarian menu, but also my fault for not checking ahead of time. We chose this restaurant because mom (birthday girl) was on a pescatarian diet. The menu was primarily west coast- with fish, steak, pasta, duck, and lamb. We ordered the scallops, foie gras on waffle, and duck consomme as appetizers. For entres, we had steak, sable fish, and duck. They were cooked well and the ingredients were fresh. We also had the lemon cake for dessert. I didn't note in my OpenTable booking that it was for a birthday celebration. However the restaurant was very kind and was able to still make it special for us. They had all their staff sign a birthday card for mom and put a candle on top of the lemon cake. The drinks and wine pairings were good. I just expected more flare, maybe I just watched too much "Final Table"/Netflix. Overall it was a good experience，mom had a happy birthday, service was spectacular, food was delish, and we would go back.
Trying it for the first time - puked it. Waiter was great.
Great service at the beginning but towards the end it got hard to get the server’s attention. Coffee was very weak and the pasta was just alright. The crab and eggs Benedict were great and I would highly recommend that!
The food was extraordinary along with the cocktail experience!
Absolutely incredible experience. Food was art, the space romantic and the service excellent. I would suggest that they should have more vegetarian options as my guest had few options.
Unique selection of meats and fish. Interesting preparation...definitely will go back.
Amazing service! Food was beautifully presented. A little noisy so we asked to move to a quieter table so we could have a better conversation.
We had a great time at Botanist for my birthday dinner with my family. The reason for the 4 and not 5 star review is that I thought the appetizers were quite lackluster. The entrees however are a completely different story. The lamb, duck and chicken entrees were all AMAZING. Cooking in a way that I didn't know was possible. We were seated in a garden suite, which is a semi-private room with lots of greenery on the roof, window sills and just around the room in general. Really quite a nice room! Will definitely come back, but will probably just skip the appetizers and save room for dessert (which was also great).
Our dinner was just Divine. Great staff.
Amazing “Take it from here menu” with wine pairing.
Special “Thank you “ to Chef Hector for composing such a delightful menu, Heather for the friendly and attentive service, and Stephanie the very knowledgeable bilingual sommelière.
PS: A little candle and fresh leaves/flowers (not dried out ones) would have been a great addition to our beautiful and special evening at the Botanist.
Service - friendly and professional, however felt a bit impersonal. Ambience - clean and bright floral decor, comfortable seating and very nice lounge, however lighting in the main dining area lacked the warmth felt in the lounge - could have used candles and softer lighting to set a better mood for diners. Food - presentation was beautiful and innovative, and the flavors complex, however the hominy in the lamb main did not work- too hard and crunchy and just way too much of it. Skin on duck breast was divine, crisp and subtly smoky. Despite some minor hiccups, overall one of our favourite new dining experiences. Will be back.
Botanist was perfect for our special birthday dinner. It is such a pretty restaurant with a calm ambience, the food and drinks came out so quickly and the staff were lovely. We were even given a signed birthday card from all the staff ! Thank you!
Food was alright.
Service is not as good
Never even came to add more water just basically take your order and take your bill
18% tips is the first choice even you don’t feel they deserve that
We had a great experience. Our server was amazing and the food was first class.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Host station was awkward as there was no one there to help but everything from the drinks at the bar to being seated and served was impeccable. The food was amazing and the wine pairings were outstanding. A truly first class dining experience.
Amazing food and great atmosphere. My wife and I loved the minimalist design/decor and the nature influence can be seen in all their dishes and cocktails.
The service was also great and we were greeted with a card wishing us a happy anniversary.
Overall, I would highly recommend Botanist, especially for any kind of celebration. The menu isn't cheap but it's in line with other high end restaurants. Even more so, the portions were a good size and we left feeling fully sated.
it’s now my fav restaurant everything was amazing just trust me
Just love the new menu! We have dined and enjoyed Oru in the past, but the new rebranding of the restaurant just blew us away. Loved the lamb, crab salad, sturgeon and the bison tongue. The Meyer Lemon desert was amazing. Lovely cocktails as well. We shall return!
A wonderful botanical experience! The perfect date night for those looking to spend a bit. A great brunch gathering for friends.
For dinner, 20-Day Dry Aged Duck is a stellar entree and the Bison Tongue alongside the Watercress Salad are two incredible appetizers for splitting amongst you and your company.
For cocktails we had the What The Flower. A sweet, fruity and flowery drink that's more flower than fruit. I myself had the Treebeard. A nice woodsy, pine flavoured gin drink for the Cascadian male.
I had heard many wonderful things about this place prior to my visit, and all expectations were met. Highly recommend
Taste was great .. we had the tasting menu and aside from the desert and the beat salad every thing else kinda looked the same ...in the Same bowl plated the dame way.. for 120$ kinda expected a lil more wow factor there as that is the most expensive tasting menu I know of in the city right now... flavours were excellent it just left us wanting a bit more..
Wonderful décor, wonderful food, wonderful service! Thoroughly enjoyed our Valentines Day Lunch here.
