   Having read a bunch of positive reviews before selecting Brasserie 701, I can only surmise that we hit it on an "off" night. We waited 90 minutes for our food to arrive and once it did our exasperated waiter was quick to throw the kitchen under the bus for the delay. Never once in that time, though, did he come by the table and ask if we wanted another round of drinks or to even fill out water glasses. People around us, who had come in after us, seemed to receive their food in a much shorter time, so not really sure what happened. In the end, the restaurant comped our drinks -- which we appreciated. With all the amazing restaurants in Montreal, though, it's likely we won't be back to the 701. (Food, by the way, was just meh -- especially for the price.)

   C’était correct, mais pour le prix payé cela aurait dû être parfait. Et c’était loin d’être le cas. Nous avons commandé des huîtres avec l’apéro mais aussitôt arrivées, nos entrées sont aussi arrivées… mon steak était bleu (j’avais demandé medium-saignant) et les 2 desserts étaient très ordinaires. Le service boiteux avec un serveur qui semblait un peu perdu et inexpérimenté (ça on peut comprendre). Pour un repas de 350$ pour deux, nous connaissons vraiment plusieurs autres restos où ça vaut la peine d’investir une telle somme. Au final notre soirée a été correcte, sans plus, mais avec un petit goût amer…

   The mimosa bar was very good! The waitress always kept our glasses full. The food was immaculate. Very crispy chicken and flavorful potatoes. Fruit was very refreshing

   My main message is Stay Away! I wish we had. But the restaurant was highly reviewed so we went in expecting good food and good service. Although somethings were good, overall we got neither. One main problem was that the wait staff, though sweet, were uninformed about changes in the menu and the managers seriously run the wine list as a giant scam.

   Very disappointing. The quality and quantity in the main courses was was varied. But overall, the value was poor. Service was very slow despite a large number of servers present. Not worth it.

   Alot of staff standing around. We were seated, but no waiter came to us. Apparently the restaurant was waiting on them to arrive and in the interim they were apparently content to let us sit. We had to flag down another person to serve as our de facto waiter. I choose two beers and neither were available. The food was okay. My wooden chair could have been a bit more comfortable. For level of service and quality of food this restaurant is overpriced.

   The place probably was very good in the past. Definitely not anymore. The food that they cook is less than average. (Oysters were good) The worst dish was “risotto with lobster “ - disaster!!!! It’s a terrible “soup”. Not even distantly resembling a dish in the menu. The beef tartare was pounded with Dijon mustard, and was prepared with defrosted meet. The bottle of simple red wine we ordered appeared to be absent…… :):):):):) At the end, they brought us a bill for our table and a neighbour table!!!!! when we expressed our dismay, we were offered 10% discount. It’s a joke , just a sick joke. Honestly, I don’t understand how such an establishment can be rated that hi.

    This was our second time here and we returned because the food and service were both so wonderful the first time. We arrived shortly after 6pm and the restaurant was not yet fully seated. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks but we didn’t get any food (even bread, which we saw on other tables and asked for) until nearly 7pm. Appetizers came out shortly after we got our bread. My daughter asked for a second drink, which never came. Our original server seemed to disappear after that and the new server was more attentive. The food was excellent but we were very frustrated that we were sitting at the table for so long without anything to eat. Not sure if we will go back.

    Restaurant had not received our reservation even though Open Table confirmed, but we were accommodated when arrived. Food was very tasty, though the main plates were served only warm instead of hot. Service at the beginning when restaurant was mostly empty was slow.

    We had an awful experience at Brasserie 701. The service was the poorest I've ever experienced in a restaurant of any type. They were crowded, but clearly they did pay attention to providing any quality from long waits for any request to cold appetizers when they arrived. The waitress could only say she got a message about the cold appetizers that we waited over 30 minute to get. The manager reluctantly credited a few items. Save your money and find better food in Montreal.

    Honestly it’s so unfortunate that our service was this terrible on our last night of the Montreal Grand Prix. Our server was so cold- didn’t ask us how our food was or offer another cocktail after we finished our first rounds. He disappeared as soon as the food was dropped. Food was amazing. And then we waited as they cleared the table with no server in sight…no one offering dessert or asking how it was…finally after asking 2 other workers and the manager they told us our server gave our bill to the wrong table and that we’d have to wait even longer. I have been in the service industry for years so I get it, mistakes happen. But they didn’t make it right. No apologies from the server, no compensation for the crap service and wait… to top it all off, both washrooms had no toilet paper or paper towels, garbage all over the floor the entire time we were there. Was looking forward to this one, but it was our worst experience service wise in Montreal so far. Only thing that saved it was the food.

    It was F1 weekend and so keep this mind. The dinning room is beautiful and well laid out. Cocktails were outstanding. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful and delightful. Food was pretty good but we waited a long time for our mains and good was but on the cold side. Thankfully our waitress inquired and our food came out no long after. I truly believe it was likely do the number of guests on F1 weekend. Would have been a 5 star otherwise but will give this restaurant another try on a more regular weekend.

    I brought my family for Father’s Day. We all loved our starters which was tha carrots cream soup, charcuterie and gratinés Rockefeller oysters. For our entrees, the salmon tartare was just OK. Thé look of the risotto was odd! The ravioli was very good! Although the overall experience and the service was nice!!

    It was F1 weekend and one of the teams was staying in the hotel so I suspect staff had been pulled off the main floor and were working in the private dining rooms. Our waitress was lovely but worked off her feet - we cancelled the bottle of wine we had ordered because it was going to come while we were eating dessert. We liked the ambiance and dinner itself was very tasty. We'll go back

    Our server was excellent! Kind and funny. Another server gave our table a hard time after serving a group of girls additional bottomless mimosas and avoiding serving us after we inquired directly to him. He continued to avoid our table and was quite impolite despite being supposed to cover our servers tables (ours and the girls) while she was on a brief break. She came back and was very kind, everyone else seemed great except the one server.
