   No a/c so they had loud fans going and we couldn't hear each other. It was so hot! dinner was not prepared correctly and for $23 for a salmon salad that was stupid.

   Wow, this place has really gone downhill. It used to be the spot. I predict it will be closed by June 2024. The service was slow, trouble remembering what we asked for multiple times, and just subpar for more than $100 dinner. The kitchen was super loud and made it very hard to talk. We saw most of the tables went unbussed the entire time we were there. The A/C didn't work. The bar didn't get drinks right. The table bread service was so slow it came when we got our food. All those that work there bail while you can and go somewhere that will survive. This one won't even though it's been a staple on the Plaza for years.

   First, I will just say, the food was good - flavor, temp, ect -- all what i expected from Brio, which is the only reason I am giving them a 2 star instead of a 1 star. I had out of town guest coming so I made a reservation for the balcony. When I arrived, I was told the balcony and second floor was closed. They should have taken the balcony option off of reservations if it wasn't open (which after speaking to some friends, I found out it hasn't been open for a while now). The restaurant was maybe 20-30% full and we still had to wait for them to get a table for us. We were seated between the restrooms and a large on floor a/c unit with big white tubing going up to the ceiling -- even thought there appeared to be many other open tables throughout the restaurant. While we were looking at the menu another restaurant guest (who appeared to be inebriated) kept coming over to our table and chatting with us. Each time he came over he got closer, leaning over our table and touching one of my friends arms. I went and told the waiter this man was making us uncomfortable and he replied, "yeah, we know, he's already cashed out his bill, we are taking care of it" -- and then he walked off and did nothing. The man came over to our table 2 or 3 more times, before he finally left on his own with no help of the staff. We ordered an appetizer and main courses. Appetizer didn't come out and the waiter comes over and says your main dishes are ready but your appetizer isn't, do you want us to hold your food until the appetizer is ready? Uh, no, please bring out the food so its not sitting there getting cold -- nice he asked I guess, but also, common sense would be to bring the food when its hot and ready. We were probably 1/2 through our meal when we asked the waiter about the appetizer again and if it was still coming or we should cancel. He said, oh, ill go check, it wasn't ready when i was back there last. Finally the appetizer shows up as we were finishing our meals.

   I don’t even know where to begin. Brio is not what it use to be and this will be the last time I visit. I rsvp’d a table for 7 at 730pm for my friends bday dinner, we had to wait for our table to be prepared, thinking the restaurant maybe packed but when walking through there were only four other tables in use throughout the whole restaurant. Brio is severely understaffed. When ordering drinks we were told there was no bartender to make cocktails and could only order beer or wine, my beer tasted like old skunk beer, my friend ordered a Moscato and was served a Pinot, my friend stated he ordered a moscato and the server told him well this is what we have, sat the glass down and walked away. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. Also there were big AC units sitting inside the restaurant and an extremely loud circulating fan near our table which made it difficult to hear and talk over. I try to take everything into consideration before making a review but this was absolutely terrible, this is my first ever one star review.

   Air conditioning was not working, not sufficient wait staff, poor bartender had ben on without a break since 930am it was 6pm when we arrived for reservation. Food was tasteless. Never returning. A complete disaster, manager was nowhere to be seen.

   We made a reservation for 6 PM Mother’s Day, and when we arrived for it, it was an absolute fiasco. There were about 30 people trying to check in for reservations that ranged from 5:30 to 6:30. We were informed that there were people there that had 4:30 reservations that had not been seated yet. While this chaos ensued, I walked around and counted the empty tables in the restaurant and found 17 tables were empty while they were not seating anyone. Apparently no one showed up for work on Mother’s Day. They were short staffed in the kitchen, so Food was not coming out they were short staffed in the dining room so people weren’t being waited on The poor, flustered person they had trying to check people in and seat people, It was completely obvious that she had not done this particular job before because she was so far in the weeds. I felt sorry for her. At about 635. It looked like we were going to be seated, but as they told me just to wait a few more minutes while they got our table, reset an entire family the size of ours was walking out because while they had been seated, they had been sitting there for over an hour with no waters and no one coming to wait on them at all. So we walked out and left. This restaurant has been in serious decline for many years. I look for it to close sooner than later. I can tell you this, we’ll never step foot in there again.

   We had a reservation and could not make it to the hostess stand to even check-in. There was a crowd of people in front of us with earlier reservations who were also not being helped. The hostess would not make eye contact with the people waiting in front of her. She just stared at her monitor with head in hand mumbling that they were short-staffed. We gave up and left after 10-15 minutes. So sad - this used to be a great place to dine in KC. This was the second time we experienced Brio's front-of-house failing to deliver. Doubt we'll give it a third.

   Restaurant was totally unprepared for Mother's Day. Perhaps too many employees called in sick, but very understaffed and that resulted in a very poor experience.

    AC was not working so the entire restaurant was not. Waited an hour for our food all to have them forget one of the meals which took another 20 minutes. All of the staff was stuck working in awful conditions.

    Worst experience ever. Reservation at 2 pm, seated at 2:30- ordered both appetizers and main course right away- didn’t get appetizer till 3:30, not even bread despite asking 3 times. Server comes at 4:15 to say we don’t have the item we ordered. Main course not served till 4:45 pm!!!

    The food never disappoints here, so no concerns there. It was Mother’s Day and having a reservation meant absolutely nothing. I’m not sure if they overbooked, but it was about a 20-30 min wait with a reservation. I’m not sure if the air conditioning was out, but it was hot. There was a makeshift AC but it wasn’t really doing too much. Our waitress was good, and my mother enjoyed her day. So all in all everything was good!

    We had a reservation, but they were 15 minutes late seating us. The AC was out so it was unbearable hot. We were there 1.5 & still no food but the free bread. We told our waitress we were leaving then our food magically appeared 5 minutes later. We were there total of 2 hours. Food was subpar & expensive. Will never go back.

    We had a 1:00 reservation. We are finally seated at 1:30. Our waitress, Kate was wonderful and did everything she could to make our experience great. At 2:45, we still had not received our food order and paid the bar tab and left. I didn’t even mention the fact that the air conditioner was out and it was well over 85 degrees in the restaurant. They over-promised and did not deliver. The absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant in my life.

    It was Mother's Day so it was very crowded. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed and our service was very slow. The food took a long time to come out as well. While the food was a little bit above average, the slow service made the experience not enjoyable one.

    The food was delicious but the AC was broken and it was extremely hot in there. It was difficult to enjoy the food/feel hungry with how hot it was. There were about 5 fans going, making it really loud & hard to hear but not much cooler. Tables around us were trying to move closer to the fans, people were wiping their foreheads from sweat, it was ridiculous. As we were leaving, we told the hostess that we would’ve preferred to have been called before our reservation to let us know the AC was broken, otherwise we wouldn’t have come (it was about 85 degrees and humid outside already!) She told us it’s been broken for YEARS. It was a really disappointing experience and the staff wasn’t real friendly (maybe because of the heat).

    On an approximately 90 degree day, the restaurant was uncomfortably warm. The service was very slow - the worst we have had in a long time, which bus very disappointing given the cost point. Food was good.

    This was a dinner planned with my husband’s parents along with his siblings and their spouses and we had a reservation at 6 PM. We were seated promptly at 6 PM and our server took our cocktail and appetizer orders very soon after 6 PM which was great. Then, we sat and waited 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive from the bar. Our two appetizers arrived before the drinks at about 6:50 PM. Finally, our cocktails from the bar arrived almost an hour later. We asked to speak with the manager and the manager came over and he seemed perplexed as to what to do when we shared our experience of waiting so very long for our cocktails to come out. We also were displeased with a dirty knife with unwashed food stuck to it along with my brother in law having a dirty drinking glass. The manager very briefly & almost quietly apologized and then left us quickly almost as if he didn’t know what to do about the situation. Our order for our meals were taken by our server at about 7 PM after our after our cocktails arrived and then about 20 minutes later after giving our food order, the manager comes back out and tells my brother in law that they don’t have any pork chops so he needs to choose another dinner item. We all were so disappointed in how the evening was going, but decided to make the best of it since we hadn’t all 8 been out to dinner together in awhile. The server did come back later and told us our two appetizers were on the house and then at the end of the dinner they did bring us three desserts to enjoy. It was the least Brio could do, but I do feel like they don’t have a handle on the service of the bar, the kitchen and the dishwashing of the dishes. We all left saying that was the worst experience in dining out in Kansas City we’ve had. It was most disappointing the way the manager didn’t really grasp the understanding of waiting 45 minutes for cocktails and an hour to take our food order along with the dirty knife and glass. Disappointing to say the least

    It was our first time there. We went for my sister's birthday. Over the years we have heard so much about the place but in my opinion it failed to meet up to the standards. The food was good but overpriced. Our server acted as if he had other tables and there was hardly anyone in the place. He kept walking off when we were trying to ask questions. I also put in my notes when I booked the table that if they did anything special for birthdays to please include and no one acknowledged anything. I probably won't go back.

    Needed two tables at the same time to accommodate a chaperoned teenage birthday party (we did have a reservation). As you could imagine the kids didn’t want the parents sitting with them! The management/hostess ensured we were taken care of and payment was easy as it needed to be between two wait staff. The food was great, hot and plenty for take home leftovers. Thanks to the staff for making my daughters night a success!

    Worst avocado toast ever. Bread was soggy, not toasted and no flavor. The bartender was complaining the whole time about how the staff the night before left the state of the bar. And also overheard 2 employees talking about the smell of sewer in dish pit.

    My wife and I had set a reservation and they took us in 10 minutes early which was much welcomed. Our drinks were great, service was sufficient, the lobster bisque that we got was a good value for the money, but not very tasteful. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back!

    Husband ate there a few years ago twice and thought I would enjoy it. Really marginal food - packaged grocery store Italian would have been better. Perhaps it was because when he went the place was busy so the kitchen was better. We went on a Thursday night and the food looked and tasted like heated up leftovers.

    Had a reservation but had to wait for a table. Sat between prom kids and the kitchen. Our waitress took our drink order, then food order then never came back. Didn’t reliever or food, which is no big deal, but never came back until we flagged her for our check. We didn’t even get water refills! Horrible service and food was just ok for the price.
