This is our second visit to this restaurant and both times it was outstanding. The staff are friendly and professional. The food is quite simply out of this world! It is visually impressive when it arrives and that is just the start of the journey. It is not inexpensive, but not ridiculous either. Good value for the experience, service, and food quality. Extensive and non-pretentious wine list with many very good wines available by the glass. The extra touches such as gorgeous napkins and monogrammed ice are fun. Well done Botanist!
Nice place for a nice family dinner . To ne recommended for special occasion
Service was reaaaaally slow. Friendly but at one point the kitchen forgot about our order for the second course. The server apologized about this but still the complete tasting menu took us like 3 hours. I was full by the second hour. Also, we were there celebrating a friend's birthday that is visiting the country and instead of giving us a birthday treat we got a birthday card signed by the staff. Which I though was a little strange. Can't the place afford to give our a little bday cupcake or at least ask the pianist to sing a happy birthday version? Its not like this is a cheap eats spot. Overall, food is always strong and they were really accommodating so we had no complaints there but service was lacking in that sense for us.
The carrot salad was amazing, as was the chicken entree. I would also definitely recommend the lab cocktails, Deep Cove was wonderful and I can't wait to try the others.
I would take a pass on the watercress grape salad, it was drenched in dressing.
I hope they add a chocolate dessert to the menu soon!!
We weren't very impressed neither with the food nor with service unfortunately, we had high expectations given previous reviews.
Absolutely superb food, service and interiors. What a fabulous way to end our trip to Canada. A flawless culinary experience in a stylish and special space. Well done indeed
Great ambiance, fun atmosphere and food quality & creativity that can stand up against anyone. I wish we had one in Toronto.
Food and service was v good, we loved the details. Jackie or server was extremely attentive n professional.
The menu seemed v similar when we dined in Dec 2018. Could not remember if we ate there also on Wed then, if there is no daily rotation, it is menu fatigue for us.
Thanks and gratitude to Angela and the team for always making guests feel special. We’ll be back ;)
We eat out at what I consider "high end" restaurants fairly often. This meal at Botanist beat all others, hands down. From the incredibly creative cocktails to appetizers to entrée...all ingenious, well plated and delicious.
Awesome service. The food was a bit slow coming out in between though.
A memorable meal to conclude our travels to Canada. Also a wonderful way to celebrate a special birthday.
Not suitable for gluten free diners
We treated ourselves to breakfast and were very impressed overall. The freshly squeezed grapefruit juice was refreshing, and the crab and avocado eggs Benedict were cooked to perfection. The coffee was better than I expected, too. The decor of the room is quite nice and bright without being garish. We will certainly return.
We booked day of and had dinner at the bar. The food was amazing! Andrew, the bartender, was thoughtful and innovative. We loved all his drinks and recommendations.
We felt confident having our special dinner at the Pacific Rim. Unfortunately service began very slow once I mentioned it they made an effort to be more attentive. (Said it’s busy) we requested a nice table by window when we called and when we arrived. She took us to a large round table in the middle of the restaurant and had to once again ask kindly for a table for two. My husbands beef was suppose to be med rare instead it was well done. We discussed my meal with our server several times pouched halibut) and she brought me the salmon. I believe it was the manager that corrected the mistake and brought me a side order of halibut. We really looked forward to our anniversary dinner together and were disappointed. Presentation and flavour was nice.
The service was incredible and the restaurant was so beautiful. Every detail was managed and perfected. Can’t wait to go back.
Nice environment in Fairmont Hotel. Service is thoughtful and the burch was so great and not expensive that I thought. Definitely will come again.
Not only the place is extremely beautiful but the services are really well!
The food was excellent.
overall I highly recommend here for everyone👍🏼
Great service. Food was good too. The restaurant looked really nice and clean.
Cutting edge cooking with great attention to detail. Cool space with knowledgeable if not the most friendly servers.
Atmosphere is great, the dining area is nice and bright. Food and drinks were delicious! Loved their bread!
We sat in the Garden section which was quiet and relaxing and you could carry on a good conversation. I had the Sunchoke soup which was excellent. The three little jerusalem artichokes in the bottom of the bowl along with the crab in this creamy soup just added to the flavour. The presentation was so artistic with little flower petals and dried mushroom on the top of the soup. Also had the watercress salad with goat cheese and green grapes. My friend had the tuna which was also artistically presented. Their homemade bread was delish! Prices are high but to be expected in a downtown hotel. There is meter street parking which is about $4 per hour cheaper ($18 for 3 hours) than parking in the hotel. A great spot for a special occasion!
One of Vancouver’s finest. Great food beautifully presented. I was treated like a king from the moment I arrived...as usual.
Loved the food which was amazing to look at and eat . Thought giving me a birthday card instead of a dessert or writing happy bday on it was odd and useless.
Total package was wonderful
We were so pleased with the service and experience provided. I would certainly recommend the BOTANIST to travelers, locals + cocktail aficionado's alike. Well done!
A few times here and always enjoy my time. Seatings and ambience are nice. Food is delish. The eggs benedict and beef tartar... delish. The chia pudding... dreamy. Staffs are so professional and friendly as well. Keep up the good work!
Server rushed us to make an order. Didn’t expect that at the Fairmont
Amazing experience. Food was fantastic and service was top notch. We were here for a birthday and the staff provided a card and all came by to wish a happy birthday in person. Would recommend and return.
The service was good but extremely slow. Food was really so-so. Nothing special. For that price... plenty of better choices out there. Probably won’t go there again.
Personally, I’m more of a yelp review kind of person, so I will certainly post a detailed review there with pictures.
But I do want to emphasize how great I think that the service was. The hostess was lovely and our server was lovely and helpful and had a good sense of timing as to when to come and ask if we wanted drinks/needed more time with menu/how we’re enjoying or meal/etc. I also seemed to notice on passing that all the staff seem super engaging and knowledgeable, even when approached for something like directions to the washroom and the bar tender that I never interacted with personally looked like he was having an awesome time making some fabulous beverage while seeming genuinely interested in the conversation he was having with the guest. 10/10 on the hospitality front!
Our family of six had a wonderful, memorable experience at Botanist on Sunday evening. When I made the reservation on open table I mentioned that it was a family celebration: Father’s Day and our daughters birthday. Our server wished my husband a happy Father’s Day when we were seated. Later, a birthday card, signed by several people who work in the restaurant, was delivered to our daughter at the table. I had requested a quiet spot in the restaurant, if at all possible, because my husband can’t hear conversations in noisy restaurants. They provided us with a lovely room to ourselves. There was attention to every detail, our server and the other staff were professional and very pleasant, the ambience was lovely and the food was amazing. We will go again.
Father’s Day was a busy day for them. Food took very long to come but they kept reassuring, being apologetic about things being late and offered snacks while we waited. Food was good and I appreciated them constantly checking up on us and offering us snacks
We were disappointed in the ambiance in the main restaurant. It was noisy, hearing the dishwashers cutlery, and we were as far from the kitchen as you could get, and the tables around us. I agree with a former review that it feels a bit like a cafeteria. We ignored it at first trying to have a good visit, but we were uncomfortable. The service, cocktails and food were fabulous.
Our experience was quite fantastic! It was quite loud but that was only because we got sat near the kitchen. Visited for my boyfriend’s birthday! Our food was beautifully put together and absolutely delicious. Decor and atmosphere were very elegant and soothing; using dim natural light through curtained windows making it not to bright and not too dark. Live music filled the space without being intrusive. Cocktails were so beautiful I almost didn’t want to drink them (definitely recommend the lilemonade and Poetry in Motion)! Our waiter was a blond québécoise and she was just absolutely marvellous, I don’t think we could’ve had anyone better. Do come here, it is such a delight!
It was a great place to celebrate my birthday!
We came for our anniversary and it was a wonderful night. I think the wine pairings on the tasting menu was over priced, you are better off buying a nice bottle of wine, Bc the pours are tiny.
I would definitely recommend a visit, the food and service were excellent.
we were blown away. the food, the service, the decor. all top notch. we will be back!
