The food was just okay…crab cakes, not impressed, they looked and tasted like pancakes with a little bit of crab. Bacon wrapped scallops were overcooked, steak was overcooked and chewy. Dessert was good and so was the ambience. Very expensive for what we had!

First off, when we arrived, our guest party was already there and seated using their reservation as the restaurant had lost ours. Restaurant was lovely and well decorated, table was in a good spot. Our waiter was very matter-of-fact, did not introduce himself and was aloof in his service. We informed him that it was our anniversary and he gave a quick happy anniversary and then left. The service was slow, our two guests were disappointed with their steaks as they were overcooked (however they did not wish to complain). My prime rib was very good, my wife's sea food medley was fair. Overall the meal price and service did not reflect the décor or ambience of the restaurant. In my opinion we did not receive true value for the dollar amount.

The three of us had different dishes and each of us enjoyed the food immensely. The service was impeccable, friendly and prompt. We were greeted and seated with smiles all around and a lovely portion of humour. The ambience, as always, is beyond reproach. Another outstanding experience at the Brigadoon. The two folks with me had not been before and were thrilled to have been introduced to the Brigadoon. They are still raving about what a beautiful place it is and how wonderful the food was.

Our meal was delicious, as we expected. I had a drink with fresh blueberries which was delicious. The home made bread with both pesto and butter on the side was a nice touch. We had filet mignon which was cooked to perfection. I had the raspberry sorbet for dessert. I expected a few raspberries in it rather than strawberries but no complaints on the portion or taste. The decor is fascinating and I took lots of pictures on previous special occasion visits.

This was the best dining experience we have had anywhere in the Ottawa Valley. Located in the interesting village of Oxford Mills, this beautifully restored former General Store has a ton of ambience, filled with interesting artifacts and furnished with beautiful wooden furniture, macrame'd place mats, and comfortable chairs that lend a family dining room atmosphere. From the personal welcome by Cheryl, one of the owners, to the courteous, efficient and inobtrusive service this is like dining at home. No blaring music or annoying televisions to drown out conversation here, just the gentle background of conversation from other diners. The food selected from a very large and eclectic menu is outstanding - prepared and presented beautifully and provided in abundant quantity. No small plates here! Understandably, this is not inexpensive, but where is today? However, unlike other establishments, Brigadoon is definitely value for money! We will definitely return, in particular as somewhere to go for a special event or simply somewhere special for an outstanding outing for just the two of us. Our thanks to Brigadoon for a memorable meal!

We were celebrating an early Mother's Day and had a fabulous meal, with juice, soup, main course, dessert and coffee. The curried vegetable soup was tasty, chicken and sauce were tender and delicious as were the veg and fingerling potatoes. I had the wild blueberry pie with custard which was superb. It was a lovely meal, great service and ambience.

Food was good, but the service was poor. One waitress just wanted me and my girlfriend to leave and insisted we take the bill over getting desert, and showed overall she didn’t like us. The other waitress was nicer and asked if we were having desert and seemed a lot nicer, but this was after the first waitress already insisted we take the bill.

I don't know who to give the lowest mark to - Open Table or Brigadoon, or both! I made the reservation through Open Table on Nov 25 and was quite looking forward to the experience, especially as it turned out to be quite a LONG DRIVE ON A STORMY NIGHT OUT OF TOWN FOR US. When we arrived, about 5:20 pm, everything was dark. Another car pulled into the parking lot after us. Our reservation was for 5:30, as per the Open Table app. Well, the chap in the other car checked out the front door of the restaurant, only to find a notice that they were closed until Jan 19. Brigadoon could / should have checked the Open Table reservations before they went on holiday and given us a call. We had dinner at the Baldachin in Merrickville instead.

As a regular diner at the Brigadoon the experience is always delightful. The food is excellent, the staff warm and friendly and helpful. I enjoy in particular the British memorabilia around the room.

Service & Value marginal. We went in the late afternoon (2-3 pm) and we and another table were the only ones in the restaurant, however, the staff were preparing for early dinner and were loud, talking with each other and clashing utensils as though we weren't there. Wouldn't classify as fine dining.

The 19th century decor and ambience of Brigadoon is second to none; the service is friendly and relaxed; the food is quite good and varied. There is absolutely nothing to complain about, except perhaps the prices are a bit steep. But to operate a small, high quality restaurant in a rural setting undoubtedly is costly, so the prices can been 'both understood and forgiven. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience.

Cheryl and her team never disappoint. Excellent service, wonderful food wrapped up in an historic building, steeped in charm (and intriguing collectibles). Whether celebrating a special occasion or enjoying a proper afternoon tea, The Brigadoon is the place to be!
