Wonderful food and staff. Some great local wines at very reasonable prices.
Always a great place to enjoy a very good meal with excellent service and fair prices
Thanks for your posting!
We stayed at the Double Tree for seven nights. We had six meals at the Buchanans, breakfast five times and dinner with our last night. It is a very good price/value. Lise , our waitress , at each meal , was great. We really enjoyed it.
Thanks for commenting on our good price/value and identifying our team member Lise as great!
Our whole experience at Buchanan's was positive. We were warmly greeted at the door and seated promptly. Our food was prepared fresh which I was pleased with. Many places use Frozen food nowadays and buchanans uses fresh ingredients. The value for our meal was also outstanding.
We appreciate your business, thank you for posting your positive experience.
Ordered the marinated Angus steak medium rare for myself and two colleagues. Considering this is Buchanan’s “Steak and Seafood”. I expected a half decent steak. The steak in all three cases was gristly, over cooked and over salted. The best part of the meal was the baked potato and the Baco Noir wine we ordered. Called the waiter/manager over who offered to redo another steak which I declined. He pointed out that he felt it was medium rare since he could see blood on my plate. I couldn’t be bothered at that point. I chose this restaurant because I thought it would be quieter/less busy than the Keg - not so much. It was less busy, but had a table of about 12 older men who were in town for a golf weekend. After a few drinks, they were having fun and their noise level was significant. I paid the bill and added a generous tip - wasn’t the waitress’s fault. I would rate the marinated angus steak cooked medium rare a 2/10.
We regret to learn of your displeasure, and sorry we were unable to provide a redo. It is not often that we get groups of 12 men but in Niagara Falls it is a possible. Generally, we are low key as you sought out, with live dinner music on select weekends. We hope you will give us another chance when next in Niagara.
I would strongly recommend this restaurant! Service didn’t just come with a smile! It was my first experience at this venue, my decision to try Buchanan’s was based off of all the reviews l read and in my opinion l am a complainer and very vocal about poor service. The reviews were spot on! Lise our server combined her expertise and compassion for what she does and focused on giving us the best experience she could! I believe in Jerry Mcquire the catch phase is “she had me at hello” . What more can l say! Thank-you for making our anniversary dinner extraordinary! Thank you also to Ahmed as well for putting his personal touch in as well!
Awesome to have had you "at hello". Probably the most unique review we have received to date. Will share the review with the team members referenced. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon.
Good service, my only issue is I was not given the option to order my angus burger medium rare, they just cooked it the way they wanted, we’ll done. Which almost ruined it for us. People were great though and everything else was good.
Thanks for the review, we appreciate your feedback. Locally for the past several years, health and safety organizations have been mandating not to offer medium rare - here is a quote from their site: "When it comes to cooking ground beef, 165 F means well-done. That means that you should never see any pink in the middle of your burger. That's right, the days when it was safe to eat a medium-rare hamburger are sadly behind us."
We had a great dinner ! My husband both enjoyed our steak dinner- had the Sirloin steak and he had the Ribeye. The Server is very attentive and very friendly and she definite needs to be complemented.
The Spicy Chicken as appetizer is delicious and the the Sticky Toffe Creme Brûlée was fantastic!
We will definitely come back.
Definitely coming back!
Looking forward to welcoming you back when we re-open for dinner.
We searched online and was very happy with everything. Love the look of restaurant and hotel.
This was the worst dining experience we have ever experienced in the falls. The food was horrible, reheated beyond belief and dry.. wow dry doesn't even cut it. The waitress was like dealing with a wet mop. Extremely disappointed in every area of our dining experience. the waitress never came back to ask if we wanted drink refills, never came back to see how our food was ( as we would of politely told her). Unfortunately i would not recommend this place to anyone.
We regret to learn of your experience, what you describe is not typical and I apologize. When dining out returns to normal, we look forward to the opportunity of restoring your faith. The shut down has allowed us to revisit everything we do and improve.
Food was delicious. I honestly didnt expect it to tastes so good. We got the Rib steak and a chicken breast with shrimp dinner. Was really good. The veggies were awsome and tasted great as well.
Excellent service and food. Quiet evening at the restaurant and waitress was very attentive and personable
Well, I booked this for lunch after reading the reviews. I thought that we needed reservations for this place but, we were the only ones there from start to finish. Not a bad thing. I also didn't realize that this place is in a hotel, which I'm not really a fan of hotel restaurants. The food was good for lunch and our waitress was really cool and helpful. Our view was interesting to say the least. We watched several people kicking back 24's and smoking fatty's. The best part was watching a, um, lady twerking in a window of the hotel across the street. Straight up free entertainment that was not anticipated and lightened my day.
We had a fantastic meal and experience. The waitress was prompt but allowed us to enjoy our time there without interruptions.
Both good and wine were outstanding
It was okay just the layout was not as impressive as the pictures portray but the food was good and the service was satisfactory
Food was very good. Waitress got my wife's order wrong twice. We asked to sud the rapini for mashed potatoes, when the food came it had the rapini on it. We mentioned it to the waitress, she went back to the kitchen and brought out roast potatoes. We mentioned it her as we were paying the bill but she didn't seem to care.
Took my family here for my father's birthday. We had a great time and our server was great. Majority of us ordered steak and it was delicious. We liked how quiet it was and a good distance from the falls that we could enjoy a nice quiet family meal together.
Food was excellent. Service the same, very inviting atmosphere. Would definitely dine here again.
There were 4 of us and there was hardly anyone there but we were seated at a single table that was quite small for the for of us when we could have been seated at a larger table since there were few people there. My steak was fine but the small bowl of juice/gravey was salty. I also ordered the sautéed mushrooms, and they were very garlicky, lobster tail was fine and the other steak was fine also. We also had two salmon dinners and they were both very dry, with no tartar sauce for the fish. The starters we ordered were fine and the slice of chocolate Birthday cake was very good, and the piano player was good.
We look forward to welcoming you back once we reopen for dinner. The table choice seems quiet odd and I apologize for same. Frank the piano player will be back, stay tuned to better days ahead.
Service not quite up to fine dining standard. Server's demeanour sent the message that she didn't want to be working. Food was ok, acceptable but not great. Kitchen was very helpful in accomdatiing food sensitivity. Prices are on high end.
We regret to learn of the poor impression made. Never our intent to come across so poorly. When the shut down, we are now reviewing everything we do to improve.
It was a great place to have a great dinner meal. Staff was friendly food was amazing. Drinks were amazing. I am from New York so I had no idea where to eat but I would definitely come back, the steak was great and they cooked it exactly how i had asked for.
We had an awesome meal and our waiter Manu was great. We will definitely be back visiting Niagara Falls and dining at Buchanans.😊
Raj was our server for my husband's 70th and my daughter's35th birthday. He was great with all thekids.
I have already recommended it to people. We will be back!
Given the competition in the area I would say there are definitely better places to go!
Great meal for the price and not too busy or loud. Will definitely go back!
The duck was amazing, melt in your mouth. As was the steak and lobster. Service was very friendly and fast, definitely made for an amazing anniversary dinner.
I’ve managed a keg steakhouse and a ruths Chris, this was absolutely horrible. From old olives being used for our martinis, to the server saying it should say in the menu, when we asked questions of certain foods. (Terrible), with our baked potatoes, we were given sour cream in takeout containers, meanwhile we were eating in the restaurant? I would be embarrassed to be an owner of a doubletree hotel with a joke of a restaurant in house, just embarrassing. A cafeteria basically , I wouldn’t go again for free.
Yikes, we are embarrassed with what you describe. Not typical. Pre - pandemic, nothing should have gone out in a take out container - now post pandemic, it is the new single serve norm. The server clearly needed more training and should not have been on the floor unassisted. We hope when next in Niagara, and we are reopened for dinner, you will give us another chance. Clearly your experience in the industry makes your feedback very valuable to us.
Everything was very good, stuff very accommodating, food tasty and nicely served. The only thing that was not up to a standard was French onion soup, wouldn’t recommend it, everything else - go did it!
We went for a late dinner around 7pm! Had a beautiful table and awesome waitress! Our drinks and food were amazing and came pretty fast! It was very nice and calming in there not to much noise at all! Perfect “date night” type setting while on vacation!
Second time dining here. Absolutely a great choice. Food good, service awesome, reasonably priced.
Attached to the Doubletree hotel, we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at Buchanan’s. I had the chicken and shrimp dish (I think it was Cajun chicken). Chicken was good, the shrimp was great, but the flavour that really stood out for me (very surprisingly) was the lentils. I don’t even like lentils (normally), but these were absolutely fantastic. My dining companion had the vegetarian ravioli. It was also wonderfully flavoured and presented well. Restaurant was clean and modern. The only slight negative if you’re looking for fine dining is that the other patrons were standard hotel diners (ie just down from their rooms for a bite to eat, although everyone was quite friendly). Great place - surprisingly unique flavours (not anything run-of-the-mill like Kelsey’s or Outback)
We went for breakfast and the menu was rather small. The place was empty but our food still came out cold. The food was good but would have been better hot.
2nd visit and my partner had the striploin. So tender, a bit on the rare side but it tasted so good. I had the beef penne which was again...so tasty. Live guitar was a nice touch. Service was pretty good, just forgot to bring wine once. Service staff need a bit of training on restaurant character. Friendly enough, but just a bit rough on the edges. I would return.
We had a very nice dinner at Buchanan’s. The menu has a nice variety to pick from. The service was good, the meals came out quickly, and the food was excellent. The restaurant has a very relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely go back.
Average at best, lobster dip for appetizer tasted of red pepper and pitta was deep fried so taste of cooked oil, very unappetizing. Steak was over cooked, food not exactly hot, peppercorn sauce had no peppercorns in it, vey disappointed
Terrible. Steak prepared incorrectly... TWICE (once after being returned the first time). Will never return.
We arrived a little early but were seated without problem
Had a leisurely drink without being rushed to order our dinner
Appetizers were excellent
Lobster dip and pita and crispy spicy chicken -delish !
Seafood pasta and an angus steak were delicious
Portions were excellent - quality excellent as well
Reasonably priced - wonderfully satisfied
Great service and great manager. We had a great dinner and the jazz player was fab!
First time and we will be back. Beautiful location, Food was amazing, not too costly and the staff are super friendly!
Very disappointing experience:( will never come back to this restaurant and would make sure to not recommend anyone to experience this kind of a disappointment. We came in to the restaurant and then noticed there was a wedding on the same floor as our restaurant.
We were four people and ordered our food appetizers and main courses. Our waiter that brought the wine could not even open the wine bottle. Our friend helped her to twist the cup. Each one of us ordered meat dish. Rack of lamb , T-bone steak and two fillet mignon. The rack of lamb came it was fine, the fillet mignon we ordered medium and it came rare in the middle for both of them then we asked to cook it a bit more. Our waiter said they will bring a completely new one. We had been waiting for the fillet mignon for over 45 minutes the second time. It came back the same as the old one, and it looked like someone was eating from it. We were so disappointed that we asked for the manger and we lost our appetite after the tbone came back fixed.
Both of my friends were devastated of this kind of experience that a restaurant offers to guests at Double Tree hotel. We asked to remove all the food from our bill since it was very disappointed experience. There was an hour a part between the t-bone and rack of lamb and both fillet mignon were never came back properly. It was very embarrassing experience in front of our family friends. That we had to make reservation at another place to eat dinner in a decent restaurant that can serve guests appropriately and not fool them.
