Best carbonara hands down! Andrew who was my server was exceptional. Also tried the parsnip ricotta custard canoli, such a unique dessert! Can’t wait to be back already.
One of my favourite restaurants in Calgary! Everything we have ever ordered has been delicious
Our experience was amazing from beginning to the end! Impeccable service and amazing food! Garlic bread is a must! Incredible!
We very rarely complain about a dining experience and are quite go with the flow kind of people - after all, food should be enjoyed with a great attitude! Unfortunately our experience at Bread & Circus was very disappointing, enough so to warrant a rare negative review. Our food took over an hour to come out (and this was at 9pm with a predominately empty restaurant). Our server apologized repeatedly, but by this point it had already impacted our evening. Even more disappointing was the wine service. Our half-litre of wine had clearly been open for a few days and had lost all of its acidity and brightness. It was way too warm and we left most of it untouched (a first for us!). I want to give them another try because I’m sure they can do better - but frankly our experience was really awful!!
The restaurant was very cozy and fun, except it was way to hot. Winter might be a perfect time!? The garlic bread was lacking garlic flavour. Server wasn’t informed by the kitchen that they ran out of a major part of the dish.
However, the food was really good and the cocktails were amazing.
Delicious different menu items. Very accomodating for vegetarian diners.
Excellent value desserts.
Server was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Will go back for sure
Music was too loud for quiet conversation though.
Highly recommend sitting at the bar. Chef Max is insanely passionate about his career. Not only did he speak about the restaurants charm but his love for every dish created by the head chef and himself. We cannot wait to return to try the oxtail tortellini!
Thank you for the great dining experience.
We were recommended this place by a server at another restaurant and we were quite excited to finally have an amazing pasta spot in Calgary. Surprisingly, the restaurant's service was spot on. They made sure we were seated right away and even did something special for us and we were ready for an excellent meal but that's where it stopped. The food was blah, the drinks were mediocre and the flare of homemade pasta was gone. We did have a celebrity sighting at the restaurant but it still didn't win our hearts. We are still looking for our favourite pasta place in Calgary.
Went to Bread and Circus for an anniversary dinner. The food was delicious and inventive. The presentation was creative. The service was perfect. Looking forward to going back soon.
Excellent space, great cocktails at the back bar and an enjoyable evening with friends. The past was quite salty, but still yummy. Very great for a casual sharing amongst friends experience.
Amazing menu! All of the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Definitely will be going back!
Great food and service, had some prople in from out of town and they said it was hands down one of the best meals they have had.
Everything was exceptional. Beautiful and fun space; amazing food; and the service was stellar. Highly recommend for any occasion!
The food and service were great, our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable but we found the noise level to be too much. There are a couple of quieter tables so if you don’t want to leave with ringing in your ears be sure to ask for one of those.
Have been here multiple times and always sit at the counter. Interacting with the chef's makes the experience even more me memorable. The food has been excellent and the lasagne and cacio e pepe are favourite's. Wine list is decent and the staff is very knowledgeable.
Awesome. Thanks Kayle.
The food and service were both fantastic. We went for a birthday dinner and everything was amazing. We had the carpaccio and caesar salad as well as one of the feature appetizers to start then the carbonara and cacio e pepe, with a side of garlic bread. The olive oil gelato was also a winner for sure! Definitely recommend giving it a try, we look forward to going back soon!
With pasta cooked to perfection we enjoy to be at your restaurant. Authentic is important and we appreciate.
I think this is the best food in Calgary right now. Fantastic. Everything was a surprise. Everything was delicious.
They were so accommodating with seating our large-ish group together even though it was quite a busy evening for them. Everyone loved the food and our server was very nice. I maybe spent a bit more than I expected and although there were many vegetarian options, there were only a few vegetable dishes. The cocktails were amazing! The decor was magical.
Max was amazing! He knows his menu for saler and good entertainer. Love is customer service skills and I like people with good hospitality like him
The server was delightful and the food was excellent.
Fun staff. Really good food. Great evening.
Great place, should make a bigger sign as it was difficult to find the location. Prices are high, but overall great place
Service was exceptional. Great recommendations & knowledge of the menu. Both wine & food. Food was terrific. The Nero Spaghetti is the best.
Great ambience and styling. Falls a bit short in the pasta department - the cacio and pepe pasta was wet with a solid lump of cheese and pepper sat atop... The chickpea cauliflower starter was amazing. Not enough vegetarian options. Love the decor and Wes Anderson style menus.
Had a wonderful experience at B&C! It was our first time at this restaurant and we will definitely be coming back! Great service, amazing food and wonderful ambiance.
Quality of very expensive food has quickly gone downhill. Loved it my first 2 times....third time was not the charm.
The cheese garlic bread is amazing. The pasta was ok.
If you appreciate Italian culture and tradition then this is the place
What a great culinary adventure at Bread and Circus! Julia and Andrew were a great team, truly professionals in their craft. Thanks for the donuts! Delicious.
Everything was great. Some of the best pasta we have ever had.
Phenomenal food and service! 10/10 on everything.
Bread and Circus was everything I hoped it would be. I’ve been following them on Instagram for a while and finally had the opportunity to go. Everything we had was absolutely fantastic. I went there specifically for the cheesy pasta dish and it did not disappoint. We tried the olive oil gelato and were shocked at how delicious it was! Hot tip; make sure you tear the basil into tiny bits and get a tiny piece with each bite. It was delicious, and it’s a truly beautiful little restaurant. Will be back!
Not our first visit, and won't be our last. This is a clever, creative small space with excellent food. The daily specials are always inventive and delicious.
Still love the pasta being tossed on the giant parma wheel. Yum!
Best lasagna I have had in a long time. We also really enjoyed the Beef Carpacicio and Carliflower and Cumin salad. We sat at the bar which was fun, as we watched the food prep which was very interesting.
Amazing waitress (Julia took really well care of us) , food amazing and ambiance pretty good. Poor thing is even with reservation we waited to have our table.
I had high expectations, they fell a little short. We found the food to be overly rich. Our cocktails were only OK. I think I wanted it to be like Smaller Una and it was not.
Service good. Place is loud and food was very average
Great decor, delicious food and excellent service. Unique Italian eatery, definitely reminded me of being back in Rome. The ambience was very nice. I would highly recommend checking out Bread and Circus the next time you are on 17th Ave.
