   We will not be returning.The selling off of the car park to NCP means the Castle Hotel has lost its allure.It must now rank with Premier Inns.The fuss and pallava to get the parking app and then registering to enable me to book a prepaid time was irritating. The menu was far and away from what we came to expect and we both feel such disappointment as regular visitors and customers of many years

   My first time at Brazz and I wouldn’t rush back. The first two cocktails I ordered I couldn’t have as they didn’t have certain ingredients. The food was good but for the price paid, I was expecting more. It was nice, but not great.

   Very good service, love the decor and we got to sit in the lovely booth. The menu was fresh and seasonal but with a couple of the good classics. We will visit again soon.

   Only 2 staff waiting and serving at the bar. Had to keep asking for things. No one asked whether food was satisfactory. Waitress seemed unhappy and very quiet. Waiter was rushing around. Fries were hard and overcooked. Not up to usual standard

    We have come here for a good number of years, if we are in town we always went to the Bow Bar for coffee. Easter Monday evening we had dinner and as always it’s reliably a good average, nothing truly outstanding neither was any poor. So after two starters , two mains and two desserts three very good and three average, they were very quiet, it should have been better. It’s the value for money that reduces my expectations. Afternoon tea here was excellent a couple of months ago, they can be exceptionally good.

    Evening meal on Good Friday . Only 4 tables occupied . Menu is now simlar to average gastro pub . Sevice fairly slow and quality of food very average . We were told it had improved , perhaps some of the staff were away for Easter , shan't rush back .

    Seated quickly & given menus. No drinks order taken until our food order was taken but bottle of tap water brought to table. We decided to go for the Celariac soup , nice although not that strong a flavour, bonus points for it being really hot! I had the open sandwich with smoked salmon & cucumber & dill dressing. They garnished it with candied lemon which unfortunately was just too sweet & overpowered the salmon etc. fresh lemon would have been better & a bit more dill in the dressing. Toasted sourdough bread was quite hard to cut through the crusts so just had the middle bit.

    We were so disappointed with meal. We eat here regularly, my family all stay in the hotel when they visit and I had expected better. The waitress made us repeat every part of our order, several times, to the point where it was embarrassing. Our drinks did not arrive until after our starters and I had to chase up to see where they were. Our starters were all lovely, but my main course was virtually inedible and half of it was left. (Shallot tart, which was burnt underneath and congealed and sickly on top). Service was slow and despite saying at the time of booking, that this was an important birthday, nothing was said. It was not a good evening and we all left feeling rather let down.

    We arrived slightly early and waited for a table to be cleared and cleaned. Would have been happy to stand at the bar with a drink while this was done but not asked. Our drinks and food order was taken promptly but the aperitif ordered didn't arrive before the starter was served and we had to remind one of the servers who then got our drinks. Therefore our mains arrived while still drinking our aperitif and we expected the glasses of wine ordered to arrive but again had to remind the staff. The food was excellent. Squid and terrine followed by game cottage pie. The desserts equally good, sorbet and ginger sponge. We appreciate that being valentines day they were busy but....

    I booked the table for a valentines treat for my parents. They had a beautiful table within the castle not the main Brazz dinning area. They had fish cake and baked cannery to start , followed by venison pudding and chocolate heart pudding and a rhubarb crumble . They said food was excellent staff attentive , they didn’t feel rushed and although expensive circa £160 inc wine it was worth every Penny . Thanks Brazz team For making their 58th Valentines together memorable !

    Excellent food, let down by the service. It took more than 30 minutes to get a first drink, kept having to try & grab a waiter/waitress to get wine, each drink, water for the table etc

    Couldn't really fault the food, it was a very high standard. Ambience and decor lovely, especially sitting in one of the booths. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, just a few minor niggles in service errors but a thoroughly enjoyable evening and will definately go back. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

    Miserable very hurried waitresses. Food rather pretentious, over priced, tasted ‘ok’, but really nothing special. My chicken main didn’t come with veg or potatoes, so you have buy those separately at £4 each, which when they arrive are enough for 2 people. A real waste of food and so silly not to be included with the main dish. Not a great venue if you want a romantic or quiet table for 2. VERY VERY noisy. The poor layout and no thought to seating arrangements, meant we were stuck between 2 large groups of people, one side with a woman screeching throughout. Not fun. Probably ok if you’re on works night out or a big birthday celebration. But it felt very rushed and they don’t have a front of house person to check everything is ok, or if you needed anything. Our waitress did her best, but it took ages to get the bill as we couldn’t signal to anyone, and forget needing anything or more drinks. We were handed a menu when we sat down, but had to wait another 10 minutes to ask for a wine menu. All in all it felt like a conveyor belt system, nothing friendly or personal, very rushed, noisy and badly managed. We happy to get out of there and go for a drink elsewhere. You also have to sit in your coats as nowhere to hang them and the toilets aren’t signposted so had to guess and ask for directions in the main hotel next door. the lighting and decorations were pretty, but that’s about the best i can say about it. Won’t be returning any time soon.

    Lovely food and atmosphere and very friendly staff. Good value for the quality of food provided. One drawback is the requirement for a £15 per head deposit if the booking has to be cancelled at short notice; I do understand this is needed at busy times/weekends, but during the week it seems unnecessary and it made me quite anxious about the booking - especially if we’d got stuck on the M5 or something. So that might put me off booking in future as I would like some flexibility.

    Very smooth and tasty chicken parfait and a very generous portion so suitable for sharing. Superb crispy batter on the fish and chips and great chips and crushed peas. Very attentive service. Slightly noisy as we were seated next to the bar, but it was Friday night so not unexpected.

    I had a good time in Brazz, can’t help but I noticed few marks in the wall where I was seated ,may be it could be due to the lack of staffs , the starter bread was damn cold ,don’t know why But the waitress was lovely she did a decent job .Thank you for having us

    Having looked at some recent reviews we were concerned about service and wait times, however, glad to say we enjoyed excellent and very prompt service. The waiting staff were also polite and friendly. The food was really good and a great range of options available. And offered good value for money. Only slight issue - the toilets although clean smelt like wee? And the stairs leading to them weren’t great for those less mobile. However, the disabled toilet wasn’t far from the restaurant and was clean. Beautiful restaurant and the hotel area was decorated really nicely for the festive period including lights along the top of the castle.

    Very disappointed in the ambiance, and the food! Fish, chips & mushy peas was no better than I could get from my local chippy. The fish was dry & the batter tasteless. The fish was served on top of the peas? My wife had smashed avocado on one slice of toast with one egg at a cost of £14??? The Restaurant was virtually empty with no ambiance. Maybe numbers were down because other diners have been disappointed too? This was Boxing Day lunch & we expected some atmosphere! There was none so we won’t be back anytime soon.
