The food does not have much flavour and the portions are super small. you get maybe 4-5 pieces of 1 inch squares for the crudo, the escargot has a piece of bread that is soaked in oil/butter coating your whole throat and everything was just below average. disheartening experience as other places that do specials on certain days at least make sure the food tastes good. I should have read the reviews before i came.

As it got busier, the service definitely decreased in quality, dishes took a long time to come out, we were asked as to what we had already had, and getting the dessert took a very long time. But the food and drinks were great and the service at the beginning was very good.

Overall this experience as very underwhelming. Not bad, definitely not great. Immediately upon walking in it smells like stale smoke covered up with potpourri. The ambience of the restaurant just wasn’t it, felt very cheap. I ordered the tasting menu, all of the dishes felt uninspired and I felt like I could have made them myself. The steak was cooked well but ruined by the butter with citrus notes on top. The gumbo tasted like campbell’s soup. They charge for still water, which is fine but was not disclosed to us when offered which is odd for Toronto. The wait staff was young and clearly inexperienced. The chocolate cake dessert was dry, literally crumbled on my fork. Happy I went on Tuesday night for the half price tasting menu because if I paid full price for that I would have been much more disappointed. Will not be back.

A very pleasant experience. Our server was very knowledgeable, making astute wine and menu recommendations. She and the other server were attentive without being intrusive, keeping an eye on our table and anticipating our needs. The food was delightful; a short bistro menu with some creative elements, executed perfectly and well-presented. I'm delighted to have Bouffe close by and highly recommend it for couples or small groups.

This was a fantastic experience! The food was delicious, very fresh tasting and very flavourful. 3 of us had the tasting menu which was a wonderful showcase of house specialties. The other three in the party had stand alone entrees, each as great tasting as they looked. I would definitely recommend this place!

Great little spot with cool jazzy vibes on a Saturday night. Chef and owner Adjey came over a few times to say hi and sling a couple of jokes. Food presentation was great and creative. Looking forward to going back to try more of the menu!

Loud noisy obnoxious table at the front of the restaurant which is small and narrow and the noise reverberates My complaints fell on deaf ears The prices were out of line for a restaurant with plastic banquettes, not white table cloth service and the quality of the food did not make up for it. The steak frites was no better than a burger joint.

What an amazing experience ! We were lucky to sit at the back at the chef’s table. We were able to have the menu divided out into shareable’s of whatever we wanted. Our waitress was extremely kind and the chef came around a few times to talk and see how things were. Beautiful food and beautiful wine ! The ambiance was amazing I would definitely like to come back and try the rest of the items on the menu, and dessert ! For the service received, the ambiance of the restaurant, and the value itself I would suggest this as a date, birthday spot, or night out with friends. Fantastic overall !

Mr Adjey is a brilliant chef and we are lucky to have him in Toronto. The size of Bouffe isn’t too large which allows Chef Adjey to cook everything himself personally, for each person. The Fois Gras is divine and the pork belly is scrumptious. Service is excellent; highly attentive without being smothering. Ideal balance. And finally: prices are very reasonable for such high end quality. A superior value to many of the over priced restaurants in the downtown core. Highly recommended

I was really excited for Chef Adjey to be back on the scene. Brought my family for Dinner. It was OK. The Vibe is really nice - casual and fun. There are a few issues, we were seated next to the bathroom and there was an odour which was over powering. The cocktails are great - even the mocktails (pina colada is more like a soda). Great Bartender. We ordered The Food - we ordered a la carte and a bit of everything. Bouillabaisse - was lacking salt (we asked our server for more). Tartar - is perfect. Duck Confit - lacking salt and flavour, nothing on the plate was seasoned. Steak Frites - very good, cooked perfectly. Burger - very good. Frites are amazing. Service - i understand that chef wants to pace the food service, so diners can drink and relax. The food portions don’t warrant that type experience. Bring out a couple apps at a time, this way we eat and drink a couple cocktails. The servers were running food and standing. I’d go back but I feel some kinks need to be worked out.

Service was horrible. They "lost" our order. Drinks took 30 min to come to table. Water 45. Service staff obviously new to industry. It was chaotic. I know Adjay is a great chef. Too bad about front of the house

Bouffe was good but the service was slow. They also told me that my main course that I ordered was no longer available after we had our starters and had waited for our mains to come. They did comp dessert for this but they should tell you when you order if something is no longer available.

Service was friendly and efficient. Food was excellent. You know you have come to a proper bistro with high standards for meat when they don’t ask how you want your steak… it’s medium rare or saignant, the only way a respectable bistro should do it. The compound butter was a nice touch and made the jus unnecessary. Lobster croquettes were fantastic with the saffron. Duck confit was melt in your mouth goodness. Portion sizes were perfect and we left feeling completely satisfied. The only minor negative would be the ambient noise making it difficult at times to hear the servers or have a conversation with my dinner companion. As the evening progressed, it did become quieter as two large groups left. Maybe something to absorb the echoing sounds on the walls or floor? Other than that, it was a very enjoyable evening out. Apparently, brunch will be served soon at Bouffe. Will have to make a return visit to try it.

I am really sad to be writing this review but my experience here last night was terrible. I came here for my birthday in May and had a WONDERFUL time and I was very excited to bring my husband here. (There is a google review under Mirandamuggins that fully reflects my feelings at that time, but my experience last night here was Awful). We made a reservation but the restaurant was basically empty when we were arrived so we weren’t asked for our names and were sat right away. Fine. We then waited almost five minutes for the food menu to arrive and taking our drink orders and getting them delivered to us was very slow. The person who sat us was not the person who took our order so there was some confusion about who our server was - we were never introduced to either. The woman server did explain our one dish when it was brought to us by her, which was appreciated, but otherwise we had no personality from either wait staff and we didn’t really get to fully experience the food. My last time at Bouffe, the servers knew each of the dishes and really did a great job of creating a full experience for us. As people in this industry ourselves, good wait staff is a part of the experience and Bouffe did not deliver last night. Chefs food was lovely. The lobster croquette needed to be hotter however and the crudo was way too acidic. The tartare was slightly dry, but the foie with stone fruit was perfect, and the main reason I came so overall I left satisfied, food wise. We tipped 14% which is abysmal by our standards (we generally tip 25-30%) but couldn’t justify it given the service. Chef’s food deserves more credit and explanation and more personality in the front of house. 3/10

We had the chef's tasting menu. Overall, the menu is reasonably well conceived but would be more exciting if it was more seasonal--rather too focussed on meat vs seasonal veggies. Foie gras, confit de canard, steak frites and crème brûlée are the expected clichéd french dishes and while they were executed well enough, there was nothing special about them. My lobster croquette tasted more of oil than lobster, my foie gras needed seasoning and some cognac in the cherry sauce because the fruit on a soggy bit of bread lacked flavor, the duck leg needed something for contrast--supremes d'orange or a pomegranate-honey-thyme drizzle for instance, the steak frites was a bit one-note (salt)--blue cheese in the chive butter would help, as would asking patrons how they like their meat rather than assuming medium well. Finally, my crème brulés was wonderfully silky but had a top of crusted sugar with almost no color, so the dish lacked those lovely caramelly notes we all want. Amazingly, there was no bread (french restaurant?) to mop up sauces. The wait staff was efficient and polite, but couldn't really rescue a good but not great meal--at half the price, it would be worth trying again but at this price point ($100 pp without wine) , go to Actinolite where the meal and wine pairings unfold like a gustatory adventure.
