We dined at LeBrun last night and learned they opened four months ago. The food here is spot on! Not to be missed. A contemporary perspective on classical French cuisine that is a delight to discover. We stayed with two Bibb Lettice and Pickled Shallot salads. The shallots were crunchy and superbly tart yet not sour. A light dressing that may have included ver jus was lightly citrusy and most refreshing to the palate. Dinner was Duck and Cassoulet of white beans. A breast of duck that pan roasted to perfection was pink and juicy with a gorgeous cassoulet of beans with haricots vert, herbs and other little flavorful things. A wonder cassoulet sauce of duck glace added further dimension along with a tradional topping of buttered breadcrumbs. Dee-lish! Seared Sea Scallops were as good as you’ll find and also cooked to perfection ( not over cooked). Welch of the scallops were perched on top of a very flavorful spaghetti squash that was lightly creamy and/or buttery and prepared with herbs and perhaps shallots and a splash of white wine. I am guessing! Just go!!😂

Our waiter spent like 3 mins w us. Super nice guy. But just spent time hanging w what looked like locals at tables. Could’ve been a pretty awesome place. Forgot bread and plates piled up. He didn’t seem to mind much. Won’t go back.

The food was delicious. I had the tuna tartare and husband had squash custard to start. He got the steak with french fries. I got the short rib both were yummy. The creme brulee was out of this world. We left feeling hungry still after a 200+ bill. Portions were small.

BEYOND WONDERFUL STEAK FRITES During its inaugural season in Bar Harbor, Brasserie Le Brun's Chef Zack Firestein has shown that he has a way with a menu, organizing seafood and local ingredients within a French theme and delivering some delicious flavor. And, due to his creativity, I now know what to do with that bottle of Chambord that has been sitting for decades in my liquor cabinet--a French martini!--which was served at Le Brun in appealing gold-rimmed stemware and competently concocted by the amiable bartender from Portland. But from the start, I did not feel comfortable in the cavernous, hard-edged space, where neither candles nor table lights warmed the atmosphere. With non-vegetarian entrees ranging from $34 to $48, couldn't Zack give me more than a lonely little fern on the table? Leaving with a $260 bill for two diners, I wondered if the goal for Le Brun is to be the Cottage Street Cash Cow in the Michael Boland's portfolio.

My first time at Le Brun and it’s very impressive. Lovely space, excellent service, wonderful food, very good wine list. We had tuna tartare, escargot, cassoulet, roast chicken and a cheese plate. A good and inexpensive Cote du Rhône. A real French bistro in Bar Harbor - how wonderful! Very highly recommended.

We’ve been to Brasserie LeBrun a handful of times and the last couple of meals have been meh. I got the Steak Frites and the cut was so full of tendons, I could barely cut through it. The real downside was it was so noisy we had to strain to hear each other throughout the meal.

What a great way to celebrate French cooking with fine local Maine ingredients. We tremendously enjoyed the raw shellfish to perfectly executed bouillabaisse and roasted chicken. The dessert was in tune with the season. Best of all was the attentive service. Our server made us feel like home. It seems like the chef who used to work at some our favorite restaurants in Philadelphia has trained the staff well. Bravo!!

Small portions, above average prices. Waitstaff hurries you to order drinks, with a 20 page wine list you arent allowed to browse. Hurry hurry hurry. Kind of sucked- small portions, not very French, above average Bar Harbor pricing and the evening, while not bad, turned out to be just a mediocre experience.

We had a delicious dinner at Brasserie LeBrun this weekend. Tuna tartare and onion soup impressed right away! Delicious 1/2 dozen oysters from local Trenton Maine. Short rib and steak with frites for entrees. And probably one of the most delicious crème brûlée’s I’ve ever had…..butterscotch with candies hazelnuts on top! The people watching in a front window table added to the experience. And our server Joshua was engaging and on top of an appropriate level of service for the price point. Great meal, we look forward to going back again now that Bar Harbor has quieted down for the winter.

Not my first dinner at LeBrun, but definitely the loudest and longest. The long table down the center of the restaurant is a clever idea—until it fills with a raucous party. Without the noisemakers the table makes a comforting place for singles to mix or not. Service was unusually slow on this night, but the food was as creative, fresh, and tasty as ever: superb halibut, scallops, and short ribs, as well as an astonishing seasonal dessert of apple cider donuts stuffed with pear and coated with a foie gras glaze. Overall, a memorable dinner despite the drawbacks.

My husband and I drove to Bar Harbor from NH for a little get away. The recommended restaurant from a friend of ours didn't have any seating available so open table suggested Brasserie LeBron. I read the reviews and it sounded like a great spot with superb food. Earlier reviews talked about it being loud. That had been taken care of with buffers on the walls and ceiling. Our food was outstanding. My husband still cant stop talking about his duck. Our server Joshua was friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and charismatic. Ever course was presented in the perfect timely manner. We never had to wait or felt rushed. It was a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. It was more than just a meal, it was an experience. I highly recommend Brasserie LeBron.

The best dinner I have had in a long time. Mostly classically French, and very well executed. All the food was delicious. High quality ingredients cooked using proper techniques. The ambiance left a little to be desired, it felt a little too spacious and cavernous for my taste. The cocktails were also extremely well done. they were distinct, paired well with the food, and fit in with the style of the menu. Overall: Exceptional

Great food and service but…Front of the house tables have much better esthetic than those in the back. Looking at a wait staff station, boxes on a staircase and bathroom doors when you’re having this kind of dining experience shouldn’t happen.

Brasserie LeBrun might be the best restaurant in Bar Harbor. Definitely fine dining but not stuffy. We even went back for a second meal during our week's stay. The food is very fresh and exquisitely well prepared. The tuna tartar with beet mustard was amazing - an unusual mix of flavors, but so delicious. The halibut on some kind of wonderful sauce with chickpeas was so good I had it both nights! The crem brulee with toasted hazelnuts on top and salty caramelized sugar was incredible. There is also steak frits for the less adventurous. The service was great. Attentive but not omnipresent. Extensive wine list. Craft cocktails. While it is still easy to get a reservation, I think by next year it will be one you might want to make well in advance.

We selected this restaurant because we were able to get reservations at the time we wanted but WOW, we were in for the most wonderful surprise. Not only was the ambience perfect but the service, food, and drink was absolutely wonderful! It turned out to be one of the best meals we've had in a while and as the owner even came out to chat with us, we were able to tell him in person how much we enjoyed our meal there. We don't live in Bar Harbor but rest assured that the next time we are in the area, Brasserie LeBrun will be our top choice for dining!

We overheard a bartender recommend this place. It’s fairly new and off the main path. The restaurant is clean, open and classy. The hostess and our server were great, the food delicious! We had escargot and an arugula beet salad to start followed by short rib bourguignon and steak frites. No room for dessert. Very good wine list.

Wonderful dinner with great service. Had a drink at the bar first, fun bartender with perfect cocktails. Then indulged in oysters, foie gras, a simple green salad, I had the duck (the best Ive had in years), my dining companion had the roast chicken (delicious, moist and fresh), with wine pairings and then the chocolate and peach dessert. The waiter was very attentive, professional and handsome! He really made the night special. I highly recommend this Brasserie if in Bar Harbor

Kudos to the chef for a creative and delicious interpretation of a traditional French cassoulet!! The foie gras appetizer was also outstanding. My wife had a salmon starter and short rib pappardelle entree. She was delighted with both as well. Extensive wine list and friendly, attentive service makes this place one of our top picks of our stay in Bar Harbor.
